      @@anthonyjarvis9472 It would definitely help if there just a few main platforms that creators stuck to but we're in a sort of inbetween moment at this point. The major tech companies have morphed into something different to how they started and many people are looking for alternatives. It's the same thing with political commentary which is being shunned off the big platforms, they're all searching for a good alternative and the result has been everyone being spread thin. Sam, I don't think I have ever commented on one of your videos before but i've been watching the main channel since your TT-S POV days and behind the glass since day 1. I have to say, after having used 100 credits to watch the F1 season review on recast, I absolutely hate the recast platform. It was a chore to register (wouldn't send me verification codes), earning 4 credits for watching an ad is a joke, and sharing the content with people is a challenge when none of my friends are into the automotive world or F1, not to mention the horrible video quality that it keeps alternating between for me. I don't think you should be making free content but I am not so sure recast is the right way of going about it. I personally would happily sit through more ads on youtube, listen to more ads while podcasting the show (i alternate between the two), or listen to sponsored ads presented by you before, during or after the episodes (Matt Farah does 10 minutes of the stuff before his show (a bit much but he has to get paid)). While recast deserves kudos for giving multiple ways of accumulating credits it is definitely pushing people to pay cash for it given how it compensates for the alternative ways. It is also incredibly disappointing that after the chequered flag is exclusive to recast and not even offered on youtube on a delay. This is largely because, while I liked the show with Tony and still listen every week, it has become pretty annoying listening to Tony rattle off the same stuff week after week and I personally much prefer listening to you and Paul discuss F1, of which I am a huge ferrari fan too! Anyway that is just my two cents. Not sure I am willing to sit through 25 ads on recast to accumulate the 100 credits needed to watch you and Paul.

    Don't understand the move to Recast. So patreon is no longer a thing or they need to pay twice? The credits idea sounds silly and a way to overcharge people when they have to top up in increments that don't match the cost of the episodes. Company probably won't even be around for long

    • @BehindTheGlass
      @BehindTheGlass  Pƙed rokem +49

      Patreon is sadly closing, so no, they won’t pay twice. Patrons have known about all this for a few weeks.
      On recast you literally pay for what you want to watch. No overcharging. Our episodes will mostly be £1 each
 you can literally just pay each time you log on, or if you think you’ll watch everything, it might be easier to top up your credits each month so you don’t have to do it every time. The credits are yours and are only used when you watch something.
      They use credit so there is the opportunity to earn them, not just buy them. (Buy watching ads/sharing content etc)
      For us, recast makes things more flexible, affordable and fairer than Patreon but as we said, if not of interest, nothing changes for you. You still can enjoy episodes for free on here and podcast players. We appreciate the support either way!

    The problem is not with just you charging for content Sam. It is that many creators are beginning to charge as well. CZcams is quickly turning into an expensive platform. My favorite 10 chanel's would cost close to $60 per month for the exclusive content. That's more than I pay for Netflix, Hulu and Amazon combined. It seems like a content embargo for a few months would have put an end to the "algorithm" change imposed by Google. That seems to be what led creators to shift to first Patreon and now fake raffles and give aways to earn income. Well, that is the reason everyone seems to give. It's sad that the community can't earn a living when Google earns many billions from ads supported by your content. I wish you the best of luck on the new platform. Im with Tony on the Abarth discussion. The Fiat 500 E looks fantastic and makes total sense as a city car from A-B. A lot of them are driving around here in Stuttgart. I dont think these ppl are car ppl tho. I drive my 595 Comp as a daily, mainly in and around the city and an E Abarth wonÂŽt satisfy my need for emotion, rawness and sound. An enthusiast car just doesnt make sense as an EV with the current state of EVs. Hyundai is introducing "fake" gearshifts in the next EVs which probably add in the emotion department. Just take the loss Sam :)

    I’ve just sold my Macan GTS and now in Model Y Performance it was over £120 per tank for the Macan with real world miles 250 I’m getting same from Tesla for around £12 ‘ home charging ‘ it’s much faster than the Macan. But let’s make no mistake it’s not a patch on Porsche. I miss the emotion side of things and ownership experience.

      Exactly, as usual Tony is clueless, doesn’t understand amortisation of costs. Yes on a car forecast to sell 10000 units a body kit might only cost a manufacturer a few hundred pound per car. A bespoke carbon body over only 50 units?, probably £100k+ per car to amortise design and engineering.

    Abarth are the same as AMG
 take a car and trim it out, then put a better heart in it
 if the heart is just allowing more energy from the batteries to be available compared to the base 500 then that’s just like having an IPhone with a brighter screen. I thing they should have gone hybrid

    honestly the recast website is horrible from a ux perspective, personally I would rather pay montly for patreon (even if it became more expensive to cover the costs for more content) than having to deal with recast and their terrible top-up and ppw system. Also sad to see the F1 show being tucked away there aswell. Obviously will continue to watch on youtube as this has been my favourite podcast for a long time now and hope you take this criticism which seems to be echoed in the comments into consideration.

    The homages will keep going until they flop - and I think that'll be next year as rate rises start to bite. Yes manufacturers latching on to a niche while the market still there. That BMW is crazy. They're carbon panels as they're stuck on to an M4!
