I see Mr Grumpy is in full on grump mode today 😂.
The Grumpster!
Grumpy old white man
And that’s why we love him grump away tony grump away
Playing the villain 😂
Paul has always added to the podcast. He brings good energy that you both feed off. Sometimes just the both of you get on each others nerves 😂
Sometimes 🤣🤣🤣
Tony is the epitome of whatever is new is good and whatever is old is bad, misguided to say the least
As a second hand car salesman that's funny
@@popsbubbles1242lol
He's a typical boomer. Has a very narrow minded view of everything and is always right. Then 6 months later he changes his tune once he tries it.
@@popsbubbles1242 I was just thinking exactly the same thing. 😂
@@pato10111 nailed it mate 😂 he is king boomer.
I'm still chuckling over Sam's childhood mate's name. Mungo. Says it all really.
And your point is what?
@@Millie-md4jk He tries to be one of the lads, just like Tony, but in fact he is very much part of the aristocracy, especially given who his dad is.
@@borjastick that’s my point - what’s your point
Lovely chap and v polite
The Grenadier should do very well in countries like Australia, especially the pick-up/Ute variant, where the Land Cruiser 70 has a long waiting list. Also with estates and landowners who don’t want air suspension etc. out of warranty.
Mr Grumpy has no idea. Hes excited about a 2200 kilogram 4 cylinder C63. Not excited about a 1400kg mid engined manual V6 Lotus
That Inios Grenadiar is a awesome truck and Tony will be eating his words. A new defender wont touch the Grenadiar off road. They will sell loads of them too.
Tony, Enzo Ferrari started work at Alfa Romeo. Now that is heritage.
Is it Tony's time of the month?
Tony saying he buys Porsche’s because of the racing heritage- then 20min later says he doesn’t care about racing heritage when talking about Alfa…….. pick a side mate🙈
Figures that Tony thinks a rally Porsche is crap but a rally Lambo is cool. Classic.
Its only because i love tony so much im up at 1am!! In New Zealand to watch this. You two need to come to NZ asap. Keep up the awsome work guys.
Totally agree i’m lucky. I’m a kiwi living & working in UK at present. But totally agree, Sam & Tony need to head over to New Zealand 🇳🇿👌👏
Never did I think that the Passat CC would be spoke about on this podcast! Brilliant!
Just on the talk of the new C63, it weights 2,111kg in saloon form compared to 1,780 for an xDrive M3 Competition.
That’s insanely heavy.
To add to what Sam was saying about the Defender, the Grenadier looks and feels (outside and inside) like it was meant to be used and abused. It's more Jeep Wrangler than a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
You can hose the grenadiar out, Try that with the new defender. New defender is way to posh for its own good.
I don't comment on CZcams much, but I think Sam's comment of "loving Old Ferraris and New Porsches" is validating. I grew up LOVING Ferraris and now I'm... meh...on the brand. Pista is great, 458 is great, but that's it. 992 GT3 Touring, GT3 RS, GT4, GT4 RS, Targa 4GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Carrera T, and Dakar are all dream cars. Quite a shift for me.
Pista looks decent in real life but I’d spend my money on Porsches for sure!
Pista sounds like a dull fart, GT3 is god like!
Tony is way off base regarding the Grenadier. This is an ultimate vehicle for sustainable overlanding which is a market that has exploded in recent years. It does everything better than the old Defender including comfort and appeals to the old school image of the Defender. At the same time it will be more reliable than the new Defender on and off road. There are also plans for a pop up camper add on. Stick to the road car reviews guys. You are awesome at that.
Exactly, he couldn't be more wide of the mark.
It’s a cracking vehicle to drive
I think we know what side of the bed Tony got out of today!
I rarely agree with Tony, but when it comes to the 911 Dakar, he’s right. If you want to go off road, just get a Raptor or a Range Rover or even a Jeep. Don’t even get me started on the Lamborghini off road thing 🙄
70 series landcruiser has been on sale for 30 years in Australia and is currently sold out until 2025. Some people like keeping cars for many years and modifying them (bigger tires, rims etc.) and for this purpose any current Land Rover product is crap because they are too complicated and break
Old Ferraris and New Porsches, I'm with you Sam!!
I think the lotus emira i4 starts at 60K plus options. The 72k one is a first edition which comes with all the kit as standard, hence the higher starting price. Although, given it has been two years since the prices were decided, I wouldn't be surprised if they increased the starting price.
50:29 that was a magic spell, aint't it 😂
Totally agree about the old defender shocking to drive
Keep up the good work Tony👌
You guys should check out the Varryx CZcams channel, this guy sits outside of Sant’Agata Bolognese and Maranello and records all the cars that he sees. He has footage of the Aventador replacement, SF90 VS, the 812 successor, and a lot of other cool stuff. That is where all the spy shots and everything come from
Another great episode, love it
This episode was one of the funniest because of tony and Sam’s arguing “not interested”🤣🤣
I think the Pagani utopia will age so well. Looking forward to the 992 st
Saw a fleet of 3 grenadiers testing here in the highlands of Scotland. They looked amazing
If I could add to the Ineos chat, in South Africa they are being sold through 4x4 megaworld which as the name would imply sell the most hardcore offroad equipment. Here the are positioned to compete with sort of the Toyota Land Cruiser instead of the fancier defender.
Favorite morning of the week!!!
THAT Tony is back! 😂
I agree with Tony. In all honesty, I think he's developed the Grenadier with militaries and military contracts in mind
Waiting on the 718 RS Spyder to replace my 718 Spyder! Still not been announced.
Try crossing Africa or Australia in the new Defender I have one on order, I live in the middle of nowhere and its perfect for me! To old and creaky for my old Defender TD5
And you're wrong about the M3 Touring. It's an aspirational car for most of us. You have a different, aloft, point of view from most people who lust after those type of car. Next time I see one from my Karoq 1.5 i'll smile :)
Lots of money sadly affects.
I'm considering a LR Sport HSE Diesel 2018 facelift onwards, you guys always recommend the car as a go to, but check all warranty issues have been carried out etc.
Is there a list of warranty concerns that should be carried on this make and model, and can you recommend a warranty to buy from who that would make ownership of such a desirable car more enjoyable with no anxiety 😉
Very entertaining episode lads
Grenadier is a work vehicle, it's a pickup ++. All LR products are basically big posy 4x4 cars. Totally different vehicle for totally different market. Not surprised Tony doesn't get it, he's not the right customer. Those that need them will get them, pleased that market segment is now catered for again.
Tony pulls no punches!
Tony is bang on in his assessment of the grenadier. it has taken too long to get to market. if it had come out before people had had a chance to warm to the new defender it would have had a chance. he is right that the world has moved on and even farmers are quite happy with touchscreens if It will go over their farm. if new defender was rubbish grenadier would be on a winner but you've only got to watch Harry metcalfes video of the 2 door on his farm to see that it's not. if it was 40K for a basic version it might sell but I don't think it will at this price, but as Ineos isn't short of a few pennies I think they'll be OK!
Next ep I’d be intrigued if you guys chat about the lee collection ultimate collision by valet at casino! What are you thoughts about it?
I think that part of the attraction of coming back to motor sports for manufacturers are lower costs + dev in multiple series. Ex: Imsa and WEC both sharing HyperCars and with restrictions reducing costs and letting the cars race in both series. Another example is alllll of the GT3 series in single and multi class racing series.
To my eyes, the Ioniq 5 looks like a modern version of an Austin Maestro! 😂
I believe the new 5 series and Skoda Superb are both out late in the year. You and Tony should do a road trip comparison
The grenadier has added all the lifestyle tat to get some non commercial sales. Surely a more road focused 4x4 will do a better job at that?
The Mustang Dark Horse would need mods to sell in U.K. & Europe. Latest regs say The tyres have to be within the arches now. Either narrower wheels or flared arches or both unfortunately.
Nice video!
Thanks Sam ,Tony haha Tony was on it there hating everything reminds me of alf garnett from untill death do us part some buzz 🏴
The Grenadier is for serious off-roaders that is designed to compete against original Defenders and Land Cruiser Troop Carriers for Australia and South Africa. Simple and durable is what these people like, the new Defender while capable, they would never consider those for driving deep into the outback.
Has Tony driven an Emira yet? I drove one at the weekend and it’s way more fun than a 718 4.0 and 911! And I work for Porsche!
Don't forget about the possible V-12 powered Roma that's been testing around Fiorano. Might be a test mule for 812 replacement or a V12 Roma
I feel the Roma doesn’t have the prestige to carry that engine, different market. My money is on the 812 replacement.
Sam needs to take Tony to Morocco to have fun on dirt/sand.
and leave him there??? 🤔🤔🤔
Some call it a m3 with a boot but I call it perfection.
lets gooo lunch just came
The Mustang dark horse will have the new wrap around digital dash & instrument cluster, similar to the new BMW design.
Looking forward to the Daytona. Imo the best Ferrari since the 458 Speciale.
Tony is right about the Lotus, imagine paying more for a 4 banger 😝
Aventador replacement was unveiled privately in Italy last week. World will see it in May
also unveiled to customers about a month ago in NY
29th of March.
Kind of surprised you guys didn't talk about ford in redbull
45:00
Where's second hand hatchbacks of London today?
Do . More . Of . These .
The dark horse isn't the equivalent to GT500. Lol. It's under it. The carbon fiber track pack I have is a 100k plus car. Not the normal one you guys drove
Speaking of The Late Break Show, would you bring him onto the podcast? Probably the two automotive CZcams channels I watch the most!
Farms and estates always had the old Defender around, almost always battered and dented because it did all that dirty work it was designed for. The point was it was raw and basic. I just can't see most people doing that with a car that would cost them over £60k, when they can get an equally capable pickup truck for half or less of that. So it's competing in the same market as other SUVs that also rarely go off road, but are better equipped and many are cheaper, and as Tony said the new Defender isn't far off and is much better at everything.
You are not 100% wrong about New Defender vs Grenadier, but Grenadier will last a decade or more longer than a New Defender if used regularly off-road. They are only planning to sell 25-30,000 per year. For me both were real possibilities but I chose Grenadier. You talk cost but if you add a few options and off-road towing packs etc the New Defender very rapidly gets hugely more expensive than a Grenadier by tens of thousands.
Just you and Tony, normality resumes!
I’m waiting for my new car in 2023, GT3RS!!
Lamborghini should call that car the Sinatra. (So many last performances)
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale turned out to be a $1.6 million dollar car, and I'm looking forward to the 2025 Ford Mustang GT, which will be a $300,000 car. Both cars are Gorgeous, unfortunately the 33 Stradale are all sold, but I hope to get a Mustang GT next year!
Interesting that the grenadier is sold out for 2 years and early cars are selling pre delivery for 20pct over…
Old Ferraris and new Porsches.
🤣 Who'd have guessed?!
Agree with Tony the new defender base is just better 👌 I wouldn't want to have a crash in a grenadier with a ladder chassis. Or old defender. Just no.
Is Tony into any type of off roading?
Been waiting on this all day 👍
Interesting you chaps didn't take the opportunity to savage the new BMW M3 CS 🙂
i dont know wether you know or will even read this. but the mc20 was actually an alfa product already. Alfa already started the development of that car as the new 6c. But then all kinds of stuff happened internal at fca and all the new sport car products were canceled on the alfa side and the 6c was given to Maserati. hence why they could develop as supercar in such a short period of time. 2 years for the whole car and 6 months for the engine alone, which is insane. Specially for a small automaker who has not made its own engines in decades. Because alfa had already done most of the ground work. So this 6c is just the homecoming of their original product in all fairness.
Don’t kid yourself Sam ! I reckon IF you spent 200 grand of your own cash on the Dakar I doubt you’d take it anywhere off road ;)
Tony loves a 4 pot lmao
Emira AMG was defo cheaper. Not much. More like a new Esprit 4 cylinder turbo with double clutch. Power was down from the A45s output.
Do not think C63 will sell due to the M3 having a bigger engine. plus plus m3 doesn't have a soft limiter. plus m3 interior is much better looking. That said I am a merc fan boy so I will probably be smitten by it when I finally see one up close. Ref M3 looks needs the right colour and it needs a 20 inch front wheel to look right.
Ineos Grenadier and Toyota Land cruiser is the best comparison
I'd be really really disappointed if Lotus price it more than the V6. It was going to be my first sports car.
I would drive the Dakar, got the go ahead from the wife, and called the dealer. One said it will be a bidding process, and one said that the locals were lined up and he'd put me on a list. In other words, I can't buy one until it hits the second hand market.
I don't usually agree with Tony as a rule but he is 100% right about the Grenadier. Absolute pile of horse odure overpriced, outdated and another failed vanity project in a short time in the future.
Love the podcasts keep up the good work.
Dont think the Defender would be a better car, as some CZcamsrs have owned them and say they are rubbish and I owned a Land rover product and think that the Grenadier will actually be better built and hence a better car
I disagree with Tony about the Grenadier, I think outside the UK will be successful.
I think it will do well in the UK too especially if the 90 version comes out.
You are always dissing Alfa for old interior. I know what you mean by it being old but personally usability is more than looks and Alfa has quite good usability compared to other new cars.
Yes I would like to see a facelift applied to the cars but still love the integrated small screen, physical buttons, dials etc. To me the biggest problem of Alfa seems the material usage - black leather and alcantara makes it look cramped. Cheap plastics do not help.
Alfa is going to/ with audi in F1. Porsche seems to be looking at Williams following unsuccessful talks with Red Bull.
And again 🎉
The LaFerrari replament is for the end of the year the 812 is for the next few months!
The biggest issue to me with the M3 Touring, other than it not being sold in my country, is that they only offer it in AWD with the automatic gearbox. I mean, call me crazy, but I think people wanted an M3 Touring for so long because they wanted a sports car estate. If they would have offered it in RWD with a manual, as an option, I think that would have been the enthusiast choice, even if buyers ended up going AWD/Auto anyway.
I don’t think the AWD is the problem since you can drive it in RWD mode anyway.
why all the M3T hype??? no one wants big heavy automatic 4wheel driven fast cars, but with that boot and practicality, it becomes perfectection.
Funny they talked about all Ferrari cars except the Purosangue
Lambo is way way cooler than the porsche
How come this isn’t on Spotify?
It is
I love hipocrisy abou car brands reliability!
Tony: why would anyone buy any other SUV next to Range Rover?!!?
Sam:Does new Range Rovers still brakes?
Tony: Yes they do, electronical problems
Sam: New Alfa Romeo
Tony: shit, will it work, crap.......
Beautiful, just beautiful, exactly the whole car world is like this.
Tony how is Giulia QV for drive, perfect, even better then M cars, but Multimedia is crap 🤣🤣😁🤣
Tony: yeah that generation of 911's have alots of problems...
Sam: New Porsche....
Tony: that would be great car, bulletproof...
