HOPE AND HOME

  • Forty years ago, the Coalition for the Homeless secured the legal right to shelter for New Yorkers without homes, creating a baseline of decency in our city.
We need now to build on that baseline, because people need homes.
For home is where hope lives.
The hope for a better future.
The hope for safety, security, and stability.
The hope to succeed in school.
The hope for good health, and a long happy life.
The hope for a decent job.
The hope that our kids will grow, and thrive.
The hope to be seen not as a problem, but as a human.
The hope to have a fair chance in this great city: The city that made a promise 40 years ago that no one should have to live, or die, on our streets.
    With housing comes hope.
And everyone should have the right to hope.
