    The biggest thing I notice about watching old MJ clips is that you actually had to be crafty to get to the rim. Nowadays guys just plow their way straight forward knowing nobody can or will step in front of them because a foul will be called every time. Watching MJ weave his way to the bucket and find the openings is a work of art.

      @snareroll116 Před 3 lety +1

      @@davidschmidt1793 also look up said stats of Bills team and compare them to other teams of his era they weren't that much more stacked they just played better as a team. When your best player, Bill Russell, isn't leading your team in shot attempts and instead is 3rd/4th obviously it makes the lesser players stats look better.
      Also ball movement is the best kind of basketball because a great team always beats a great star in a series. See Wilt in 67 he shot less and his team dominated because it's hard to beat a star that's playing within a system that gets the lesser players more shot attempts...
      Because Wilt is Wilt he can go out there and drop 30 points no matter the system.
      So why not put a lesser player that has strengths that you don't in a system/spot where they will thrive? Most basketball players can really ball most just don't get past the politics or aren't in the right system. They're in the NBA for a reason.

      MJ is obviously amazing but it’s not wrong to think other players aren’t either. MJ could shoot mids and score at will when slashing. Lebron is just as good a slasher worse mid range shooter but also much better from 3. Kobe is better on defense and worse on offense. Curry is the greatest shooter ever and can also score at will but not much on defense. This was MJ at his best and he was amazing but Lebron is Definitely close with him in my eyes. They kinda give me the same feeling when I see them. KD aswell.

    What makes MJ the goat is that his style of play & accomplishments entertained the globe and created a culture on & off the court that propelled the league to heights unfathomable in the 1950s & 60s. His greatness is magnified even more by the leagues steady decline in popularity since his exit. Mike’s time in the league was the perfect storm & will not be rivaled, let alone surpassed, by anyone before or after. I’ve been watching MJ since 1987 & I thought the goat convo was over with way back then. June 2021…forget about it.🍺

    This version of MJ dunked with such ease, he made the hoop look low. I haven't seen a guard make it look this low, not even Vince, even though he for sure jumped higher, but not faster. It's just that MJ's hands are so huge, such a big advantage compared to everyone else, and he was unbelievably quick off his feet. It's unfair how physically gifted he was. He was quicker than anybody else, faster, jumped quicker and as high as the best jumpers, with basically zero need for space, was exceptionally mobile, had the best balance, and great strength relative to his weight, and jumped equally well off one and two legs. Usually, if guys are prototypical athletes, like Wilt, Zion, Shaq, Iverson, Barkley or Lebron, they have at least one glaring weakness as if the Universe is trying to limit them. MJ had no weakness - fine motor skills were excellent, you tend to see this only in weaker people, that's how Curry and Bird are great shooters while these gross motor skill dominant guys like Shaq and Lebron have difficulty shooting REALLY well. Jordan had both qualities at seemingly 100%. That's what's crazy to me about the phenomenon Michael Jordan. It's very, very difficult to be better than this guy was. Right body, right mind, right time, right place, exceptional development.

    • @SFXingful
      @SFXingful Před 3 lety +3

      @@pauldelacruz2091 No, he didn't have a 48 inch vertical, that's a myth. Do the math. First of all, a true vertical jump is a jump from a standstill, like the NFL players do it at the combine. Some of these guys jump much higher than the NBA players, but a 48 inch vertical is something that never happened even there, the record is 46 inches, set in 2005. They do not measure the vertical jump in that manner at NBA combines/tests. Jordan would have his entire head, even his chin above the rim at 6-6, from a standing position, with no approach. I have seen Vince Carter with his head right at rim height, slightly above it, when he windmilled on the break vs. the Bucks during a 40+ point game, that's with maximum runway. Jordan never jumped this high, not even in the Dunk Contests. A true 40 inch vertical jump would be extremely impressive for someone who is above 6-5. Many guys, especially smaller people, have jumped higher than Jordan. That's just the measurable truth. Still, he made the rim look low, his mitts made a huge difference when dunking the ball, gave him a lot of control and the ability to contort his body, where others could only do layups he could still dunk.

      Great observation! That's because Jordan can play in a system and score and playmake within the flow of it. LBJ demands to be the system so everything is more work for him. Kobe would often abandon the system mid game so that's why even though he hit some the most difficult shots ever it took more effort.
      Jordan's advantage over both them was getting coached by Dean Smith at UNC. Learning discipline, playing within the system and patience. Which it shows right? A relaxed, cool 46pts and 9 ast. Lol, funny to even think that. He's a notch above.

    its not even close. just look how tenacious he is as a defender too. coming from the other block to block a shot. stealing the ball. his defense is god tier too. theres no question who the greatest is.
