- In today's episode we make a legitimately awesome front splitter for my wide body 2001 audi a4 avant quattro from a simple piece of plywood and honestly it turned out awesome!
Here's the article that gave me the idea

This is the most underrated channel on youtube I swear
Hands down my favourite youtube channel right now! Doesn’t have much production budget and not doing anything crazy, just a great personality and diy skills!
you should spray it with raptor liner
only the bottom for durability
Thank you for the shout out man 😁 I made a plywood splitter and lasted well over a year in UK weather and it got hit off alot of stuff. Definitely recommended to anyone if you want a cheap option that doesn't cost alot!
Spoolie ST got one on my astra lol broke to many plastic grp ones lol . im just waiting till it starts looking tatty then just replace it (free wood from work ) #win
The best part is that he does it cheap, but doesn't look cheap
When's that widebody for your son's little car coming
Lmao I would love to see that. Might do as a project for my kids lil tikes
@@BloodbathEAMX-iOS this was a year ago he already did it haha
You inspire me man. The other day I pumped air into my tires for the first time. 😊👍 thanks for the courage to start working on cars
"Anybody want ice cream!!!!" I love this channel so much. The car is lookimg so clean 💪
Also the music in this is fire 🔥
Beautiful man it just keeps getting better and better I can’t wait to see the finished product
Nice work on the splitter. Looks great! Those canards are going to be sick! Can't wait to see em 👌
You are such a nice dad love your energie and creativity👌
This beast is looking awesome. Have always loved Audi Avants, but this widebody custom is beyond cool.
so not only does your son work on cars, but he cooks and buys icecream?! what a great little guy.
Bro this my first video watching, I absolutely enjoyed your humble sense of character, how you are with your kid. I had a terrible and you reminded me what matters, your passion and mostly family. God bless 🙏🏼 I have subscribed and hit the notification bell, looking forward to your next video.
Bro! Classic OG Built! This is the Built I fell in love with! Miss this stuff man!
It looks incredible!!!
I made one before, I loved it. Looks great man 👍👌
Thank you for the covers on the bumper sections... with everything you have done to this car it all looks amazing, those have stuck out to me so much because everything else looks so finished. Great work as usual man, keep it up!!!
@@BUILTOFFICIAL Looks great now brother, keep up the good work!! sometimes a cover IS the answer.
As far as the slots a decent Milling machine is the next thing to add to your garage with all the custom work you do. Definitely worth the investment.
BUILT I would think best bet would be to find a shop either going out of business or upgrading their mill. A decent Klutch mini Milling machine would run about $825 shipped on amazon. Which doesn’t the price of bits to do the specific jobs you want to do. It would definitely be an investment if you want to start making your own parts.
Simple pillar drill dude.
Sweet remus, its gonna sounds mean and the splitter is a good touch!!
It's nice to see people contributing parts to this humble build, keep the good work.
Your kiddo needs his own channel 🙂
So impressed with what you did to that simple A4 bumper!
It’s been so long since I’ve watched your channel and wow your son is growing so fast
Fits the car perfectly
Love it proper at home job
Love it!
wow! my car's splitter and exhaust is insane! so dope. i was going to put an s4 exhaust on it too. you're doing so many things I planned to do! great minds think alike. s/o to the subscriber who helped our build!
to do a good quality diy slot, drill a hole at both ends first, when you feel the blade drop into the hole, quickly pull the grinder out. leaves round ends
Curious what thickness material did you make the Canards out of ?
Good work bro
Looks like u have a front lip can u plz link where u found it I have a 2003 Audi A6 c5 and I can’t find one anywhere !
3D-printed parts for the audi? I can't wait
Love it 👍
Another good vid thank you :)
The livery is gonna look insane
Happy Easter bro
Where can I get the metal piece that you used to mount splitter
This is my plan on my fiero as well
i guess we could call it a splinter...
I'll be going now
this car has came such a long way it unbelievable i cant wait for that corolla build though😁
you can wait
@@slavwaifu5300 i cant😂 got a coupe version of that corolla im looking forward to it.
@@BUILTOFFICIAL heck yeah mine has a little 4ac 1.6 engine very fun lightweight toy haha
Yellow headlight tint would look really dope
Not the best materials to make a splitter but I know it’s all about diy budget, either way it looks awesome man, I would recommend vinyl wrapped so it keeps humidity off of it
damn bro, 75k subs already!!!!🤯
Some of this makes me cringe, and most of this makes me happy or laugh. So keep up the good work man!!!
Lookin 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤩
Shell your mr2?
I would have gone with fiber glass for weight purposes, but i feel the wood would (hehe) be much more sturdy. Good for you, man! Look at you doing your thing. So happy to watch people do this instead of drugs and wasting their lives away. Keep on keepin on!
Edit: You're awesome, bro!
It looks great bud🤙 What kind of wheels are those? Edit: never mind, I finally saw a shot of the center cap forgestar f14:)
Cracked me up with that ever so suttle "subscribe" written on the metal u were cutting. 🤣🤣🤣👍
buy yourself a compass for moving the lines of a compound shape out....very useful for matching contours
I was JUST watching how to make these yesterday; all of them made out of an ABS plastic sheet. Glad to see you can make it out of plywood! *What thickness is the plywood??*
P.S. Nice use of the Scotty Kilmer theme music 🤣👍😂
I used 3/4 plywood for mine. You could get away with 5/8s as well
Adam Major Thank You!
looks legit
Those canards will chop legs off if your planning running folk over!! My sort of car! 😉 It's looking good bud.👍
Sweet what kind of 3d printer do you have? I need to get mine up and going again. Had some ideas of something to make and send you.
@@BUILTOFFICIAL nice. I started with a chinese prusa i3 clone and moved up to a folgertech ft-5( pita to assemble) I've wanted to figure out a way to do 3d scanning for a while so I could scan body panels on my car and use that to digitally build a wide body kit off of. Then print in sections and fiberglass off of. The best part would be that you could easily mirror the parts on the pc and have both sides but only have to model one side. I know no one makes a wide body kit for my car so if I could do so and create a mold I could make pieces from it may be a money maker.
And I learn how to make my mirage more rice. Very nice 👌🏼
This guy know how to make a good car and a good baby
when you are making slots for mounting stuff. just drill holes tight together and remove the material in between the holes with a cutoff wheel or a file, just make sure that the holes are alined and it will look super clean
Awesome my friend, looks very very good, greetings from italy.
Gotta love Italy 🇮🇹 pizza is 👍🏻
@@ein7813 yes my friend the pizza here is really good, unfortunately in our country it works only the gastronomy is the fashion. my personal project and I am inspired by people like him
166 Stance Projeckt built puts love into his cars
Great idea for those that can't afford ABS. Also, you could completely coat the wood with fiberglass resin and matting. Actually, this is how early fiberglass bodies were made (dune buggy bodies from the '70's). Running boards for vans were made this way too (fiberglass over a wood structure). By coating it with something it would last even longer and look even neater. ;)
I like the edit xD
Nice job, maybe you should cover all the plywood with a thin layer of bondo, to protect it more from water and leave a nicer finish.
I made a splitter out of 1/4" birch... It didn't survive the test drive.
Yeah, 1/4" is too light, but racecars have used plywood for years. 5/8 or 3/4 and it would be fine.
@@nakedbandit Dang, I used 3/8s and it survived a long time
Also maybe a circular file to smooth out the slots. Like drill a hole. Cut with saw, file out the excess. I feel like that's the best way to make slots in your metal without some kind of special thing
anyone know what kind of black paint to use on a splitter like this?
how much would you say it weighs
7:30 can i have some ice-cream 🍦
Dude its came out surprisingly very nice clean!! Fuck yah I was honestly a little sketched but 🔥🔥Bro !
Definitely! But you give me a lot of wisdom when it comes to me modding my B6 A4 Quattro !👍👍 Keep it up man!!
Yes to Icecream please 😀
What’s thst song playing around 17:45? I like it
Digging the pizza stain! Creative haha just kidding man, long time sub, I love your videos
@@BUILTOFFICIAL hands down my favourite snack while working on my car. I'd never have the cuts to cut thing and build stuff on the scale you do it. Way to take the plunge.
This front end makes me want to buy a a4/s4
Or rs4 ;D thats my dream ;)
I have a suggestion for slotting your mounts. If you have access to a plasma cutter, that ought to give you a cleaner cut. If you can't get the rectangle in 4cuts (desired cut is too thin), you can just make vertical cuts moving over an eighth of an inch at a time.
@@BUILTOFFICIAL Ah gotcha, nice! Super fun tool to use
So what if you wash ithe car wouldn’t the wood sog up? Or is that like water proof paint
BUILT good shit
Dude I would legit pay you for your diy skills and creativeness too bad I'm on the other side of the globe
@@BUILTOFFICIAL I'm in Australia lmao where genuine stuff is more expensive then the car itself
What was that grunt when you picked up that sheet of plywood? Struggling a little bit? LOL
You should buy some rattle can rhino liner for your front splitter
Ooh... Wood splitters... I got flashbacks from a certain Renault Avantime that caught fire.
You mean the convertible 😅😂
Turned out WAY better than I thought it wood. That is all.
Legit I watched all of your vids didn't realize you were local lol I'm in bham!!! Nice work keep it up
sick s%#t dude. Always you do a well f job with that car..i can't wait to see it on road for good
Do I need a front lip?
For the outline
Try to do the front lip with plastic PVC dont cost much and its not very heavy!🤘🏻
@builtonyoutube hear it! It's true.
Also the wood will be bad with the water and humidity.
hey man, If you need your center LCD fixed up, LMK, I'd like to do something for you
👍
Only tip coming from a fitter turner engineer would be be more careful and straighter with the angle grinder take your time and get the cuts evenly spaced by like 20 ml and then drill the ends to disconnect the inner piece.
( the part holding on the splitter )
Wish to wide body my b6
Isn't water going to damage the wood??
Take it on the track when its finnished
you should paint it with linex
Defintiely gained a subscriber tonight haha that’s awesome 🫡
This reminds me that splitter that Jeremy Clarkson made and it cought on fire
You should have a little more distance and more layers when spray painting
Show us that cool truck! What is it??
@@BUILTOFFICIAL it looks really nice you have to feature it in a video
Put stright pipe i so nice this car💪
Next time, use a math compass to trace the line of what ever you want to trace. For instance, the line of the front bumper. Saves u a bunch of time measuring and drawing 😊
that’s exactly how i did mine haha
Yo, nice obs ford in the background
Anybody want ice cream? Priceless :)
Giving BUILT a honest opinion for this a4 project instead being a negative rude disrespectful keyboard warrior like some other idiots! Bud I see wat ur doing.. refining them personal every day mans mechanical DiY skills. the idea and wat ur doing is great man however i do think there are some areas where it cud do with a tad more refining and cleaner lines! But hey this is only ur 2nd build in YT so im sure as time progresses and more time spent you will become more solid with your level of workmanship. Mate im a fan and believer in what ur doing. Keep it up. Dont worry abt the rude hate comments those ppl are just trying to project and reflect a version of themselves! I wudnt bother and just keep doing wat ur doing.
Name of the wheels pls :)?
