- In this TechTalk, we go through every step of making your own hardware store-spec splitter or undertray. It's easy to overpower the aero balance of a street car with just about any wing, making a car understeer too quickly; offset that aero balance with a relatively simple and easy-to-make splitter or undertray.
They key is finding a mounting solution that works for your chassis, then paying attention to details in air flow, like airdam and tire spats, to achieve maximum efficiency. We've run this style splitter or undertray on our track S2000s and more, leading to dozens of wins and records.

We only sell parts that we use. We are not your typical parts reseller that will drop ship and make their XX% All parts we sell have been tested and ran on cars we've built.

I like the aluminum L method for mounting the air dam. This is nice, easy, clean, and cheap!
He taught me to make my undertray like this last year, minus it being out of Alumilite and less sturdy, I was surprised how simple it came together. Not easy for me, but simple haha.
Great stuff! Would be cool to see you guys show this off on track. Quick before/after to show what it does for the aero balance and or top speed.
I legit did this yesterday
Crazy I look up BRZ on youtube and find you guys located 3 blocks from my house!
Nice! Functional, cheap, and character building mods are the best mods. Check out the Acura ARX-06 and the slot they have behind the rear wheel, use that as inspiration for your next, functional cheap and character building mod. It's more effective than you think!
That's funny. That's exactly how I got the contour in the carbon sheet I used for my switch panel!
Awesome video Andy! I'm redoing my splitter setup on my S2000 and this was awesome to get some brain juices flowing!
Looks great!! I cant wait😁
Great video Andy!
Really enjoying the tech stuff like this! Would also love to see more stuff on s2000 setup and the things that didn't work as well and why yall think why. Keep it up!
Def doing this 2022
Little song at the end is great! ROFL
Thanks for the in depth diy!
somebody get this man a router sponsor! xD
what thickness were the carbon fiber sheets you used for the tire spats? you mentioned 1mm but they look a little thicker. also, do they hold its shape after cooling? and during testing, did you find them to push back and into the tire well from drag at high speeds due to mounting points? also, my widebody evo has its inner fender lips cut, any suggestions on how to attach this piece to the fender well?
First! Awesome !
What roll of material is that for the air dam? Home Depot stock it? lol
No quick coat of paint on the wood?
Do you guys have a link to Amazon for the carbon fiber sheet used for the tire spats?
Also curious
Wouldn't riveting the wheel spats to the bumper and splitter defeat the purpose of the quick disconnect on the splitter?
They will stay with bumper. We do rivnuts from the spats to the splitter.
Don’t air spats create insane amount of drag on a low hp car like an s2000?
Should reduce drag on straights by keeping the air off of the rotating tires
I'm surprised it's only attached by those two brackets.
Normally we’d attach at radiator mount and then run rods at the main number beam straight down right behind the bumper.
@@ASMotorsports Yeah, I'm about to add two more pairs of rods in addition to the pair I have holding the sides up (they actually work pretty well) and hope I never need to take my splitter off.
Loooooose the stupid music
