I was thinking that. He's made mistakes over the years but he's a brilliant businessman, he has gained an understanding of football over the years and he has a vision. I wouldn't swap him or ENIC for anyone.
Thanks for all these. This is a very, well, interesting period, not just for Spurs but for football in general. Easy for me to say that (as a fan of a small club) but can't be easy watching for Spurs fans. You were appallingly let down. I'm glad things got better (eventually!").
Although I’m not a Spurs fan, this is a brilliant channel. There’s some great stuff on here that I’ve never seen before. Cheers mate, keep it up please.
What saved us from being demoted to the championship at the time was the fact our murky financial dealings took place before the new regime under sugar took charge, so we do have sugar to thank for that at least. This - and jurgen's brief time at the club in the mid 90s - were about the only bright spots of the grim sugar years. But if scholar and alexou had still been in charge when the investigation took place make no mistake we would have been demoted to the championship. And even sugar's brutal sacking of venables - while disastrous from a footballing viewpoint - probably helped us avoid severe punishment by the FA. As venables had been at the club when some of our dodgy dealings took place under scholar. Indeed it was because of questions about his involvement in financial irregularities at spurs under scholar that the FA didnt extend venables contract after the 96 euros
Re Venables, I'm sure that's why Graham Taylor got the England job before him - it was a case of anyone but Venables on the grounds of morality and financial impropriety.
Interesting program. The thing it fails to emphasise clearly is that all the previous wrong doing was exposed by Sugar and the new Spurs owners who discovered it, and they went to HMRC and the League. That is why the punishment Spurs got , which was initially severe, was later hugely reduced.
Just goes to show, that fans moan about Chelsea getting dosed up by so called blood money , because of his friendships with Yelsin then Putin. Further back supposedly Arsenal getting voted to get promotion even though Tottenham Hotspur finished higher. And the same end of season. Chelsea being allowed to avoid demotion , even though they finished in a relegation spot. Can't really belly ache about all that really, when sadly Tottenham's board were crooked too,
The dark days, anyone who moans about Levy should watch this and realise we are so much better now imo.

@@GEricG I'd swap him for a dust pan and brush
That's a very good point.
@@cdscoys4775 I'm pretty happy with the way things are going at the moment.
This is great footage. More of this thanks!

Was Sugar just that unlikable?
How was Scholar so bad?
@@Urlocallordandsavior it depends what you mean by 'bad'.
How about Woolwich underhand approach to Division one?

Oh when the spurs go marching in!
