There have been a lot of comments of about using Vitamin K in the comment section and I do agree with some of comments. I did make a video on Vitamin K the past. Here is the link czcams.com/video/pR9KN7xjxMY/video.html
There seems to be some interest on the possible side effects of taking too much Vitamin D so here are the links.

We live in Alaska and don't have any sun exposure for 8 months of the year. On my own, I started taking 15,000 IU per day and retested around 3 months later. My level jumped up to 64.8 level. You are doing the right thing! It only took You 3 months and it took me six months. I have also found taking a teaspoon of baking soda and a teaspoon of honey only at bedtime will put your PH lrevel up about half a point or more in the morning. When using the PH strips do it in the morning before you eat or drink anything and that will give you the most accurate reading. If you want to check your vitamin D level because it is not covered by OHIP ( I wonder why?) you can get ph strips at a health food store but not a drug store and again I wonder why! If your PH is 6.75 or higher your vitamin D level is fine. In Canada vitamin D3 is only available in 1000 IU thanks to Health Canada . It is very expensive to buy it like that and better to buy 10.000 units per capsule and that way there are less fillers. I wonder how the drug companies pulled that one off. I read all the studies Health Canada had to lower the vitamin D lower dose ( Thanks to a local MP ) and there was nothing that was definate and they said more study was needed. Who is going to do the study? It certainly wont be a drug company. The drug companies have known since 1945 that vitamin D is a very important vitamin. Look up 3 drugs DALSOL DELATIN and DRISNOL they were nothing more than 50,000 units of D2 and Doctors prescribed one pill a day but is a man made synthetic vitamin but it had excellent results against almost any virus and Cancer but those drugs like all drugs had some severe side effects. The only way a drug company can make money on a vitamin is to produce it on there own and then give it a name other than Vitamin D. When I did my research I found that the number one state per capita in the US that had the highest skin cancer rate per capita was not California or Nevada or Florida it was Michigan so my conclusion is that the sun does not cause skin cancer but it may trigger it if you are low in vitamin D or have a low PH ( low PH and low vitamin D are related). You will not have a low PH and a high Vitamin D level. There is more a lot more but there are some very good books out there if you know where to look. If you watch a program about vitamins and then they want you to buy there vitamins be careful. A lot of these companies know next to nothing and are only interested in a sale. I didnt intend to write a book but I guess I did!

I live in Canada and began supplementing with 3,000-5,000 IUs of Vitamin D daily back in April 2020. At the time, it was primarily a way to improve my chances of fighting a potential covid infection, but a couple of months after taking it, I noticed I no longer suffered from gout flares. I started re-introducing many foods that had traditionally triggered gout attacks over the previous 10 yeears, and to my suprise, there was little to no reaction. I believe that Vitamin D modulates the inflammatory response and I'm certain it is responsible for radically improving my gout. It's surpising that few physicians pay attention to Vitamin D deficiency especially for individuals that live in northern countries with little sunlight for much of the year. For me it has been a game changer.

Vitamin D deficiency isn't associated specifically with gout, but it is strongly associated with arthritic conditions, so perhaps you have some arthritis, perhaps as well as gout. Even if your vit D level has a tendency to drop, it might take over a year after taking supplements to drop to a level that will cause you obvious health problems. Unless you've had specific blood tests, you can't really know what's going on.

What you wrote (and your name) brings to mind a recent "what I've learned" CZcams episode about quality protein intake and that most people are lacking. In one point of the video it talks about how pig farmers measure the amount of individual amino acids (protein) they're feeding their pigs, yet registered dieticians do no such thing for humans and will lump poor quality plant proteins in total intake when they're usually down 50% or more on important amino acids vs animal sources. Bottom line, no one cares about your real health unless your stinking rich and pay them lots of money. Vitamin D is one of the great overlooked immune-supporting compounds. For around two decades, I got sick on a regular basis, twice a year. I was diagnosed with Chronic Sinusitus and usually had to take two rounds of medication to get past flare-ups, over the space of two-three weeks. Then my dermatologist, who did a deep-dive into some of my chronic ailments, put me on a D3 suppliment. Since then, it's become rare for me to go to the doctor, outside of annual physicals. I can actually breathe through both nostrils, and my sinuses drain normally. Within three days of the onset of symptoms, most would-be illnesses tend to resolve themselves.

I dont remember the exact amount of time on 30,000, but i started on 10,000 went to 20,000 then few weeks in between each adjustment just because I know that to much when your low on magnesium can cause heart palputations , but it was a routine physical that i seen D levels at 34 . if i where to guess about 3 to 4 months , then when I seen it was in the 70s I uped it to 30,000 . I get blood work done every six months ,last one was 120 on my D3. my wife was in the 30s and she is at the beach all the time , so she went to 10,000 and now its in the 60s now shes on 20,000. she wants her levels at 75 to 80. Im due for another blood work but ive been bouncing around with the doses lately because im low on Mag. oh ya my Dr said my D3 at 120 was toxic , I laughed.

Great info! Thanks for putting out this video. In 2015 my naturopathic ARNP/primary care sent my blood to a special lab for a "deep dive". We found out I have a genetic mutation that affects my ability to produce intrinsic factor, thereby impacting my body's ability to absorb Vit D, Vit B12, and other vitamins. I believe that's what you were referencing when you mentioned polymorphism conditions. It gets worse with age. When I tested in 2015 my Vit D level was 10 and my B12 was so low that my ARNP said she wasn't sure how I was actually functional. It's been a while, but I think my ARNP prescribed 25,000 IU/day for 2 months and B12 injections. I fell off the wagon with my vitamins and need to get back on in order to grow hair and nails again, as well as protect my lungs (another genetic issue) and prevent cancer (family history).

Real talk, I've been dealing with some harsh depression for nearly a decade now, the last month I've started taking Vitamin D3 daily while also starting to have my coffee out in the sun and having brief walks just anything to get out and I've started to feel amazing, if you're like me out there and having a hard go of it emotionally and even if it's been years like me, please think about buying some Vitamin D3 when you're shopping next it'll help so much. I'm not there yet but my god I feel a lot better on the road to recovery. Much love.
I'll add, I'm not sure about the thousands per day there's many conflicting things that say it's safe and unsafe, I see that you can safely take large amounts and your body stores it but if I took 2000iu a day for a month when 600-800 is "recommended" like you say but you also say 5000 is fine idk what to believe "More than 100 micrograms a day is unsafe" but 2 capsules for me is 50 micrograms and 2000iu" what does that mean?

It is perfectly safe to take 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 if you also take 200mcg of Vitamin K2 daily as well. There are formulations which combine the two, e.g. 4000IU D3 with 100mcg of K2 in one pill. Always take it with fat so it absorbs.

@@AdamSanchez-cd6wx Really sorry about your wife! Terrible thing to go through! The thing with Vitamin D3 and supplements is it usually takes about 3 to 6 months to get your vitamin D level up and then you need to keep it there. There are some good books that I would recommend. Bob barefoot has about 6 books for about $100 delivered to your door. Barefoot on vitamin D - Barefoot on coral calcium - the calcium factor. He is not a Doctor but he is a chemist but he knows how the body works and what it needs. I agree with just about everything he has written. I have about 5000 or probably more hours than that doing my own research and I know things Doctors dont. I never knew about his books until after I had looked at everything on my own and when I read his books I knew I had reached the right conclusion. His books are a must read. As I was learning no one would even listen to me when I talked about vitamins and supplements but I no longer have any fear of any virus or even Cancer and it is my opinion that Cancer is easier to beat than a stubborn virus. There are a lot of other things you can do to get to a proper vitamin d level but I dont want to write a book. If I hadnt looked into it I would have been dead 15 years ago. Actually my heart stopped so I guess I was dead! I am healthy now and I am going to stay that way.

I currently take 3,000 IU as a maintenance dose daily over and above anything absorbed from sun and food. I live in Texas, so have lots of sun, but of course, need to balance against the risk of skin cancer. My PCP has me do a yearly blood panel and specifically checks for Vitamin D levels. So far, all is normal, but I do wonder how many people simply never get tested for this and suffer the often subtle symptoms? Could this explain many of the muscle and bone aches and pains so many complain of as they age, thereby reducing the quality of life they have?

I had been taking a maintenance dose 5,000 IU/day of D3 for several years, changed endocrinologist (hypothyroid) and new endocrinologist strongly advised that I cut down my Vit D3, as in his opinion it was too high and worried about potential for kidney stones. This is a complete turn around from my previous doc, who was always stressing vit D3.

Dr. Sung has a video about this as well (possible Vitamin D side effects). The bottom line is - it is almost impossible to "overdose" on vitamin D. It's one of the "friendliest" vitamins out there. I think out of 140,000 who supplemented high daily dosages - only one had some poisoning and his levels were way above 200 ng/ml. There are many who recommend taking Vitamin D with Vitamin K2 and a healthy source of fat, and of course drink plenty of water (and no coffee or tea as caffeine and tannins disrupt our body's ability to absorb nutrients). Best time of day to supplement with vitamin D is probably mid-day with a meal (early morning less effective and evening - it could cause a mild form of insomnia).

Not surprising, his answer: “that is what we were taught in medical school”.

The healthcare industry would have you believe you will achieve toxicity at anything over 4,000 i.u.'s per day, which is horse malarkey. If everyone stopped taking vitamin D, our hospitals would be full (which is what they want?). So they teach all those poor med students at pharma school, I mean med school that 400 i.u.'s is ample. 400 i.u.s is not enough for a small child.

I overdosed on vitamin D. I was deficient at 28 and took 15,000 IU a day for months and never could get my level over 30. I ended up with hypercalcium and finally developed parathyroid hyperplasia. My serum calcium was critical high and I had severe heart palpitations. Turns out I was severely magnesium deficient which I found out was critical for vitamin D absorption. After supplementation with magnesium chloride hexahydrate and malate my vitamin D levels shot up to 75 in a short amount of time, my calcium levels normalized and finally I could get more than 4 hours of sleep a night. I’m easily maintained at 4000 IU per day now. Too much Vit D will enhance calcium absorption so if you aren’t getting any results, consider supplementing with magnesium and vitamin C with it. I had to remove 3 parathyroid glands and I was fortunate not to have a heart attack, kidney stones or a stroke from months of hyper calcium.

So you really weren't overdosing on D, you were underdosing on K2. As an example: salt - you need to balance your salt intake with 4X as much potassium as your salt intake. When someone tells you your sodium levels are too high, yup it could be that. But it could mean that your potassium intake is too low.
