For Saruman, I would personally go Charles Dance. The guy has such an authority about him and I feel he could really play on the whole "Saruman's power is in his voice" vibe
I agree. He's the only actor I know of that I can imagine being able to follow Christopher Lee in that role and do it justice.
For the same reason, I think Simon Callow or Brian Cox.
Absolutely
"Impunity" Emperor Emphyr.
@@thecompanion9657 I had no idea who any of these three people were (Brian Cox sounded familiar, but I was thinking of the scientist, not the actor) and I had to google them and watch a short clip from a video on CZcams in which they speak in order to even form an opinion. I agree with two of the three. I don't think Brian Cox would fit Saruman. If he were to be cast I think he'd be better as either Theoden or Wormtongue. Of the three Charles Dance looks the best for the part, but Simon Callow sounds the best for the part (in my opinion).
EDIT: Closing paren...
The fact that I winced while imagining these actors in those roles just goes to show how phenomenal the original cast was.
So, what's the real story?
Okay, here me out - David Tennant as Wormtongue.
Oooh. Yeah, I'm onboard.
Hell yeah!!!!!
@Dragon50275 Oh I love your idea! Honestly, Joaquin Phoenix is such a versatile actor, so I can imagine him as a villain and hero. I'd love to see his take on Wormtongue, too.
That casting would be incredible!
Tom Hiddleston
Jeff Goldblum as Tom Bombadil.
This WORKS!
Fucking perfect! And all of Tom's songs will be weird jazz tunes
Love it 😂
This casting choice needs more love
Nicolas Cage if anyone.
Hugh Jackman as Theoden is a god-teir pick
Please do but give him more screen time
But does he keep the Aussie accent?
Think Adam Sandler is the better choice here
@@noahchase7854 He's more of a Gandalf for me
Nathan Green tier, bub.
Other people: Acting.
Daniel: The speaking of those lines that Tolkien wrote.
Lol that got me. But there is a weight to the understanding Ian had that I think goes above and beyond if that makes sense. His classical training was a huge part of it. (EDIT)
I don’t care what anyone says, not just any actor can pull off lines like:
“You cannot pass! I am a servant of the Sacred Fire, wielder of the Flame of Anor. The Dark Flame will not avail you, Flame of Udun. Go back to the shadow. You shall not pass!”
That’s not just ‘acting’.
@@DanielGreeneReviews I always thought his background in Shakespearean theatre helped immensely and what made him pull off Gandalf with extra weight & ‘Tolkien-ness’.
Timothee Chalamet would actually make a great Legolas - if we're going by Orlando Bloom standards. He's got similar angular elvish features. Plus, every teen is obsessed with him. An *essential* requirement for casting Legolas. Teenage me was obsessed with Bloom the same way teenagers today are obsessed with Chalamet.
I didnt know this was a thing until recently. Happy to learn Legolas was a nerdy teenage heart throb! Haha
@@DanielGreeneReviews and in pirates of the Caribbean 😂😅🥰🤦♀️
i feel like he could bring a more youthful legolas? he's always come across as a tiny bit immature in the books and i think chalamet could actually do that
@@DanielGreeneReviews Absolutely: one of my friends in high school had a freestanding cardboard cutout she'd stolen from a local theater of Legolas. The obsession was real. I was more like my Mom: an Aragorn girl.
@@MagicalMedic I had a life size Legolas poster as a teen. Part of my transition into adulthood was realising Aragorn is the far superior heartthrob
Sean Astin did such a good job as Samwise, that now when I reread lord of the rings, I picture sean as sam, because he was THAT good.
I do that along with Ian, Andy and Christopher
David Harbor would have been my choice for Gimli.
Ooooh I love that one! Great job.
Man, that's perfect casting!
it just makes sense. i really think he would "kill" that role in a good way
Nah Adam Sandler
@@noahchase7854 Adam would work very well for one of the other Dwarfs from The Hobbit, but David Harbor would be a better Gimli, I think.
Woah, James McAvoy as Aragorn... Now I can't get it out of my head
Same!
And please let him keep the Scottish accent
Adam Sandler for Aragorn. You're welcome.
He did a great Leto II. in the Dune mini-series in an early-ish role. I can definitely see him pull this off.
I kinda can't get Boseman out of my head, honestly.
Denethor eating the tomato has haunted my dreams for years, thanks for bringing it back up
Dylan O'Brien is an amazing actor, he is the definition of "waiting for a big role that lets him shine" For what I've seen of him I can really imagine him as one of the hobbits, even as Sam (even if he nails funny rols so Merry and Pippin would be perfect)
A Wormtongue actor that makes you understand how he could get so close to the king while still seeming evil.
Tom Hiddleston EASILY came to mind.
I can definitely picture Tom Holland as a hobbit, although my first thought was that he'd do a good job as Pippin!
The first person that sprung to mind for Frodo was the British actor Asa Butterfield. He might be slightly too young but I think he has the right vibe. Or maybe I'm just thinking that because he looks a little similar to Elijah Wood 😅
Lol, definitely seems a bit young for playing a guy in his fifties (okay, hobbits age more slowly, but it should still be someone in their thirties if we want to recreate the book instead of the movie).
@@Maren617 It's a difficult one because the books span a longer period of time compared to the films. I'm re-reading The Fellowship of the Ring at the moment, and at the start of the book Frodo is 33 (which i believe is around 18 in "human" years?) But then he's 50 by the time he actually sets off with the Ring. I'm assuming that's why they cast him younger in the original films, because they had to speed up the timeline and find a middle-ground?
Lol, same.
Adam Sandler
@@GriffReads he kinda stopped aging at 33 though since he had the ring. Someone who looks early 20s could pull it off if they can portray the emotional maturity, Elijah wood was like 18 or 19 in the originals.
My choice for Bilbo would be Christoph Waltz. Charming and mischievous in just the right way,
Also: I think I would prefer Eddie Redmayne for Sam. He has this shy strength in a lot of his performances (Marius in LesMis and Newt Scamander) that just fit.
Christoph Waltz as Bilbo would be great. The age also fits perfectly
Every time i watched Bilbo talk to gandalf or Frodo, I’d immediately imagine that he’s looking for jews in Hobbiton
Edit: perhaps waltz should be gollum looking for the ring
I love the casting of Gary Oldman.
I have a deep love of his performances. The reason for this is that in each case I only see the character. I quickly forget the Oldman is acting and he simply IS that character. He would also make an excellent Witch King.
Jeremy Irons as Sauroman. He's voice is amazing, he did the voice for Scar in the lion king for example.
Elias Be Prepaaaaared....for Waaar!!
YESSSS
True
Yes, way way better choice. He seems the kind of villain who is also royal and noble as Saruman is, as the head of the White Council
He'd make a great Denethor imo
Here is how Amazon should recast LOTR
Don't
The right answer
haha indeed
Be glad they will not, as their show will not be about the LOTR itself.
I agree dont recast or even think about it........
If it's not broken don't fix it.
2:00 Honestly, Rory McCann, just based off of his portrayal of the Hound might be a good pick for Gimley. He's a 6'6" beast with the perfect face for a gruff dwarf.
Daniel, you could totally play one of the hobbits yourself - Merry or Pipin
idk his voice is kind of... it's not super deep but it's... kind of deeper and louder than I'd expect coming from a hobbit?
*and lol
Those parts have been taken by Adam Sandler
Nah, he needs to play a disheveled goblin... or a disheveled orc. 😁
Gollum should be Liam O'Brian. He's done him multiple times in video games with both mo-cap and audio.
Omg yess, he’d be superb
But he’s doing Serkis’ Gollum
@@bigbundle3223 Oh yeah good point. I guess it’s not his own interpretation.
@@bigbundle3223 If you see him in some of the games he has DM'd on the CR channel he definitely has plenty to bring to the table in his own version of Gollum.
I was just about to comment this myself. My only qualms with such a decision is your pretty much getting a near carbon copy of Andy Serkis’ vocal performance without much of a new take(Excluding movement).
Okay still watching the video but Dylan O’Brien in the thumbnail would make a great Frodo. I feel like he could do happy Frodo easily, his comedic timing is great, and at the same time he could go a darker more corrupted route as the story progresses which I would love.
Who is Simon Pegg gonna be???
Edit: oh Timothy chalamet interesting. Dylan O’Brien for Pippin is also a good choice for his comedic chops. Pegg for Bilbo?! Hell yes
Glad to see Pattinson get some love. Almost everyone I know automatically dismisses him from everything, because of Twilight. Even though it wasn't even his fault the movies were bad.
Though personally, I don’t think he has the veteran soldier look that would be needed. He’s leaning a bit on the pretty boy side. His performance in the Batman movies may change my mind, but for now I disagree
From what I understand, Pattinson has been a nightmare for the Batman film. He was given like 3 months to get in shape to fill out his suit but did nothing. He showed up to filming looking like a skeleton.
@@halion4487 Yeah, I agree that he doesn't have the look for the role mentioned, but my comment was more about him generally getting ignored/disregarded by many people due to Twilight.
@@naamari yeah, he does get a lot of unwarranted flack. Though I haven’t seen it personally, his performance in Tenet was apparently somewhat redeeming of the lackluster plot, and of course the Lighthouse has two incredible performances, but the general weirdness of the film means it’s unjustly dismissed a lot
He looks good in The Batman trailer.
Oscar Isaac for Aragorn would be perfect I think. I just don't think James McAvoy would fit quite right.
I would love to see a him cast a theoretical movie of a book or series that’s currently not a movie or series (i.e First Law, Stormlight, Mistborn etc)
I would kill for a Mistborn video! Since GoT, I’ve been stuck on the idea of Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau as Kelsier... And it’s hard to see anyone but Dafne Keen as Vin.
he's really engaging when he does that kind of deep reflection/dream construction stuff... so yeah, that would be GREAT haha
@@terragrahamthefirst I actually like both of those fan castings a lot though Nikolaj has kinda missed the age frame by a decade or more
@@alexjones2004 True. Michael Fassbender and Simon Baker are also a decade late. Who does that leave us with? Marvel’s Chrises?
Lord of the rings has no recast. Lord of the rings needs no recast.
Shouldn't Frodo be a bit older? He is 50 something in the books iirc, and he's one of the wisest characters in the fellowship. I think this also applies for the rest of the hobbits except pippin.
Frodo was 50 when the fellowship started. Sam was 38, Merry was 36 and Pippin was 28. Hobbits come of age at 33. The voting age in the uk back then was 21 I think, so (asuming a linear correlation) a 50 y/o hobbit would be as mature as a 32 y/o human. (38=24 ; 36=23 ; 28=18)
this was a very long-winded way of saying yes you are correct 😂
did I make a spread sheet for this? Maybe. Do I have other, more important things to do? Definitely
@@MsBlulucky God I love nerds
This was my same question! Like if we're trying to make things book accurate... Most of these actors are too young. Unless there's something in canon that says they look a lot younger than humans on our Earth? I know many live longer but what about appearance specifically?
Frodo had the ring for 19 years before he left the shire so he didn't age at all during that time right?
I would actually cast Fassbender as Aragorn, and McAvoy as Legolas.
He was Macbeth. I would love to see him as Aragon.
I would also cast Fassbender as Aragorn tbh my second pic would be Oscar Isaac. For Gimli I would Brendan Gleeson
Same!!!!
I would go as far as to cast McAvoy as Frodo, since Frodo in the books (although has not aged too much because of the ring) is a lot older than the rest of the hobbits.
Couldn't agree more about Robert Pattinson. He's still living with the "oh the twilight guy" but man does he have the chops
Better late than never.
My casting:
Gimli: Tom Hardy
Legolas: Sebastian Stan
Aragorn: Charlie Cox
Boromir: Jon Bernthal
Merry: Corey Cott
Pippin: Tom Holland
Frodo: Timothee Chalamet
Samwise: Connor Jessup
Gandalf: Stephen Fry
Saruman: Anthony Hopkins
Arwen: Samara Weaving
Galadriel: Scarlett Johansson
Grima Wormtounge: Matthew Lillard
Elrond: Micheal Fassbender
Faromir: Adam Driver
Theoden: Jack Nicholson
Gollum: Bill Skarsgård
I like a lot of these way more than Daniel’s
Rosamund Pike as Galadriel imo
Omg Charlie Cox would be an amazing Aragorn
My pick for Gollum is Tommy Wiseau playing himself: "OH HAI, PRECIOUS!"
OMG that might actually work!
Man, Chadwick Boseman would have been an incredible Aragorn! I’m gonna put this out there and say Nathalie Emmanuel or Kiki Layne as Eowyn.
The way I thought this was Prime news 🙃
"James McAvoy has played roles where he's a mentor" *imediately shows shots from His Dark Materials*
Yeah! Good example! The one where he [spoilers]..... murders his daughters best friend..... a child....
Lol
It doesn't really help to write spoilers if you don't seperate the text more coz eyes still automatically jump to the next line, just fyi
I just watched “The King” on Netflix, and Joel Edgerton, who plays John Fallstaff, is an incredible actor. I think he’d make a great Gimli.
If Samuel L Jackson isn't Sam, we riot.
Agree
Agreed
"I Can't Carry It For You... But I Can Carry You, Motherfucker."
- Samwise L. Jackson
I am tired of these motherf*cking trolls in these motherf*cking mines!
Po-Muddaf****ng-Tatoes
I don't know the actor you picked for Arwen but I really object to the "could kick my ass part" because Arwen is NOT a warrior. She is strong but doesn't need a sword to embody that. Making Arwen's strenght in the films revolve around the "warrior princess" wibe is something I strongly object to this day.
On the other hand, she sounds like a perfect Eowyn.
At least they cut Arwen out of Helm's Deep (and there were photos of her on set with sword in hand).
@@Jeneric81 Yep, that would have been worse than her just taking over Glorfindel's part
I'm in a public space with no headphones, so the volume is off, but gotta give this man the views and upvotes
Turn the volume on king
Adam Sandler should be this man
Chadwick Boseman as Aragorn would have made my life
My exact train of thought when you were talking about who should play Boromir was
"What about the guy who played Ned Stark........wait"
LOL!!!
I think Tom Holland is a great choice for Sam.
Then you went and brought in petite Hughie. ...ok him too.
THE BOYS really made me think he has the innocence vibe.
Seth Keown all I can hear: ok, ok Frodo, Frodo, I'll carry it for you c'mon buddy!! (Spidey voice)
I feel Holland’s work with Tony’s death in Far From Home is what cinches him as Sam for me. That scene on the plane? My heart still hasn’t healed.
Based on his voice work on Star Trek Lower Decks, Quaid would make a great Pippin too🤷🏼♂️
Hm, I think Benedict Cumberbatch could be a great choice for Gollum, he’s an great actor and his performance as Smaug was just 👌
I was just thinkin id like Benedict to play Legolas
Me near the end of the video: He totally forgot to recast the female chars, didn't he? 😅
_Editing Daniel seemingly agrees with me_
And on that note, who would you cast as Galadriel?
Tilda Swinton...oh wait...sigh.
Well honestly Blanchet hasn't really age so she could play her again, but if you want a real answer I'll say that Elizabeth Debicki has the appearance for it
Elizabeth Debicki without a doubt
@Zenith Quasar What? Im out of the loop, so I'm very curious why you said "wait...sigh"
The only confusing part for me is that you said you wanted to cast them in the spirit of the book, but Shouldnt the hobbits be a lot older in that case? Frodo left the shire just after he turned 50 (so more like a 40 year old human I suppose)
And all the other hobbits should have brown skin (Frodo is said to be fair-skinned due to his mother being from a different clan.) We should be looking at brown-skinned actors in their 20s-40s, I think.
@@Maren617
Erm.... that doesn't mean the others are brown skinned... like at all.
@@Kill0rbAg Hobbit skin colors range from nut-brown to white, with only the rarer Fallowhides being white (Pippin is mostly pure-blooded Fallowhide, Frodo is partially Fallowhide, and the rest of the Hobbits in the Shire (descended mostly from Harrfoots, but a mixture of different Hobbit races) should all be various shades of browner skin.
@@Maren617
I meant the sentence "Frodo is said to be fair-skinned due to his mother being from a different clan" as an argument doesn't conclude that everyone else is brown, not that the claim they are isn't true.
If there is actually a remake of LotR happening, I would sincerely hope that they pick relatively unkown artists, as PJ did back in the days.
PS: what about Tom Hardy as a dwarf?
Isn't is a story set around the same time but not actually _the_ story?
Tom Hardy as Gimli is honestly perfect
Christopher Lee, Ian McKellan, John Rhys-Davies, Elijah Wood, Sean Bean, Sean Astin are all names that I would not consider relatively unknown.
dylan o'brien is an AMAAAAZING actor. glad he's in here
Agreed I hope he gets some big roles soon
His part actually was scooped up by Adam Sandler
Idk if it was my tweet but I suggested him on Twitter, he's got awesome talent and his ability to be a goofball is top tier.
I felt like I read your mind on the Gandalf casting For Grey Oldman
Marsida Bushi Fly, everrry WAN! (The Professional)
Adam Sandler deserves the blue hat
Just thought of Gary.
Oh damn...Chadwick Boseman would have been a hella good and unique pick for Aragorn. And now I'm sad again.
Charles dance would make a perfect saurman
Okay, but hear me out: Timothee Chalamet as Legolas.
Seeing this a few times. I actually like it a lot!
And that easily you'd have a ton of younger girls fawning over Legolas again
Mh. Interesting pick, but I think he lacks the physicality in my opinion. But acting wise I have no doubts about him
@@lv834 just girls, of course
@@nachoijp you are right. Sorry, I didn't mean to be casually homophobic. There will be tons of people madly in love with a Legolas once again.
In the video, Daniel said he wouldn't have made Wormtongue look so evil, because no one would have let him become one of the Theodin's advisors. However, I believe when Wormtongue first became Theodin's advisor, he looked relatively normal, but as the evil spell grabbed onto the king more and more tightly, Wormtongue looked worse and worse, until we're left with a king who can't speak for himself and the creepiest, allegedly-normal person I've ever seen.
Idris Elba as Aragorn. In the books I always imagined him a little older, and i think Elba just fits it perfectly.
When you mentioned Donald Sutherland I instantly thought of Saruman and the more I think about it, he may be just as good as Sir Christopher Lee for the role.
King of Kings simply 🍊 orange...
finally, thank you youtube for getting me here early this time!
Daniel literally just proved he could play Gollum with that impression
Bill Skarsgard might be a good pick for Gollum… he’s someone who can really embody a character and do movement work that can be downright unsettling if need be.
I've seen a lot of Dylan O'brien's work and he is amazing. He can be funny and charismatic. I think he would make a great Sam actually. Also yes Gary Oldman would be a great Gandalf because he's such a good actor!
I know when he was talking about who was going to play sam I remembered the thumbnail and was just waiting for him to say Dylan name.
I actually really love Dylan O'Brien as Pippin, he's a great comedic actor and he's proven that he can do the sincere stuff as well, and I think for Pippin, you gotta have that level of charm and mischief. I'll say though, I feel like I'd love to see someone slightly older take on the role of Frodo, since he's supposed to be older in the book. Elijah Wood's fresh-faced protagonist Frodo was excellent, but I would be interested to see more of a middle-aged academic Frodo, if that makes sense??
Also, if you're going to put Sebastian Stan up for Faramir, you gotta at least CONSIDER Mark Hamill as Denethor
And this video is a DOPE idea keep doing these man!
I love all these castings!! Nice job
I can really see John Malkovich as Wormtongue.
Awesome
He was really good in space force on Netflix
John Malkovich would be a fantastic Wormtongue
I would LOVE to see Galadriel played by Noomi Rapace. I also think Travis Fimmel would be a fantastic Eomer.
Actually rooney mara would be a better choice.
Gary Oldman as Gandalf makes my heart happy. That man is so insanely talented and needs so much more recognition!
Also, Giancarlo as Saruman is utter perfection and I NEED IT
Gary Oldham as Gandalf! That's some next level casting!!!
This was so much fun! More would be greatly appreciated.
May I suggest ALFIE ALLEN for the role of Sam? He might surprise us...
Mamoa as Duncan Idaho will be amazing!
I’m so glad your doing more LOTR content! Thanks!
Random question just because curiosity: Do you have second thoughts on what you should wear before each video or does your subconscious do the planning for you?
OH! We have the same Boromir. I was also considering him for Faramir? (the younger brother. sorry about spelling.) Asa butterfield as Frodo for me.
Okay, I love the idea of Asa as Frodo!
YES! Butterfield would make an excellent Frodo in my opinion.
Rofl, I have always thought of him as a younger Elijah Wood!! He's certainly got the acting talent to pull it off too.
Adam Sandler for both
The only thing I'd say, is that not enough of them i don't think would be able to do a good English/British accent,(yes i know viggo's wasn't the best either)
We associate a British accent with older periods of history and fantasy, but that's not a given. Look at films set in, say, Ancient Rome: those aren't Roman accents you're hearing. British actors are frequently cast to portray Romans in spite of Latin being more closely associated with Italian. Yes, the author of The Lord of the Rings was British. But suspension of disbelief goes a long way here, and the performance should be the important thing, not the accent.
@@MagicalMedic I agree. A British accent gets in the way of good fantasy as far as I am concerned. Worse is when I hear a Australian accent.
@@MagicalMedic i definately agree with you, and that we shouldn't prioritise accent over acting, but personally, howeverrrr, as Tolkien was the writer of the book, and did have an English accent, i think that the majority of the actors in a film about one of his works should have an English, or British accent, but that's not to say all of them! Accents vary over distances, and the world of Arda is very big.
@@MagicalMedic I agree, somewhat.. the one thing I can't stand in a fantasy movie or show though, is American accents. It really pulls me out of immersion. Even Geralt in the witcher 3 took me a while to get used to.
I'm not an expert in this topic but that seems to be mostly a matter of hiring a good dialect coach and giving the actors time to prepare
When you described your Boromir pick as "an actor with a recent indie resurgence", I was thinking "Nick Cage as Boromir? I guess that works..."
"And don't worry, I didn't forget about one more crucial hobbit here. We have Bilbo, right? Bilbo's a very important in the Lord of the Rings and one I'm not just gonna just let slip under the door."
Daniel, you don’t know how happy you made me by saying that. Bilbo’s my favorite character in Tolkien’s Middle Earth (along with Gandalf), and it’s kinda saddening when people often forget Bilbo (there are some who see/read LotR only and often sideline Bilbo as a side-character, which he admittedly is in LotR, but when you read the Hobbit, he’s just so much more).
I have to say (this will not sound credible at all) but when you were discussing the importance and heart of Sam and Frodo, I definitely think Dylan O’brien should be a pick for one of those roles. His acting is solid, he’s reached depths of vulnerability in his work on Teen Wolf and this is especially present when he’s playing off a great costar that he has chemistry with. I’d probably put him as Sam. But Jack Quaid is a shout.
SOmetimes I wish I had the super power to make my ideas/stories come real. I would make a LOTR frame by frame with this new cast...you might think that'd be a waste of using such a power...but im watching this video right now and that's what it is.
didnt know where to ask this at was just wondering have you or anyone else here in the comments read any of The Pantheon books from James Lovegrove am trying to find a new series to get into, amd currently 6 into Dresden and just needed a little break from it. I have read the majority of major fantasy series just looking for something really good and maybe a little more obscure
God damn you nailed this!! Great video!!
James Mcavoy is such a good pick that I didn't think of, him and michael fassbender made such a good performance in xmen in my opinion, and obviously there's also split and such which are phenomenal performances
...when you're more concerned with building your "brand", this is what you get.
Sorry I don't understand
Frodo is 50 when he leaves the Shire. Though since they have slower aging Frodo in human years would be around 35, and the others around 20 - 25.
Hobbits are considered adults at 33 years old.
Frodo = 50, Sam = 38, Merry = 36 and Pippin = 28
The recent sad news about Jeff Bridge's cancer diagnosis made me suddenly realise I'd love to see him as Gandalf. Not sure about the voice, but he has the look for sure
I don’t know if he has the range, but I feel like Charlie Cox has the potential to be an amazing Aragorn!
"i decided to feed my babies" 🥺🥺
Really fun and thought out picks Daniel.
Love these picks!!
I was actually thinking of Tom Holland when you brought up Sam. And I agree with whoever in the comments said Asa Butterfield for Frodo.
Dylan O’Brien is one of my favorite actors but it makes me chuckle to imagine him as a hobbit 😂 your picks were excellent, some of the choices were really hard to make but you can tell you put a lot of thought into it.
This video was a lot of fun! Thank you! Some of these picks on the spot were brilliant! I had a pick for Wormtongue...Littlefinger from GOT? Keep up the great work man, love your channel.
man this video was a ride. Absolute madlad.
For me
Wormtongue or the Mouth of Sauron: Tom Hiddleston
Theoden: Anthony Hopkins
Denethor: Jeremy Irons
Eomer: Michael Fassbender
Elrond: Eric Bana
Erkenbrand: Stellan Skarsgard
The Dale King that defends dale when the Easterlings attack: Stephen Dilane
The Dwarf king that defends Erebor when the Easterlings attack: Ray Winstone
Dev Patel would be my Boromir, for sure. He deserves another run at playing a tortured, conflicted prince character. Can't remember where he may have done it before. I must've repressed it.
For Samwise, I want George MacKay. Watch Captain Fantastic and Pride for a sense of what he can do. He's a pretty mercurial actor.
Thanks for all these LotR content, Daniel. I've finally enjoyed reading it after three failed attempts.
I love how much you thought through each pick.

This brightened my day. ♥️
Your bit about Jason Momoa not having had a LOTR level script with a balance of humour and insight that he could bring was so clearly pre-Dune
Danny Devito as Legolas or we riot
Frodo should be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Luke Newcomb Pippin by Momoa and Merry played by the guy who played the Mountain in GoT. And Sean Astin as Sam. There is only one Samwise Gamgee and he does not share flour.
Thank you for that wonderful clarification at the beginning lolol
