  • This video discusses the drawbacks of the toxic Honour Culture existing in the South Asian countries and how it undermines civil liberties, democracy and individual rights. The discussion suggests at the end to replace Honour Culture with Dignity culture, which puts an individual above the societal perception of honour.

that should not be the argument ki since you are Hindu people didn't kill you (recent case if you know a Muslim girl married a Hindu guy, the girl's family murdered the boy) so this argument is baseless. People on both sides doing but one thing with pure facts and logic no one can deny that it's changing like still if we rank most honour killing happens in Muslims, then Hindus, then Christians. And it's true. Now I am not saying this to target anyone but it's true we still need to work like Hindus and Muslims should learn from Parsi, Jews and at last Christians.

I always say that we can easily witness a surge in the divorce rate in Pakistan if it's only ensured that a woman leaving her husband will be provided shelter, food, work opportunity, and respect. You will watch the women leave. I read so many cases of women living in oppressive marriages because they are dependent, have kids, and their own families are not willing to cooperate or accept them if they decide to go back to their parents. This further boosts the confidence of such monsters because they know these women have nowhere to go. These women just need some social security and acceptance to take this leap of faith and make better choices for themselves.

As an Indian, I can say that people here have evolved a lot. They have realised the importance of empowering their daughters. It's really good to see that whenever I meet some relative and their first advice is "do not get married unless u become completely independent".
Most of the Indian parents are now quite supportive of their children's career choices, it's not just restricted to Engineering Or Medical any longer.
Inter caste or inter state marriages are also being accepted by many parents.
It's not easy for most of our parents to accept all these changes immediately. It's us, who has to make them understand this, not fight/argue with them. Some of their concerns are obvious but they too have to learn how to be more accepting of the fact that the time has changed.
Indians have changed a lot, but yes there are still many who hold onto these mindsets, especially in the rural areas. But I'm sure things will change with time.

She was worried about our dad. My father is a rational man. I spoke with him. Made him understand that she is in her late 30s and this is a blessing in disguise. He and my mother understood. Even if they wouldn't have and the Fiance was not on board I would have still stood by my sister. I am going to be a Mama.

I cannot believe Muzammil is from Pakistan, a rare blend of reason, balance and free from religious madness. I sincerely hope every Pak citizen can role model him. For change he focuses on Pak issues rather than worrying about India.

I'm a Liberal person and I actually do worry about India. To me India is another bullshit country having lot of bad influence in Pakistan. Like the caste system of Indian culture is still haunting pakistan despite being no caste discrimination in the religion of majority. I care for Kashmiri people not just bcz that they are Muslims but other links such as ethnicity, language, geography and culture etc.

Our society doesn't allow new generation to do something by their own because they run their family system in terms of their own mindset

Luckily I found you and your profound insights otherwise I was also victim of childhood indoctrination and was overzealous about honour culture and those obsolete and metaphysical concept of izzat. Your lectures are thousand times better than mullahs indoctrination

I don't know if you are from India or Pakistan, but here in India we have sort of lost our individuality, but this Nupur Sharma case in my opinion seems to be a hope of light that can restore it as it might push demand for UCC and repeal of blasphemy laws.
