The color Sam chose is great. It looks almost like Chromaflair. There are yellowish highlights in the sunlight, and it goes slightly blue-ish/teal in the dark. I absolutely love it. Well done Sam 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Congrats on the colour choice 👏🏻. Suspect it’s the yellow calipers that Sam wants to change, but having seen a GT3 in RGM with yellow calipers, they look fine. Sam mentions less choice on the GT3 cars - that’s actually only on the winged cars, where you can only get a black interior. On U.K. GT3 Touring cars, you can still get a full Exclusive Manufaktur leather interior, from a list of 15 leather colours including Cohiba, Cognac, Guards, Riviera etc. Note this isn’t full ‘leather to sample’.
But if you can't get a touring at all, that leaves little choice eh?

When I was a child my dad had an Aston DB9 and he later got a Vanquish too. The rear seats are perfect for children up to 12 years old. The DB11 has more room and at 16 I was still comfortable in the back of it. Also, Vanquish and DB11 have isofix

47:17 To answer your production question: Often they will be taken off the line until the paint is ready then reintroduced to the line. Highly unlikely they have a person paint the car. The robots are much more efficient and fundamentally better at painting. Automation knows which cars need which paint and cars are regularly pulled and rearranged based on paint color and number of layers. (Multi layer paint jobs take longer in the booth and longer to cure) Congrats on the color Sam!!
I do love most of the content you produce Sam, and all you folks work very hard to deliver us great content, thank you. I have to say though, I can’t for the life of me work out why auto YTubers think the ‘reveal’ of your colour choice is a thumb mail…..of that anyone gives that much of a toss. However, you know your algorithms, I don’t, so I guess you choose that because it drives views. So good on you. I. Delighted for you whatever colour you choose.
Love the naivety of a new dad, thinking he can drive the family down to France in a Bentley Conti or a 4 seat sports car. Lol :D Realistically you'd start looking at some (fast) wagons or SUVs to haul all the toys, the pram, diapers, blankets, clothing, bottles, andsoforth. Especially the first few years we were hauling so much stuff, even on short trips (long weekends etc).

Ice green is another personal favorite so I’m thrilled you could do something similar. Stoked for you and huge congrats, hope you get tons of fun-filled miles out of it!
Four seat sportscars - when I was in your position Sam 18 years ago (I'm one of your older followers it appears, 59!!) I had an E46 M3 - 100,000 miles 9 years fantastic and kids grew to love it!! Just bought a GT4 same as Tony had for sale but a manual and ordered a M240i all based on Tony's advice! 😆 Love the pod casts and the way you bounce off each other keep up the good work and videos in between the nappy changing - no video required!!

I don't work at Porsche but I saw a documentary here on youtube about the making of the 992 911s explaining every part of the whole factory process. Usually (this is what the cars did in the documentary) the car frames get put on a swing that can swing 360 degrees which takes the frames through a pool of color, this is how they are painted, the external parts like trunk, doors etc. Are also lowered into pools of color for their base coats and then to later get their different finishes put on by a robot (the frames only need base coat). My guess is that the PTS cars completely skip the pool part and go straight to specialised robots that are setup individually for each PTS car which takes time. With the normal colors they can just make a batch of yellow cars and then afterwards a batch of black ones. This is just my guess so please correct me if I happen to be wrong.

When I was a kid in the mid 70s, I had a (1/24 scale?) Porsche 911 turbo toy. Ice Green Metallic metal body with opening doors, trunk and engine cover, Fuchs wheels. I didn't know Porsche from Peugeot at the time, but I LOVED that car. To this day, THAT's my dream Porsche to own, and how I'd spec a current 911. Well done sir.

Good colour choice, I’d have gone Oslo blue with tan interior.
Winged GT3 cars are black interior only. Cohiba/cognac etc interior is only for Touring cars.

I bought a Ferrari FF in August last year. It is the best car I've ever owned and I run it as a daily. Other than a Lusso, which I don't prefer over the FF visually. There is nothing I can think of that I'd seriously consider as a replacement. The dog goes in the back, my bike fits in the back, it got me home in blizzard in mid December on the wrong tyres. It's simply awesome. There's a reason so few are for sale, anyone that owns one just doesn't want to sell it!
Love the color choice. Sunday is my birthday and no better present that the GT3 reveal video dropping!!

Tony’s laugh is worth the listen alone, honestly Tony has relaxed into doing these podcasts so well. I liked the look of the Roma the Silver 911 also in stock is a nice bit of kit as well. What Ferrari is best for a baby seat, or the Bentley GT - first world problems like 😂
In saying that when I dream of supercars and look at the various places online I do think would a family member be able to get in and sit in it. It’s reassuring say that Classic Ferrari 250 GT priced at £1.6 million for sale can take my family member or that 911 with normal seats. 😂

In the US PTS cars (used) do fetch a premium roughly equal to the cost of the paint from factory. $10k+ over a standard color car. White, black and silver are also usually valued about $3-5k less than a colorful factory option (thinking about 991 and newer GT3s)
12C is looking like a massive bargain now, classic looks and with people like V engineering popping up, they’re not ruinous to run anymore.
12c has performance of 488 NOT 430. 1390 kg 613 bhp 0-60 3.1 seconds

PTS does, as far as I know, delay the car production, since many parts do get painted at the suppliers. Meaning they have to send your selected colour to each suplier who then sprays them at their place. You can imagine the logistics involved, keeping in mind OEMs work with JIT-Production (Just-In-Time).

Listening to Sam choose GT3 colour is fundamentally like listening to someone explain their entrée choice at dinner yet im enthralled.
Work at a Porsche Dealer. Its awesome to see Sam go full in on the spec. Most customers stick to black or white. I am assuming his complaints about the spec have to do with not being able to get carbon ceramics from the factory. We have a GT4 RS that has been waiting for carbon ceramics for months. I also assume he was not allowed to get the Bose sound system as they are being removed from most of our models because a lack of amplifiers for the system. Very much looking forward to the video on sunday!

I’ve been a dad for a couple of years so have already been on this “what car” journey. The closest thing I found to a “family sports car” was a second gen Panamera Turbo. Anything else will be too impractical or not feel special.

Yes the PTS cars are pulled from the line to get their paint job done. Don’t remember from the top of my head if they pull it out after spraying it white or if the white is some sort of primer.

Little comment on the new-dad life. My wife and I just had a baby boy in December. I bought a .2 GT3 last year, but with the baby coming I got rid of it for a '14 FF. That goes along with your topic of sports cars with four seats. Food for thought for family car life.

Can´t believe you finally went for Racing Green Metallic... It is exactly the spec I downloaded from the Porsche website to my smartphone just to save the photos (that was 25th of june). I "went" for cream interior a no-bucket seats, cream interior with normal silver wheels and Touring specification.

You guys could do an amazing episode with someone who has an extensive automotive manufacturing background. There have been tons of little things over the years that you've brought up (PTS cost to Porsche in this episode) that are really far off the mark on details, but the details are something you'd never be aware of if you haven't worked in industry!
Generally speaking, the reason a PTS car will cost more and take more time is because the paint booth can only have a certain number of colors loaded up at any given time. To do a PTS car, they would need to clean out all the nozzles and hoses and switch out the paint being fed into that machine just to paint a handful of cars. Because of this, manufacturers try to "batch build" all the special cars right in a row to keep the process as efficient as possible.

I saw a McLaren 12C at the last car show I went to. It was going on a rally that started at the show. I made the comment along the lines of "Oh I wonder how far that'll make into the drive". 2 or so hours later a flatbed rocked up and towed the McLaren out before the rally started
If it's the green that is on 2VEV, then I'm all for it. Having seen that Aston racing, it is a beauty.
Tony is talking out of his hole about rear seats in a GT3. The OEM seats are velcroed in… as someone who has done a bunch of road trips in a 911 with kids it’s the perfect solution. As long as there is a belt and the OEM porsche car seats (no good until junior can do front facing) then it’s ideal, especially as you can fit the car seats without the cushion or backrest to give them more space. Then when they hit 1m35 they have a comfortable rear seat way better suited to kids than a regular car seat is.

TVR has gone up in value. A sagaris when new was circa 50k. Remember seeing an Adam Ivell video three or so years ago where the car was then worth about 90k. Congrats on the GT3 🔥

Regarding why the PTS costs more: Those colours have to be applied manually rather than on their usual rotisserie-style robotic bath. Haven't you ever watched on of those factory documentaries on Porsche?
I had a Gentian blue vehicle once. It was a Ford Transit reg no A207YTN, it was almost new. It was flood damaged when i bought it. Fixed it up & sold it for twice what i paid for it. Those were the days......

For Porsche Turbo, i like Malachite Green metallic with red top. Also like Ocean blue, same issue olivine green and gentian blue much cheaper and free (Australia)
