I'd like to quote something, the idea of "copy of copy", initially was given by Plato in his book Republic if I am not wrong. But yeah you can say that he only talked about Poetry there. He said," Poetry is an imitation of imitation", as in "Thrice removed from the reality". But he also said as an Idealist that nothing is real, this is where he talked about the Truth and Reality not just the Poetry that real ideas are in Heaven or in Mind.
