My thing is what is going to become of Dru & Ash?! The fact that he remembered her years later and kept that picture Julian drew of her! Like I need resolution to that very subtle subplot!

A Clockwork Reader I just found the “netflix of books” and you can listen to all those novelas with your subscription 👀 download scribd. Hibooks is a similar one but they don’t have all of the novelas. They have the books scribd does not have though.
Wait, seriously? So does that mean i have to read this triology before Ghosts of the Shadow Market?? SH*T! The only reason why i'm here is for spoilers, because i hated the first book so much.
@@cussundriakneal9904 idk if you've read them all already by now, but the order is like this: Lady Midnight, Lord of Shadows, Ghosts of the Shadow Market 1-8 (DON'T read 9 and 10, unless you really love spoiling yourself), Queen of Air and Darkness, GOTSM 9 and 10. That's the perfect way to read the book.

I love Julian the reason is because he’s original I’m not saying the other characters aren’t Ty is also original but Julian is his own person who has an evil side that will strive if it wasn’t for Emma and his family he’s just so complex while Emma is just a girl version of Jace, We saw how Julian is without feeling he doesn’t know when he stop which is so interesting ( This is just my opinion but yeahhh)
Lizbeth Barajas emma & jace honestly don't have more than three things in common, but the rest i agree 100% with. if emma weren't blonde & cassie wasn't always having characters compare emma to jace, no one would make that comparison as much as they do. bc anyone can be sarcastic & badass, she has alot of different personality traits, that's not all there is to her. different experiences, hobbies & totally different decision making
Yes. I couldn't stand Emma at first, just like I can't stand Jace. They're pretty much the same. I love Julian because he has the potential to be evil or do morally questionable things. By the end of this book however, Julian & Emma are my favorite pairing, much more interesting than Clary & Jace has ever been.
i still don’t understand how you don’t like julian as a character or find him flat. I completely respect that it’s your opinion but wow it just shocks me when people say that because i think julian is such a complex character, and has a somewhat darker plot line than previous male protagonists in her book. i just love his character so much and i think emma and him as a couple are so good that sometimes i see them more as one than even a couple which sounds so cliche, but they’re just better together than anything else. it’s refreshing to hear another point of view, though, i just find it so shocking
aash 😂I didn't initially like Julian either...I liked him more when I reread the series, I just wished CC would've taken his character in that darker direction and do something that would subvert my expectations

ahahahaa "I don't really care about Emma and Julian's relationship" same here-- I like them as characters (well, Julian... meeehhhh I'm a little mixed on him), though I did find some of the stuff going on with them in this book more interesting. But the highlights are def the other relationships for me lol like Kieran Mark and Christina? Kit and Ty? Soooo cute!
I still can’t get over how well written this book was tbh. I was someone who really struggled to get into the books because I personally didn’t love the first books in the mortal instruments series. But I fell in love with the infernal devices series and then I read city of heavenly fire and I was like oh shit okay nvm her writing is getting really good now. And with each new book I’m just blown away with how much her writing has improved and how well done this series was. It’s really crazy thinking back to how passive I was about the first books and how much I fucking love this series. I used to be one of those people who wasn’t interested in the books at all because of all the controversy around Clare and the over abundance of jace and clary stuff that I didn’t really care about.
And now I’m here sobbing my heart out about these books. Like the characters are all so complex and so well written and the relationships between all the characters are just so amazing I love them all with my entire heart.
Like I feel like so many people won’t believe me or listen to me about how good this book is because of the rep the moral instruments gets and I don’t know how to explain to people how much this series improves and how amazing the later books are. Ahhh
I totally feel you on the Julian thing though. I feel the exact same. Like I honestly just don’t really get why everyone loves him so much. Like he’s fine. And I really like Emma a lot but like.. idk he just seems really bland to me 🤷🏼♀️ the only times I’m like aww I like Julian is cute moments with him and his siblings cause I love them all so much but it’s not really about Julian cause I don’t really care about him that much either way 😂

For me personally, I love Julian because of the responsibility he had to take on himself ever since he was a young boy. The fact he never had a normal childhood, because he was working so hard for his siblings to have one. It is mentioned he hiked down the road a few times a week just to make sure his siblings and Emma had food on the table. Everything always gets taken away from him throughout his life, and most things are totally out of his control, but he always knows how to keep his head up.
He has given up so many things ever since he was young, and that can mess you up in a way. His only true love has always been Emma since they first met/ they obviously can't love each other the way they want. Both of those things would explain his obsessive behaviour in the book.
Idk how to explain it further. I guess it's also just a feeling, but I have a lot of respect for him. That doesn't mean I accept all his actions in the book, but every human is flawed if you think about it. There are a lot of actions you would take that others would frown upon.
Hope I explained why some of us love him :)

Tbh I feel Emma & Julian romance is stronger than any of the other pairings in the whole shadowhunter world because for example if clary were to have died Jace would have of course been devastated but he would of had people too help him Julian on the other hand would not live without Emma she is his everything if she died he would to
It seems like Ash can open portals between worlds, since he has super special blood powers and such, we clearly have not seen the end of Thule Livvy. I'm betting my right arm she is gonna travel between worlds, maybe to pursue Thule Jace before he wrecks havoc in the established world. Remember, hes CoLS Jace, several years older. Creating the endarkned was his idea. As long as he is in the established world, he is a brokerage of the rules and can/will be as evil as Sebastian himself. Maybe even more so, since Sebastian seemed to ground him at times...

Okay I honestly do not understand how a person goes through three huge 700 paged books and still lack connection to the two main characters 😂 I absolutely love Emma and Julian from the bottom of my heart. I feel that Julian is the best character that CC has ever written because he has so many layers to him and his personality is so crystal clear. I personally haven’t read any book that has a character like that, by FAR. And even though Emma is kind of a generic badass YA protagonist, it’s so hard not to get attached to their love story. I respect your opinion but I do not understand your POV at all 😂 their story kills me. I was broken and joined together again numerous times throughout the duration of this trilogy. It’s forever going to have my heart.
I absolutely agree with you about Julian. You can see that he is super mature and that he is willing to make the hard choices. However I didn't like the couple. I feel like Emma just love him to make the plot angsty. Idk it was weird to me. Sometimes she annoyed me when she thought Jules betrayed her... girl, someone has to make the tough choices 🙄
I was so thrown by the whole Thule plot when it happened until I remembered we’d already seen the alternative universe thing in COHF. It was a major thing even, but I totally forgot about it.
For someone who has never read a single book in the shadowhunter universe, this is confusing but also kinda funny.

I definitely understand where people come from when they don’t like Julian. I wouldn’t say I like him, I wouldn’t say I don’t like him, but I understand and emphasize with him. Here’s why: He’s essentially a parent, and he would do anything for his “kids”. I am also a parent, and can completely relate to the protectiveness he feels for the kids, because I also would stop at nothing to protect my children. I’ve been reading Cassie’s books for so long, like most of us, and I’ve grown up with the characters and I find it really fascinating and impressive that Cassie has managed to continue to give me characters I relate so heavily to, even though I’m in my mid-twenties now and I’m married and a mother, I can still read these books and be totally enthralled by them.
Side note, the way she uses the Shadowhunter world to reflect current issues in our own society is amazing.

The last novella of Ghosts of the Shadow Market so far reveals Tessa being pregnant. To be honest, I find it funny you find it so shocking, but mostly because every story I've read regarding Jem and Tessa they are always having sex. Like, my reaction was "Of course you are," which I don't know if it's bad my first reaction was that
I had heard this was the case! I'm not so calmly waiting for the hardback release rather than the Ebooks! My reaction was the same though!

julian, emma, my loves im so sorry i respect this opinion but could not disagree more omg i love them both so much
same omg!! I love both Emma and Julian's characters and think they just go so well together! I respect her opinion but I will never be able to understand when people say Julian's boring because tbh he's probably one of the least boring characters cassie's ever written. he's SUCH a complex character with so many sides to him and he's pretty unconventional as far as the fact that there are no other people in the shadowhunter world that are even similar to him at all. He definitely has a dark side to him which for some reason I love, because all the other love interests/the main characters she's written were essentially "good", so it was almost refreshing to have a character that couldn't always be trusted to do the "right" thing because he always did what was best for Emma and the kids whether it was "right" or not. At times I almost find him scary, because he has legit no limits to what he would do to protect Emma and the kids.
Anjali Kumar yeah i completely agree!! I think he differs from other male leads in Cassie’s stories in that his dark side is so complex, he’s very willing to do ANYTHING for his family. will and jace also had a “dark” side, but it was never like it even as intense as julian’s

Whereas for Julian, it is intense and real. He would kill for the people he loves.

Loved this video, most of all your "WHAT" reactions. Some thoughts: first, in the last Shadow Market story, they disclose that Tessa is pregnant and we get to see both her and Jem's reaction to it. Maybe it'll help you digest that big bombshell a bit better and I agree with you, I think it's going to be very important as well. Second, Kit & Ty not saying goodbye BROKE me. Third, I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT MARRIAGE PROPOSAL AND CEREMONY BUT I AM SO HAPPY WE GOT AND THAT THEY GOT THEIR HAPPY BEGINNING. Fourth, THAT ENDING? ALTERNATE JACE WANTS WHAT?! WHAT? WHAT? HOW? WHAT? .... In summary, so many QUESTIONS.
I know nothing about this series but just watching how passionate you are about it is why I love booktube so much. Please do more videos like this I really enjoyed it. I'm also super interested in the series now so I'm going to try it out. Good to have you back you've been missed!!! :)
