I want to start working on the body of my 924. I figured I need to make a rotisserie or roll over jig. I wanted to use as little metal as possible as it's expensive and I don't know how to weld. I had a lot this thick wood leftover from my house project so I used that for most of it. Welds are really ugly but hey, it works. I really need to practice more with my welding and get me a gas bottle as I'm using flux core right now. Excited to start removing the undercoat and do some rust repairs. Body is in a decent shape over all but driver's side footwell and both sills needs work.
Thank you for watching and stay tuned for more!

Detecting a fresh paint job on the horizon!

So cool that you shared the failed weld approach too! It’s important to learn from these 😍
My other concern would be that there is nothing to stop the chassis from spinning with the wood blocks, so you’d need something external for that.
Ah, I see at the end now. I actually don’t think 360 rotation is ever really needed to weld or paint on it. (Saw it from the local chassis guy who’s been restoring cars for 2-3 decades now)
Nice budget tool though! Great job 🎉

Thanks! I didn't want to hide my mistakes. Learning is the whole point and this is my first welding project.
I'll just drill a hole through the pipe and into the blok while the car is sideways. And put a large bolt or screwdriver as I did in the front so it stays in place.

@@RestorationApprentice imho 45 degree is enough to work on the underside even to paint and is much safer too.
If you have the rocker supported on the lower side, you also don’t rick the car “bending” should you need to cut into it.
Looking forward to the new videos!
(You got me into a 924S for this winter, but nowhere this deep restoration planned ;) )

Very handy addition to the shop! Hoping to start work on my 924s soon, think I'll have to go to a similar level of stripdown. Managed to snag a 2 post car lift on facebook market place for a good price, crossed fingers I can do everything on that. Keen to see your repairs using the jig, reckon I'll be copying a lot of your homework :P

Thank you for watching! lift definitely makes life easier and I would get one if I could fit it in my garage. But turning the car 90 degrees is still needed for some work, I think.

Slowly... Working on the car underbody just takes a lot of time. I'm also working on the engine, that should come out soon. I usually post updates on Instagram.

Thanks! It's not a rust bucket but still a lot of hours of work. I really want to do the best job possible and need to practice my welding a lot more.
