0:00 Introduction: Is UV radiation bad?
    0:37 What is UV radiation?
    5:20 Potential UV radiation benefits
9:10 Learn more about vitamin D!
Many people think they need to avoid ultraviolet radiation-their first thought may even be that it causes cancer. Today we're going to talk about the potent anti-inflammatory effects of UV radiation and its other benefits.
UV radiation is a part of the spectrum of energy from the sun. Humans have adapted over time to survive the sun's radiation and use it to our advantage.
Ultraviolet radiation is the only part of the sun's energy that helps the body make vitamin D, which is essential. Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins for your immune system and is an incredibly potent anti-inflammatory.
While chronic exposure to UV radiation is unhealthy and can increase your risk of certain skin cancers, it may have significant health benefits in small doses.
Too much exposure to ultraviolet radiation can also cause wrinkles, loss of collagen, and aging spots. But having enough antioxidants in your skin may help protect you from these issues.
If you build up the antioxidants in your skin-in small doses, the benefits of ultraviolet radiation may outweigh the negatives.
    Potential benefits of UV radiation:
‱ It has an anti-inflammatory effect
‱ It may contribute to decreasing your risk of autoimmune diseases
‱ It may help reduce the risk of TB
‱ It may help suppress the symptoms of certain skin conditions
‱ It may help reduce pain
‱ It may help regulate cortisol
‱ It can help increase nitric oxide
    ‱ It has reparative actions
‱ It may help elevate your mood and balance serotonin

I've suffered with asthma for over 65 years. I've seen dozens of doctors in one capacity or another.
Asthma is an inflammatory ailment but I have never, ever had a medical person recommend Vitamin D as protection from some of this inflammation.

    God bless them both.

I live in NE Ohio right on Lake Erie. I believe 100 % on this. We are always cloudy in the winter. We get very depressed, low energy but days we see the sun it’s glorious. There is a lot of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer in our area. Thank goodness I’m ketovore ( more carnivore days) which gets me through this lack of sun. I am also on prescription vitamin D as over the counter did not raise my levels. 50,000 twice a week. I am 67 and thankfully do well. Thanks for this information.

Are you careful to take K2 with your D3? Because without K2, the D3 doesn't work very well. Dr. Berg has a video about that if you search it out. Also, the ones that don't work, as in over the counter and some prescriptions, are made by big Pharma, they are artificial junk ingredients and not natural.

It's wonderful for mood. I always drink green tea before I spend ten minutes in the sun. It's protects your skin. Also, any antioxidants, such as vitamin C , vitamin E, zinc, resvaratrol, Q10, Alpha Lipoic acid, collagen supplement, etc. There is a reason why plants and animals are not affected by the sun. The junk we eat interacts with the sun, creating harmful oxidation.

But as a kid and teenager I NEVER wore sunscreen all those years & was exposed to the sun daily & I am not saying don't wear sunscreen I am just talking about my experience . Nonetheless; I can say for sure that helped my skin 100% because now that I am in my early 40's people think I'm 30. My skin has NO wrinkles either its genetic or all those years of sun exposure really did help me. Exposure to sun with moderation to produce D is really good for all those benefits Dr. Berg explained & he is 100 correct.

@Ocean Size 1) Olive oil has antioxidant properties. 2) I can't walk into the store and buy perilla oil, whatever TF that is, and know literally nothing about it, including whether it's really perilla oil. I do know that the olive oil I buy has been tested, and I can get it at a good value. Plus, it's served me well, as I pointed out.
I'm sure cavemen loved their perilla oil. Our genetics must be highly tuned to it.
PS: Also, and maybe most importantly, seed oils are almost always heavily damaged when extracted, making all that fancy BS not just useless but harmful. Great example? Canola oil.

I couldn't be a better living example of how what is being said in this video is true. Despite a genetic predisposition to psoriasis, I didn't even know I had it until I moved to a colder country that lacks sunlight for most of the year. Back home in southern Europe before relocating, I used to notice tiny spots coming out in winter which would however regularly disappear during spring and summer months. The catch is too much sunlight. If I got burnt, the disease would manifest itself in autumn. The cycle of this condition and the (positive or potentially negative) correlation with the sun couldn't be any more clear to me.

The other benefit to sun exposure is the infrared light to produce intercellular melatonin that acts as an antioxidant that also protects against UV damage. I think a video that describes the interplay between those two frequencies and also the blue light to help set the circadian rhythms...

So, for those who spend most of their time indoors, and I'm thinking about senior citizens, particularly in nursing homes, etc. I'm guessing it's important for people to know that sitting by a window in the sunshine is not going to supply vitamin D. This is a first in my entire life as I’ve always been low with Vitamin D. I also had good thyroid levels for the first time (I think thanks to Healthy Keto & Tudca and the relationship with thyroid and liver/gallbladder). Many things to celebrate. However my doctor found lumps in my breasts and I will soon get more imaging (the first mammogram showed just a concern with one breast). Now I’m hoping and praying that I have too much calcium in my breasts from too much Vitamin D đŸ™đŸœ I’m hoping all my Vitamin D is protective. But I have had a worry that just because my blood level of Vitamin D was high
. Is my body actually able to use it? I will get more blood tests soon and I’ll see show my vitamin d changed after not taking it for awhile. Anyhow, hoping for the best and come summer 2023, I know I’ll be out absorbing the sun with my shirt off for short stints.
