13:29 For anyone wondering: It has nothing to do with viruses.
Leeching vs seeding just refers to how many people are downloading vs how many are uploading the torrent files.
Torrents use P2P (Peer to Peer), meaning that everyone who has some of the files can help serve those to everyone downloading them, making the download faster for everyone.
So, more seeders means a faster download and more leechers means it'll be slower. Leeching (downloading without uploading) is generally frowned upon, and some sites will kick you out if you leech.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The "Merchant Copy" is the one you add the tip to, sign it, then hand it back to the restaurant. They then close the order out by entering the tip in their system. The "Customer Copy" is the one you keep. Some people write the tip there too for their own records. Others just crumple them up and toss them.

    • @solandri69
      @solandri69 Před měsícem

More comprehensively, the merchant initially charges your card for the amount of the meal, then returns your card and the receipt. When you add a tip to the receipt, they go back into the credit card system (either right after they pick up the merchant copy of the receipt, or at the end of the day), and modify the charge to add the tip amount.
What prevents abuse is that the customer can call their CC company and claim they were charged the wrong amount (you do check your credit card bill before paying it off, right?). This kicks off an investigation, and the first piece of evidence the merchant needs to provide is the merchant's copy of the receipt showing (1) the amount billed, (2) the tip, and (for the U.S.) (3) the customer's signature. If any of these don't match the transaction or show signs of being forged, the merchant loses and the CC company initiates a chargeback.
This is why it's important to fill out the tip line and write the total amount you intend to pay on the total line. Even if (especially if) you don't plan to leave any tip. Fail to do either and the restaurant employees can write in bogus numbers and give themselves a fat tip after you've left.

Things near the ocean floor require the ecosystem above them to survive. The only life that could currently survive indefinitely without the sun is a certain microbe that can live off the combination of low level radiation within the Earth's crust and the heat from the core. It's theory that life began around geothermal vents under the sea, but that'd probably been the end of it too. Most current vent dwellers wouldn't have evolved to return there in their more complex forms. Anything happening around a particular vent would just kill whatever happened to exist, unless there was another close enough to survive migration. The crust microbe, though, is basically everywhere below a certain subterranean depth.

this is an actual psychological thing. when you're very young, you don't have much in the concept of experience of time, thus most things seem to take a very long time, even when they're not. but as you age, your concept of the passage of time expands and you experience how some things take a very long time and some thing take a short amount of time and you can compare it to the passage of time in your life, thus as you become old, and you life span is very long, you notice how things the you once though took a long time are actually very short compared to your life span. thus, you feel like things go by faster (especially days, months, and even years).
an example: you only have $100, thus another $100 seems like a lot, but if you have MILLIONS of $'s then $100 doesn't seem like much anymore. when you only have a few years of life experience, a day seems to take forever and a year is an eternity, but when your in your 80s, then a day vanishes nearly instantly and a year passes quickly...

    • @KainYusanagi

That's not why. It's because you're experiencing new things all the time, so your brain is constantly working to catalogue everything and create linkages and connections between things (aka memories), and as you get older less and less things experienced give you that same amount of work, so your general perception of time speeds up, while your specific perception of time remains relatively the same (that is, when paying attention to the clock, time passes excruciatingly slowly).

    • @SZfiftyfour

So the longer you live, your perception of time literally speeds up faster and faster. We're all saying the same thing anyway, but I'm pretty sure it's not a direct result of mental demands, just that the same amount of time is less and less of your overall existence.

Comes from many times having fallen asleep at the grinding machine (up to eight hours per cycle) in my previous job at the industrial gear factory.

men feel bad about their sexual activities because we are taught from a VERY young age that A. masturbation is bad and we're bad for doing it. and B. any sexual thoughts we have about females are ALSO bad and we should feel bad for having them. Thus, all aspects of male sexuality are shamed and dismissed, so men end up growing up with this pressure from society that anytime they want to express their sexuality, they should be embarrassed and ashamed. We end up internalizing these things and thus feel bad and ashamed after anytime we express our sexuality.

23:47 Being outside when it's cold is fine unless you're clothes are wet and you know there's no way to get warm (like going back inside) for a while.
If you're so hot that you start to sweat things will go bad real quick if it's cold outside 'cause now you shirts wet and water takes a long time to change it's temperature which means once your shirt gets cold it will retain that temperature making it hard for you're body to warm back up.
When I was younger I used to live in NY and my grandma used to say "don't run when it's cold outside, you'll get sick!!"
and when I asked "why?" I never got an answer so I did it anyway.
Anyway... I learned quickly that it's important to control my body temperature when it gets cold.

23:46 For context, there are many places in Canada that can reach -40°C before windchill. With windchill it can make it feel like -50°C (-58°F) or lower. If you are working outside, you can get over heated from constant activity and wearing winter gear designed to trap heat. This is only temporary as convection from sweat kicks in and you VERY rapidly lose heat, especially in your extremities. The longer your remain outside in this state exponentially increases the likelihood of hypothermia, frost burn or bite. So, yes you are VERY much in danger.

Did you actually think anyone needed that context? Everyone knows canada is a frozen hellscape.
