Another underrated thing is the suction cup mount: especially with these cars that have cameras near the rearview mirror you don't want to accidentally mount it in one of those camera's paths! Suction cup means its an easy fix.
I would forgo the Vantrue SD card and just get a Max Endurance card from Sandisk. If you look at the manufacturing process it's basically the best you can get (and the reason why it is quite a bit higher than the high endurance one).
They are actually the same card. I noticed it during his video. The text/font on the card, the design/colors ALL OF IT. The same exact card - except they mustve allowed vantrue to put their name on the card to be sold with their cameras. But if you look it is literally a sandisk card lol.
I use the E1 now and it captures what I need, this is crazy in comparison! They did a great job on this camera and thankfully a reviewer that can reflect that well

Coming from a newly installed viofo a139.. just ordered this. Great overview. I find that I really need a display (a139 does not) and wifi connectivity (a139 does but vantrue n4 does not). Im not stuck on cabin recording so this looks like a great option. Thank you for this video!

@@kidryanpz Going on 2yrs now and its still working great. Sometimes it does a reboot loop where it will constantly turn off and on again, unplugging/replugging it in fixes that. Its survived two Phoenix summers, hoping it survives a third. Definitely a good purchase.

I like the separate GPS mount, the software for the GPS in my 2012 Smarty Dashcam is toast, so hopefully I will not have that issue to worry about again.

Since you had a hands on experience with it, my question is - in reference to your comment about being able to flip the rear camera around within the menu - I am interested as I have a convertible that I could mount the back camera and reverse the lens so it would be correct. I'm wondering if that would be possible. I was concerned about the option to "Rotate Display" actually means it will flip the picture (in case it's mounted upside down you said). As I would have to mount it incorrectly and be able to flip the lens. Is that viable? Thanks in advance!

Great, thorough review! Does it enter Parking mode automatically when you switch off the engine? Or do you need to manually set parking mode each time you get out the car? I like the idea of using the hardwire kit but not if you have to manually change the mode each time. I assume it would just keep recording in normal mode overnight if you don't change it, but wasn't sure

I understand it switches automatically to parking mode......if enabled, but what about when I return and start the vehicle? Does it them come out of parking mode and start recording again or must I turn the camera back on?

Quick question I have the same battery pack as you do the power cell 8. I have plugged into the cigarette lighter. When I go to the parking mode setting the screen shows off and when I click it nothing happens
Is the 4k on that dashcam real or is it upscaled like in the N4?
Great video and I am very impressed with cam and your demonstration. What does Vantrue define as 4K? True 4K I am told is 3840 x 2560 pixels. Vantrue does not say on their website as far as can fine. Moreover there is no phone number for support and support is in Arizona and based on the address is is a residential home. Your report was from Jan 2022 so do you know more now and still recommend it, especially for support and longevity?
The specs that are given are not what you get. Everyone today is leaping ahead saying 4K because it Sells. Unfortunately only the front camera has the best resolution and the others are downgraded. The Vantrue X4S is one of the better dashcams around by a long shot. Viofo A129 Plus Duo, Viofo T130, Thinkware U1000, and GoPro Hero 11 are other considerations. If you reside/live in hot climate, keep your vehicle in the shade and a slight crack/ about 1/4 inch opening in the window to allow heat to escape. If a thief wants to get into your car, they will even the best security features won't stop them unless you have a taser device wired inside armed and ready when they hop onto the driver seat. Yeah! you got to electrocute them. You could have an engine kill computer chip but they could just tow your car away placed it in a moving trailer.
I'm a layman on the subject and I would like to know why this kit doesn't drain the car battery and the camera is on 24h and recording I'm worried about putting and destroying my battery since it's a hybrid sportage, if someone can guide me it would be great, thank you
Any ideas why my camera (that’s hardwired) continues to freeze and shut off ONLY when the rear camera USB is plugged in. The only way it works (about 10% of the time) is having it already running, and then plug the rear camera in, and even then there’s a good chance it freezes and shuts off. Also, I have a 256GB VanTrue memory card and it only records for 5 minutes at a time and re-loops. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
hello, good video let clarify you said that the camera switches to parking mode automatically ? so we don't need any hardwire cable or OBD cable to keep power on the camera when you turn off the car?
Parking mode will turn on automatically if you have it set to that however it will only run as long as you have power which means that you should have an external battery or hardwire to get the full benefits from parking mode. This applies to pretty well all dash cameras on the market.
I just bought a car and the previous owner had a vantrue installed but took the camera with him. The little wire is still hanging near the rearview mirror, can I buy this camera, mount it, simply plug it in and go? Thanks
So this is better to get than the N4 Pro if one does not want an interior camera.
@everydayreviews can the footage automatically download to your cellular phone for review right away or do you manually have download the footage? Especially to review right in case of an accident mores so on you phone.
It stays on the card in a protected folded labeled event. Or if u hit that top button it sends 2 videos to that protected event folder.
(Assumes it runs the same as my other vantrue)

Thank you, this is the best review bar none! I have just purchased and installed my X4S. It’s the best dash cam I’ve ever owned, well apart from one little thing, I cannot get my phone to connect to the dash cam, Well it says it’s made the connection on the dash cam screen but when I go into the app it says connection failed, connection timed out and it does that every time. I wonder if anyone may have any ideas to help? Many thanks once again, from the UK 🇬🇧
I heard that if you are using a VPN on your phone it may cause wifi connection issues

No way. 1080p 60fps front and back OR 2k 60fps+1080p 30fps OR 4K 30fps + 1080p 30fps.

I’ve never had a dash cam but have been interested in one. My question is what happens if there is an event that happens as a video loop is ending? Will it extend or does it get cut off in the middle?
It wouldn't really "end" anything as the lapse in between the two outputted files would be instant. So you would just play the earlier one and then start the next one. Like in a "playlist" per se. You would probably barely even see a flicker when the files change. ON A PC I MEAN. If you moved the two files to a PC and put them in a playlist, you wouldn't even really notice it was changing I would imagine. Although there MAY be a function in the camera to "save the last 20 minutes" or something. IDK if it would stll have the smaller 5 minute files that it normal does (if you select 5m I mean) AND ALSO have the 20m one. Or how what would work. But I wouldn't worry about something "ending" like you were thinking.
How they improve the quality but there is no inside camera view
I heard something about not recording at full quality unless an impact is detected, there is traffic events or even celestial events I like to have recorded that do not involve an impact (hopefully), is there a way to have full quality recording all the time?
You could record continuously by not activating parking mode and having a constant power source for the camera. Your SD card would of course fill up much quicker as well but its totally doable.
when I played my video on the Vantrue player, I do not see GPS data, for sure I have set it on on the camera. Do you need to take extra step to set it up?
Hi sorry for the delay. I’m not sure about any extra set up. Than camera is in another car I have that’s not with me right now. I’ll check when I get my car back.
I'm having so much trouble with the software. The player doesn't show the GPS mapping or other info. while the video plays. Because VANTRUE is in china it's been a back & forth with email trying to resolve the issue for 2 weeks now because of the time zone difference. I don't recommend this dashcam. I will update if a solution is found. btw, I'm using macOS. If I don't get it working I will have to send it back and NOTE the warranty clearly states that I have to pay for shipping even if the issue is with the product.
Use their IG page! They respond very quick! In my experience typically within 1-2 hours.
The problem that all Dashcams have is when Winter Snow piles on the car making it impossible to keep watch of your vehicle when the season is ripe for theft or to steal the whole car. The good news is having a tracking device installed separately from that installed by the auto manufacturer, a security alarm, and a camera mounted in the center of the headliner using the Cloud to save images. Then the crook won't get away with much being caught in the act. However, if they get underneath your car and snip electrical connections, cameras and alarms won't work. You can still be Car Jacked so be aware of your surroundings. Oh! don't expect the police to help you as the suspect gets away, the police will watch and don't care as the police need you to file a report first. The police will interrogate you making you out as the suspect before they do anything else. Have you ever noticed that when a crime is committed the police have to ask the public for help identifying the culprit because they lack the intelligence to conduct their own investigation? They expect the criminal to walk into the police station and confess.

No you will not be able to do that. You need a cloud based camera and a wifi hotspot to be able to do that.

You do not need to install an SD card in able to see the camera views. Did you toggle the views? Its one of the 2 lower buttons

Samsung Cards work well with this camera as well. Make sure to get a V30 card. Others are too slow.

I would rather buy garmin tendem instead. Garmin dash cam provide you with their app which you can view the videos on the app. In my opinion its more convinient in case of a road accident.

Like your N4 review, good review, but this is more of a video on menu setting. Again, unfortunately, the reviewer falls victim to the five most critical items: In an accident, police & insurance co will ask you: License Plate, Make, Model, Color, and outdoor audio. The reviewer never shows any of these important recording examples, except the rear recording accurately shows the rear vehicle's license plate, make, model, color, even though it is 1080pHD. The front camera recording, even though 1440pHD, cannot resolve any of these details except vehicle color. What is the point of these cameras? Please note I have given this review thumbs up and subscribed.
Duly noted. None of these cameras recorded exterior audio as the camera is on the inside. One thing that you have to consider though is that the video quality in the video will always be worse on CZcams as it gets highly compressed so the original is for sure better quality. Why such thick cable? Makes needlessly hard to route. Why is rear camera connected to front camera by cable? Either connect via WiFi (makes the MOST sense) or connect via a Y-cable to the cigarette lighter adapter. The ideal would be WiFi, then can possibly find a local 12volt source in the back of the vehicle. Especially if have RV or boat and mounting camera there (maybe with Wifi repeater in between).
Wired is always preferable to wireless. I’m testing a VIOFO A139 Pro right now and they use a super thin 2.5mm coaxial fable which makes routing the wires a super breeze.
No cabin camera and i can't find just the cabin camera I would like one not so in the open. Drunk people get upset when they can see the dash camera so one separate so i can make less visible
You can turn off the screen on any of the in cabin cameras so no one knows it’s recording.
It's not actually 4k, it's upsampled to 4k. So it's misleading marketing, there are only a handful of NATIVE 4k dashcams which are fairly pricey and also bulky because of the heatsinks.
is the rear camera waterproof? can it be mounted outside?

60 fps will be clearer especially if you wanted to grab a still off a video however with double the frames you would increase your file size.

2 reasons I didn't buy this X4S. First, it doesn't have cabin recording which is a nice feature. Secondly, it should have 4K x 2.5 K Front and Rear resolution.
That mount is super chunky. Nothing more low profile?
I’ll check to see if the standard mount is any smaller. This is the GPS. Never noticed it being chunky, really not that big. Stay tuned.

Do not...attach the rear view camera adhesive strip to the heating elements on the rear window. If you ever remove the adhesive strip, you can damage the wire elements and destroy your ability to defrost your rear window.
