Yes it does, and when he said the medium would accommodate a sweater, there was a little bit of doubt in his voice. He said he would be swallowed by the large, though. TBH, if someone is between sizes, sizing down is almost always a bad idea. It would be better to simply move on to some other kind of coat. The McMurdo is a high quality garment for sure, but it doesn't have a draw cord at the hem or the waist, which is a serious design flaw.
@Chilly Chase 2 - I think sizing down is a bad idea, unless you buy the coat with the intention of wearing it solely with long sleeve crew neck tee-shirts. I agree that everyone is built differently, and not everyone is made for the same winter coats.
@Tazamack North Face performs the same as a good for a quarter of the price. I sold my Goose to buy two North Faces (Nupste and McMurdo). Still had cash left.
