It just doesn't get more cinematic than this. The NBA Finals. Less than a minute left. Down one. The opposing team has the ball. You steal it from their best player. You dribble down the court. Your defender picks you up. Less than ten seconds left. You hit him with the cross over and break him. You take the game winning shot. And you hit nothing but net. The game ends. Forty-five points. Six championships. Zero Finals losses. That's perfection right there.

Except from the fact that Michael Jordan has the worst performance in the history of the 3 point contest. He only made 5/30. Jordan only averages 28% from the 3 point line, while LeBron averages 34% from the point line (I am talking of Jordan's stats the seasons that the 3 point line was actually as far as nowadays, excluding 1994/1995, 1995/1996 and 1996/1997 when the 3 point line was put closer). In addition, Jordan never made more than 100 three points in a regular season, while LeBron James has 14 seasons with over 100 three points scored. James is not only a better 3 point shooter than Jordan. James averages more assists, rebounds and blocks per game than Jordan in the playoffs. Most complete player ever, Mr. James, LeBron James.

Adding the best shooter in the league who just carried his team to the ECF and went 7 with MJ to a team with the best PF who came in 2nd for MVP, Stockton who was still one of the top 5 PG in the league still, had a very efficient season. That going against MJ and the bulls. Rodman averaged 3 and 8 in the finals , couldn’t move around the court like he once was able to, was a liability on defense most of the time and couldn’t score to save himself. Add that to Scottie who didn’t want play with the bulls anymore , Inefficient in the series and no longer an elite defender. It wouldn’t be fair for the time period.

@Nice2787Oh yes he would. 70% of the league is absolute horseshit. That's why a Euroleague player can come in and up his scoring by almost 5 ppg, because NBA is filled with teenage athletes who can't play a lick of basketball.
LeBron James went to Finals last season while facing OG Anubody, Bogdanovic, and two teenagers from Boston. Russell wasn't much of a scorer, but he was one of the better perimeter defenders in a league where defense was still allowed. Shawn Marion's corpse was able to shut down James in the Finals even though every rule was against it. Good try, but try to have a clue about this lovely game we call basketball. Hating someone with no clue about the game is just sad.

@@emmanuelenyinwa1443 I really don't mean to embarrass you but you are kind of asking for it, aren't you? Pippen played only 44 games that season and Rodman was a shell of his former self. MJ and the Bulls won 62 games that season. Also during the second three peat Jordan missed exactly zero games. No resting during the season, no missed games in the playoffs.
He was also 35 years old and was asked to be the only scorer in a league where teams still played defense and games ended in the 80's. So in you SMH game, he scored more than half his teams points. Which was his job because Kukoc was the only guy in the team who had any ability offensively.
Now to the most idiotic part of your nonsense: "He was scoreless in the 4th". I guess you were trying to say he scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, right? Because that's what he did. He also pulled them within one, stole the ball and put Russell on skates. If you believe a 200 pound man can throw another man the same size ten feet with his off hand while barely touching him, you probably believe in flat earth as well because physics don't concern you.

It's hard to overstate how epic this performance was. Bulls up 3-2 in Utah and this is the era of the 2-3-2 playoff format. So if the Bulls lose, they play Game 7 again in Utah. They had just come off a grueling 7 game series against Indiana, they looked old and vulnerable. Utah had just swept the Shaq and Kobe Lakers 4-0 and it showed. Pippen goes down early with a back injury and is completely invisible, finishing with 8pts, 4asts, 3 rebs. It's all up to 35 year old Mike to bring them to the Promised Land. He drags the limping Bulls to victory with an all-time great performance when everything was going against them. Utah had all the advantages except for one... they didn't have the GOAT.

Jazz took em to 6 games in a very rigged series (shotclock violations that counted for the bulls, and against the jazz, very clear uncalled fouls, pushoffs, etc...) Don't argue with me on it til you actually go back and watch the full uncut series. All these bull shit calls and the jazz still managed to take it to 6 games. if the series was officiated without the purpose of marketing then the jazz would have won in 5 or 6.

“You trample on my turf and I’ll trample on yours” 😂😂
In Game 5 at the United Center, the Mailman who struggled in the previous 4 games delivered by scoring 39 points and singlehandedly sent the series back to Utah. MJ retaliated in Game 6 by upstaging Malone at the Delta Center, scoring 45 points including 3 crucial plays in the last 42 seconds . Down by 3, Jordan went for a quick layup, then double-teamed Malone and stripped him of the ball and up the other end, beat Russell with a crossover before delivering “The Shot” to cement his legacy as the GOAT bringing the Bulls their 6th NBA title making it 6 Finals, 6 Finals MVPs and 6 Titles.

  • @tyleru96

It's crazy to say this considering MJ scored 45, but Russell actually defended him really well in this game. I've watched the full game back so many times and apart from maybe a couple of plays, there was really not a whole lot Russell did wrong, defensively. He funneled Jordan to help, didn't give him any space, kept him out of the lane (as well as anyone could hope to do), and contested really well. In short, he made him work for every single point, which is really all you can do. MJ is just MJ.

Plus by him playing 1 on 1 so much --- he had all the jazz players disengaged and standing around for half the game.

In just 4 sec in the shot clock and 37 sec of actual time left, MJ closed the gap by just 1 point. The steal in 21 sec and aesthetic crossover shot at 7 sec had put the rest in the game a history.
And if you noticed, during the remaining minutes of the game, Carl, Stockton, and Hornacek were all actively adding points for Jazz, while Pippen, Cucok, and Kerr were decapitated. It was only MJ giving all that was left in his tank to make a basket for the Bulls.
One of the comments here also mentioned the scoring of MJ being symbolic:
    - 1st half he scored 23 points = his Jersey number
    - Final points was 45 = his Jersey coming back from 1st retirement.
    Chicago Bulls Overall :
    - NO losses in all games in finals they competed. They reached a total of 6 finals and won them all.
    - All 6 game finals which they won did not reach game 7 on each.
Only the Chicago Bulls has such accomplishments in the history of NBA and it may take another hundred years or so before another team in NBA could equal or surpass their record.
In fact if you put all the MJ & the Bulls' accomplishments mentioned above and many more others throughout the Chicago Bulls Golden Era, you must be cursing as you would argue to yourself that these were UNREAL.
Such an accomplishments when put together must only exist and real in Hollywood movies.
But God so love the world that he gave us this beautiful being and a wonderful team of Chicago Bulls to make us realise the wonders and boundlessness of his creations.
