- After finding a 1905 V-nickel early this year, I came to the conclusion that it was probably going to be a while before I found anything older. Looks like I was wrong!

Hi Ryan,
My son Thomas and I have been following your videos for a few months. We just started coin roll hunting recently and the oldest coin we have found is a 188? V-nickel. It is so worn, almost smooth, that we cannot read the last digit in the date. It does say "CENTS" on the back, so it is an 1883 -1889 coin. As for an Indian Head, did not have to go far or long for that. We asked my neighbor to go through his penny jar. Found a 1907 Indian Head, in the neighbors penny jar.
Mike Thomas dang, you guys are killing it! You've got me beat for oldest coin- the 1900 Indian that I found in this episode is still my oldest to date. Great score, and I'm glad you've been enjoying the videos. Keep me updated on what you're finding, I love to hear about it 👍🏻 good luck and happy hunting!
1880 is oldest I found in rolls. My first was an 1882. Found it as a kid within a few rolls in the late 80s. I found a 1908 Indian on the road. Almost didn't pick it up cause I didnt want to miss the bus.
hey quin i came from the bank today and had no idea at the very end of my search that i would find a whole 50 cent roll of weats and they are in excellent condition just a lil green on the sides how should i clean them
I have found 3 Indian heads. A 1900, a 1908, and an 1883. Sweet find!
Wow 1883, that's impressive :o
That's awesome 👨 $$$$$$$
My oldest is a 1918 penny
have a 1901 and a 1906
I have found 4 indian heads. A 1901, 1907, 1898 and a 1872.
im increasingly getting more tempted to buy coin boxes by watching these videos lol
Great find! I love to paintball! Love the rush of the kill or be killed gameplay. I love to snowboard. Barrel rolls off a 50 ft kicker, feel like flying! But still, nothing beats the feeling of pulling out a really old coin from a coin roll hunt. My adrenaline goes off and I feel like a million bucks! Awesome find! Keep searching!
Gotta love the thrill of the hunt!
That capped die error is awesome! I've never found one. A month and a half ago I went through what would end up being a full box of pennies. Initially I bought 10 rolls and noticed that there were quite a few older uncirculated coins from the early 60s, and an uncirculated 1956-D wheat cent... so I decided to go back and get the remaining 40 rolls from that box... I found 2 uncirculated 1957-D wheat cents, and an 1889 Indian Head!
That's a great hunt! Finding the IHP is very cool and rare for CRH. That Canadian penny is beautiful too. Thanks for the vid.
+stackattack I was ecstatic to find it, thanks for watching!
That’s awesome!! I have found no IHP’s while hunting coin rolls!
I have a few errors that I would like to see how much they are worth.
great video Ryan, Ryan I found 1890 Indian head penny what do you think its worth
Awesome Finds!
I have never found an indian head penny, and I have been hunting for proboly a little over half a year. My best penny find was a 1909 V.D.B. Still looking for that S!
+Zach Miller That date beats an Indian head any day! Before finding this one, my oldest penny found coin roll hunting was a 1920-s so I was surprised to say the least!
do you keep pre 1982
I have been roll hunting for around 2 years. my bank orders me a $25 box every 2 weeks. I have found 3 Indians so far. my oldest is 1891. nice video.
Nice finds! I just got 20 rolls from the bank and am averaging 10-15 wheat pennies per roll. I already have a lot of wheat pennies but I got more to add to the collection. Anytime its snowing or raining is a good time for coin roll hunting.
I'm on about my 200th roll and no Indian head yet. I found a lot of 50s 60s and 70s in au to bu condition but my fav find is a 1970 penny in bu condition with a perfect reddish toning on the front and back, its a beauty.
Excellent finds my friend best I've ever found in a penny box was I think I had a total of I think 42 wheat pennies I was in shock haha and I've opened up over 20 boxes and still have not got anything to special
+sportstradingcards77 Dang that's a lot of wheats! Even if you don't get anything too special, finding wheat pennies really never gets old :D Happy hunting!
Nice! I found an 1889 Indian head penny in a 50 year old bag of coins.
I haven't found a Indian head yet, but found a 1911 ' V ' nickel several years ago in pocket change. Found a 1940 Mercury dime the same way.
i have a 1943 p war nickel error where can sell it or if its worth anything
The 1900 Indian Head Cent was a very nice find. The error penny looks like a combination of a capped die and a die crack.
I have a few 1859 , 1903 , 1910 , 1914 , 1917, 1920, 1924 , 1939 ,1940 , 1941 , 1942 , 2 1943 steel , 1-1959 zinc coated
I found a 1904 in IH penny around the corner. like a hand full. you still can see the feathers and read liberty real clear on the head-dress.
Awesome indian head cent and I love that capped die. I thought it was a blank planchet at first but then saw the really shallow Lincoln impression. Awesome finds on both.
Thanks man!

I just started coin roll hunting in January of 2015 and I'm on my third or fourth box Pennies and I found my first Indian head in my second box and it was a 1895 and it was in pretty good shape!
That's awesome, enjoy the beginners luck while it lasts :D
A friend of mine found a 1860 IH cent CRH, oldest find I have heard of in circulation CRH. My oldest was a 1880 Indian Head.
I was given a small collection of coins and was pretty fascinated with it. I have 2 Indian head pennies 1903 and 1906 I also have a Canadian king Edward VII penny from 1903.
Kinjii that's awesome!
Found an 1859 indian head a few months ago...its what sparked my interest in coin hunting!
Great find! My interest was sparked off of a v nickel score a while back!
Silver dime in a penny roll, 3 wheaties and an indian head. First ever time. I got it from a subway from 1 roll. So at one point the bst denomination for me to find silver was pennies!
Hey Ryan that 1976 coin was awesome and probably worth more than 30-40.00. I have been CRH for almost a year now and probably looked through 25 boxes of pennies, but no Indian Head yet. I did find a 1902 v Nickel in great shape, so that was pretty cool. Keep on hunting!!!
Coolcoinz2014 hey Coolcoinz, thanks for watching! I agree, that error penny is still one of the coolest things I ever found coin roll hunting. I'm actually editing this Saturday's video right now so I'm glad you commented! Reminds me of why I do this stuff 👍🏻 1902 v nickel?? That's older than any nickel I ever found!! I hope you got it on video. Happy hunting to you too!
it looks like a struck by die cap
2:10 is a brockage error. Worth about 50 bucks. I've gotten one of these before roll hunting. I've gotten Indian Cents in boxes and even found an 1873 Indian walking once but it was in terrible condition of course.
I'm a collector from Canada. That 57 Canadian penny is a real beauty. The Indian head is awesome too. I have one from 1900 as well.
Thanks! I'm from Michigan so I get quite the load of Canadian coins in my rolls I suppose you could say I'm the closest thing you're gonna find to a Canadian penny coin roll hunter these days :D
+ThreeDotNaught Yes, you're quite right. We just don't see them here anymore. I live in Alberta which is above Montana. When the penny was discontinued here it disappeared quickly. Even though there were billions made they will become increasingly more scarce. Now is the time to be collecting them. It puts you in a unique position for sure.
I noticed you had a 1953 in this video. There is an uncommon variety of that year that is worth $20 even now and a variety of 1955 worth considerably more.
If you have any questions about Canadian coins let me know.
+ThreeDotNaught I found a 1945 Canadian penny in change!
Brob21 That's awesome! What a coincidence too because I just recently unearthed a 1946 canadian penny metal detecting- a first for me! You should be able to see it in the next episode of DETECTING on the channel. Happy hunting!
Good luck metal detecting!
The oldest penny I found was an 1864 Indian Head. The bad thing the machine that wrapped the roll it had a large circlescratch on it. The penny was on the end of roll.
Your the best CZcamsr in the world 😀🙂😁
I got a 1909 S,VDB in change from a store. Ever since i don't use change at the stores. I get change back...
No indian head yet. I started towards the begining of the summer. I might have searched 6-8 boxes of pennies and maybe another 2 in customer wrapped rolls that come from my work. Found a couple interesting indian heads but no real deal errors like you have found. At the moment I'm wrapping them by date and then will go through them to find the wide am's and close am's and all of the other fun stuff. I like to watch your videos alot. You're not like the guys who go through 100 boxes of pennies at a setting. To me, thats a turn off in the world of numismatics. Keep the videos going and the other ones too. Great job Ryan!
+Tony B Thank you for watching and commenting! You'll get that Indian head soon 👍🏻
I found a 1976 penny with the state of Indiana engraved into it and a 1929 Canada penny
Nice finds
Ive been through probably 50 boxes and the best thing that I've found is a 1910-s Wheat cent and got it Eye-balled to be between Good and Fine condition.
Sweet finds, I have a a 1908 Indian head penny, Thanks for showing us your find, It's really sweet.
Good hunting man! (I was given it by my sisters EX boyfriend)
+Jaydon s (J-Frame Games) That's sweet man! I have a few that I received as gifts too but this was the first one I ever found- coin roll hunting or metal detecting.
My first Indian Head was at work. It was also a 1900. I work at a gas station near the projects so I always get old coins because most of our customers are junkies that dig through the house to find any money. So some probably find grandpas stash then I end up with the coins.
I found my Indian in my 3rd box its a 1897. I also found 34 wheat pennies in the same box.
Great hunt! Wow I’m the first to comment here in 7 years
My oldest coin that I found coin Roll hunting is a 1928 carried

Yessir

Best find metal detecting: 1901 O Barber Dime OR 1878 Indian head penny
my best find was a 1922 peace dollar that is in MS-40 condition and my best find to date.
You don't have to look anything up. You have the knowledge now. the value of any coin on any given day can change. It is cool to see someone get into the hobby. I still catch a lot of grief for this hobby that is "so un-cool" and not Rock and Roll. Congrats on your find. There are many more out there waiting for you. K. Bowman
Kelly, I can tell you right now that one year from today, coin roll hunting is going to be the coolest hobby in the world because I'm gonna make it be!
Kelly Bowman I get made fun of for that saying I'm not cool by my friends it hurts but I do my hobby my passion don't stop I used to get bullied at school but no matter what do what you want to Persue I have made a lot of money doing this finding silver error coins I like doing this so I do it I just recently found a error coin that solid for a nice 1200 dollars so I just have to say do what you like to do.
Kelly Bowman
My best find so far is a tie between a silver plated 1958 wheatie and a 1915 wheatie
my best find is 1934 wheat penny. Nothing mind blowing but it is pretty cool.

I found an 1887 IH in my register a week ago. fine condition with its luster remaining. I couldn't believe it. I'm now a. coin hunter lol
I just found a 1902 Indian head penny over the weekend.
I haven't found an Indian head penny ever, but my best find so far is a 1927 wheat penny.
My wife gave me a 1901 indian head Penny any idea on how much it's worth?it has pretty good detail for such an old coin.
I haven't found an Indian yet but my best find for pennies would have to be either a 1910 wheat or a 1936 King George V from Canada.
Those are both great! I have found a King George V penny in my rolls as well, 1932!
I've found 2 Indians coin roll hunting, 1906 and 1907. Also found a King George V penny from 1933.
wait, no, the King George V I found was 1934 not 1936. Still one of my best finds =D
That's funny, my first ever box of pennies had the King George V penny in it and I was just blown away.
Nice, I forget what I had in my first box of pennies, but I did get wheats.
I have a bunch of wheat pennies ones from 1888 and I've got a German coin that from 1831
also have a 1929 d wheat penny

Damn, after he looked at the storm I heard thunder and it started raining
In one Box I found the same indian head penny only mine is a 1899 plus 12 regular indian heads in the same box plus a penny I cant identify with a flag on it I guess..Good luck thank for sharing.
I have 2 Indian heads a 1901 and 1889
1929 is the oldest I found :P I guess I have really bad luck
The line in the 76 penny is a die crack. The die was cracked and it let some of the copper through, therefore creating a line.
how many Indian head Penny's do you have?
i got a 1982 double die obverse
CUTIEEEE😍😍😍😍
i pulled 2 wheat pennies out of 5 canadian rolls! Now thats nuts!!

You can sell the Canadian pennies on ebay for big profit due to the penny being cancelled in 2012. I have thousands in boxes for just this purpose. I have 4 boxes of uncirculated 2012 that I bought at the mint in Ottawa and I paid 25 dollars per box and can sell each box for 100 right now.
a 1910 wheat penny and a 1927 buffalo nickel
I actually found one in my first box only about 20 rolls in. It was a 1883, and I was estatic to say the least
That's awesome. Have you found any since?
No I havent, but I haven't searched a ton yet either. I just started with pennies not to long ago. I also ironically found a 1943 steel cent in that box as well. It was a good start
Seethrough Thelies Awesome! Keep hunting and let me know what you're finding along the way 👍🏻
Will do
I actually got an Indian head from my grandpa. It was 1882 in very fine condition.
I have 18 indian head pennies left behind from my father. How does one go about valuing, discovering if they are rare?
Shelley Angeloni I would start by looking online. Research Indian head penny mintages and check to see if your dates are rare, then look into possible errors once you've run that check
4 boxes to get an Indian is a great ratio. Might be a while before you find another.
i looked though 10 boxes before i found 1 Indian in the last box also in the last role it was a 1890
That's pretty good!
I have never hunted rolls but I found a 1886 Indian head penny
My best find so far is a 1949 S Nickel
In MS65 condition ^
Just found my first indian head yesterday and I believe it was my 3rd or 4th box I forgot exactly which one. Mine was an 1890.
That's sweet! The fact that it's an 1800s Indian Head makes it even more extraordinary. Happy hunting!
