Exactly. Notice also how MJ doesn't spend a lot of time dribbling around, wasting time off the clock, like a lot of players do nowadays. He decides his line of attack and goes for it, not spending 10-15 seconds dribbling the ball trying to find an opening.

People of modern day don't appreciate Jordans stamina, strength, toughness, intensity coupled with the concentration and will to dominate. That is what separates him from the soft players of today who play with so many stoppages and rests, and little to no contact. Jordan is the greatest not just for his talent, and athleticism, it was a complete package at maximum level. He was made so through fire at both ends of the floor. Todays superstars are made through softness, so it just doesn't have the same value when comparing and the league defense is a joke.

1997 was his best year probably. In 97 MJ set the record for most made midrange jumpers making over 500 of them on over 1000 attempts. MJ had no wasted movement at all that year. All he did was move without the ball shooting catch & shoot midrange jumpers, little left left to right or right to left jabsteps, scored in the post, small little pump fakes if they bite on the fadaway or turnaround, not really shooting over the double team but shooting the ball right before the double comes and only did a stutter step hesi pull up midrange off the dribble & did a crossover if the defender bites on the hesi with very little dribbles.
MJ didn’t really shoot 3s but shot them when he was open that year. Every player that wants to be on that next level should study MJ’s 97 year. MJ had such a surgical approach that year. I bet you MJ time of possession was very low that year despite his high usage, MJ just didn’t play around with the ball a lot & found a way to score right away without taking too much time on the shot clock

The thing about MJ is you have understand the time we were in and the beauty he brought to the game. It's not just that he was good at basketball. It was more than that. You knew you were watching something different, something special. If he's not your GOAT, fine. But you can't deny he was something special. We hadn't seen it before and we haven't seen it since. We never made a big deal out of the starting lineups. But damn if I wasn't glued to the TV just for that. He had a thing that moved you and made you want to watch. If he never won a championship, he'd have that. But he combined that presence with success, and it was the greatest NBA ride we've ever been on. This Bullets team could have been an East contender in the early 2000s. They started this season 22-25 but finished 22-13 under coach Bickerstaff, would be on pace for 51 wins over 82 games. They had the talent, even had Ben Wallace on the bench, though he didn’t get any minutes in the playoffs. Shame they struggled with off court issues and were broken up.

Michael Jordan was so feared by the opposition because they had no clue what he was going to do offensively, which leads to panic and bad decision making in defence because of the fear of his superior abilities that allows him to have so many options with the ball!

In every one on one situation Jordan attacks his defender's mistake. Maybe, maybe prime KD could be as dangerous but that's just because he can pull up and shoot over anyone, but MJ has solutions for all situations.
