  • Warhammer, or maybe I should say Games Workshop, is a massively popular tabletop battle game. Personally, I really love the models they make, as there are some amazing fantasy monsters, mechs, and armies.
As with anything popular, video games get made, and there are a crap load of them based on the various Games Workshop properties, and in this video, we are going to take a look at some of them to see if they are any good.
Oh, and if you can all show this video to Henry Cavill, that would be great. He might finally be my friend if he sees this and give me a part as an extra in his upcoming Warhammer TV series.

I'm glad to see that you included Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun in this video.

Awesome stuff! Thank you for providing my first look at the VR one, now I can get it as it looks quite fun (Bolters akimbo! xD). Dark Omen was and is still my fave fantasy strategy game. It's not as hard as Horned Rat imo but still difficult. I did manage to complete it as a kid though were as HR I got about 5 battles in and soft locked every time. The Space Hulk game I got from a second hand store way back when for PS1 without the instructions and effing love it. I had no idea what the controls were and while I figured out most when I got into melee I just mashed buttons screaming at the TV. Sometimes my marine blocked and countered and most of the time not. Getting into combat was exhilarating because I had no idea what I was doing and beating Genestealers to the ground made me cheer every time lol. Ahhh good times.

That Space Hulk game for the PS1/Saturn plays a lot more manageably when you use that Gameshark code which gives you infinite time in the map menu. I don't like being hurried when I'm taking a shit, and I don't like being hurried when I'm assigning orders to my space marines either, especially as doing so even remotely on time is dependent on memorizing the awkward controls in that menu and that's just too much to ask of anyone in the 2020s.
There's no need to feel guilty IMO as for the first few hours of playing the game I didn't even realize that there was a campaign, that you can press 'right' from the single/historic mission selection. That's how sloppily the interface in the game is designed. Giving yourself infinite time to assign orders is the least you can do to balance things out.
As for the other Space Hulk games, well the original from the early 90s looks even more unmanageable than this one, so never even tried to play it.
I played through and beat the one released in 2011 or so on the PC. It's a straightforward adaption of the board game rules, absolutely no additions to the formula, and it's played from a sort of isometric perspective if memory serves. And I can't recommend it enough. Absolutely ace. But probably not for everyone, it received a lot of mixed reviews.
Played some other Warhammer 40k games here and there but my favourites are the Dawn of War series.

Vermintide 2 improves in every aspect. Really recommend it.

Nice. Does it have a decent single player? It’s unlikely I’d play it online. If so I’d be very tempted. Fantasy is my jam.

Geez I was a sad-case kid who painted those kinda figures too, until I discovered girls, booze and drugs.
