    Grew up in a hot and humid gym with patina on the bars and metal weights banging around and every dude was built. Now a bunch of skinny cross fit guys flood the internet with shiny bars , special coatings, and colorful bumper plates. This is the best and most practical review I have seen in the last two weeks of researching as I decided to build home gym and lift once again . Thanks

    Some more close up shots of the two bars would have been cool

    My gym is primarily a power lifting gym. We have TPB for most of the bars. Some of them are deadlift bars, most are power bars. I have a Rogue Ohio power bar at home. The patina on the bars in the gym gives it character, none of them are rusting. A good amount of competitive lifters are packing 500-700+ lbs in there, not a single barbell is permanently bent.

    If you're using this for deadlifts, that .5mm variance in diameter makes a difference when you only have average sized hands.

    I think for someone who competes in powerlifting in the IPF the Ohio power bar is the way to go since you'll simply train more comp specific. The Texas power bar would be to whippy compared to your eleiko bar on the platform due to the smaller diameter, less tensile strength and shorter sleeves.

    Depends on your use, personal preference and if you compete in any specific powerlifting federation and personal preference. I can personally feel the difference between a 28.5mm and a 29mm bar. If you squat or deadlift heavy enough you’ll be able to tell the difference between 190k and 205k tensile.

    • @bertgardner6570
      @bertgardner6570 Před 2 lety +2

      Tensile strength does not equate to stiffness if thats what you're getting at. A 205k bar is not "stiffer" than a 190k.

      @@davidrlifts i dont know to explain either but its definitely not stiffness.. Ive trained with barbell 29mm 225k PSI and it was less stiff than 205k rogue

    The biggest difference in my gym to me is the sleeve length with the ohio one I bang the plates on the sides of the rack cause I unrack a little weird doesn’t happen on the texas one

    • @ryeann2567
      @ryeann2567 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Same. I've heard others complain about it as well. The wider the rack, the more likely you are to smack the weights on the rack, and the OPB exacerbates that due to its dimensions.

    I feel like the Texas bar has more spring out of the hole. Don't know if the stiffness has anything to do with that? I can tell the difference in the grip size and knurling between the two and the texas bar is my choice as well

  • @craigw7471

    Texas bar is a great value with chrome/chrome. It’s over $100 cheaper than rogue. With bar steel, it’s not much difference where rogue is $5 cheaper in shipping.

  • @Griffboi117
    @Griffboi117 Před 3 lety +3

    Does the price include shipping? If not, does that change the price comparison?

    • @SquatSimp
      @SquatSimp  Před 3 lety +3

      *Price does not include shipping* because that will depend on where you live. Relative to where I am (OH) it did not change the price comparison.

    If thier ipf specific barbells, then they should be the same. The only difference would be the knurling.

    Shipping with Rouge is so fast, and only 25$. Both of my Rouge bars are stainless steel. Texas power bars don't have that option 😢

      Oh the weight bench it made my wrist twist . Does same when I did deadlifts . It just messes up my reps . I have Texas deadlift bar and very good does not do that at all neither does my Ohio power bar of any other bar I tryed so far just that one I kind of hate that bar for that

      So far I tryed 2 Texas pier bars at different gyms they both do the same makeing me also fail my reps or makeing weight fall on the bench in my chest not worth it to me
