What You Should Use Post-Gliscor (Gen 9 OU)

- FURTHER ELABORATION ON AMOONGUSS: Worry Seed is a move that removes the target's ability, basically meaning Gliscor would suddenly take a ton of Toxic damage that stacked up turn by turn if Amoonguss used Worry Seed. Another reason I didn't mention (but you may have deduced) as to why Amoonguss loves Gliscor being gone so much is that it absorbed Spore due to being Poisoned from Toxic Orb.

I'm a big fan of Dire Claw on sneasler. Purely because of the hilarious words opponents leave in chat when put to sleep.
Yea Dire Claw is definitely a valid option! I prefer Gunk Shot since it can kill Amoonguss and OHKO Zapdos and Moltres without risking Static or Flame Body, but I definitely see the appeal to Dire Claw.
Dire Claw is like Freeze-Dry. It’s a poison type move that’s also super effective against rage type opponents
@@oxygen3143more like a poison move effective against poison type opponents 😂
As a rager, it's just OP. Being able to status opposing Poison types ( which are the only resists to Poison + Fighting besides Landorus-T) with a Poison move is just messed up. It's not like the move is weak either
Lol I use an endure liechi berry unburden reversal set. The absolute nuke that no one expects
I think Tankchomp deserves a mention for being a defensive ground type that can work on faster paced teams.
Mixed chomp is also an option
i think people really want to go for that scale shot set now that Chomp has It
considering Tankchomp did ok instead of fanstatic before
I think Garchomp is still pretty disappointing and doesn't provide nearly as much utility as Clodsire or Ting-Lu... it's certainly usable but it wasn't good before Gliscor arrived and with Rillaboom in the tier, I don't have much faith for its performance post-Gliscor. I hope I get proven wrong though, Garchomp is a really cool pokemon. :/
There’s no reason to use chomp when tusk exists.
Mixed Chomp, faster speed tier, access to Spikes.@@Pam234
ive always been a clodsire believer and i’ll never stop being a clod believer
Same, my friend. Same.
Great video as always, very informative professor Pinkacross.
Honestly, I think this may be prime time foe rhe return of Chomp. I've seen it much more even before Gliscor's ban after the bans of Moon and Bax because it doesn't gave much competition as a PHYSICAL dragon attacker. Pult most commonly runs Screens+Curse or Specs and Dragonite is mostly ESpeed, so that means Chomp's much more appealing as a physical attacker. And with Gliscor gone, yes, Garchomp does still have competition with Clod and Ting-Lu for Spikes setting ground types (key words are ground types, not including Hisuirrot), but it faces less competition both defensively and offensively now, making it significantly better than it was before all the bans
I think you're right in the sense that this is Garchomp's best chance... but I still don't have much hope that it'll be good. Iron Valiant + Rillaboom being in the tier is a major pain for it, and all the strong priority makes Scale Shot sets not worth the trouble. I hope it can prove me wrong though, Garchomp is an awesome pokemon.
Very proud of this team, please roast it Pinkacross! Btw huge fan, and if u see this please just call me Franklin.

Recently subbed. Great content. HO video was very helpful.
A knock off user I think is slept on is AV t-tar. I run max hp, damn near max attack, enough speed to outspeed slower gambits. Tera steel with heavy slam. When I do run it I usually run wish support grass terrain. Great tusk being one of the only pokemon that just ignore. However, wish fish covers a good amount of options it checks.
I ran it during the time everyone was running the hyper o teams iron mouth, iron val, hatterne and glimora. Quit running it cause gliscor.
I been playing this game since pokemon online and shoddy battle though. T-tar is one of my favs sometimes nostalgia kicks in.
Gtterain + AV Tyranitar sounds pretty hype actually, that Special Defense stops a lot in the current metagame. The one weakness I see is hazards, Ttar hates them all. Perhaps you could run this strategy alongside Hatterene?
@@pinkacross2042 yes t-tar hates hazards. Almost nothing you can do about this. I predict ceaseless edge mon will see massive usage with gliscor gone and hatt being in Ou still. Anyways, T-tar is actually pretty good against HO. Heavy slam destroys a lot of fairy types and knock off kills all ghost. It can also take a hit from them.
well done!

Yo was there a reason for the valiant to be more mixed?
I can't believe a video like this exists. It's not a bad thing but I never though a video about what you should use after a ban
"Do not run Choice Scarf Dragapult" made me spit my drink in laughter.
Then I remembered how many baleful screams I heard across the world when their Dragapults were outrun by my Timid Scarf DPulse Salazzle.
Hilariously, I only actually got Salazzle (Scarf + Tera Psychic Blast) to deal with SNEASLER... Because Acrobatics just swept everything in sight.
It failed to do that when I remembered Unburden was a thing... But boy was it funny to cancel people thinking Dragapult and Valiant were their wincons.

"How did Magnezone do like 90% of Tusks' HP"
Dragapult doesn't have a name because it replaced Roaring Moon; that used to be Adamant Moon with DDance, Outrage, EQ, a Persim berry; I forgot the rest.
But if I was being honest, the ban was a blessing in disguise, because good grief those dragon darts bring back the PTSD of Unova's Dragon Age in people.

Here's my most used team!
Specs ribombee, good clean up, and actually deals wayy more damage than you might think, ohko's and outspeeds great threats like dragapult, walking wake, great tusk, zapdos (with tera), and 2hko's gliscor (when that was relevant ofc)
Also extremely unexpected, creating a surprise factor:
Ribombee (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Shield Dust
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Bug Buzz (mostly used for ogerpon, since i can outspeed it)

Also clean up, ohko's great tusk without +Sp.A:
Yanmega (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Speed Boost
Tera Type: Ground (Tera ground is mostly for ghodengo, heatran, toxapex, kingambit, Iron Moth and iron treads)
EVs: 32 Def / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature

- Endure (to activate petaya berry, pålus gain an extra speed boost from the ability)
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Tera Blast
Amazing lead, unexpected knock off, min speed flip turn for safe switch-ins, and heart swap to not be vulnerable to setup-mons:
Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration

Amazing physical threat, great into zapdos, great tusk, alomomola etc. SD for extra dmg potential + taking advantage of sturdy:

Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 240 Atk / 16 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance

Rawst berry does not get rid of paralyze intentionally, which is good here since a burn hurts way more in most scenarios:

Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 116 HP / 228 Atk / 16 Def / 148 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance

Agility allows me to invest FULLY in defense to be somewhat tanky and still being able to deal massive amounts of dmg, and after Agility it can be stupidly fast while still keeping that bulk:
Iron Moth @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA

Love it, u can do the same with sneasler’s ban now 😂
Sneasler was broken but it didn't define the meta like Gliscor did, I don't think it will make nearly as big a splash as the Gliscor ban.
Wow man, your recent videos are getting mad views
Is this the Jimothy bump?
The Jimothy bump started me off and made a lot of people aware of my channel, I'd say it's a major factor. I have been increasing video quality and content as well though-- Jimothy can bring the people here but I've got to work to make them stay haha :]

Also, your insight was on point, the Sneasler QB came in!

Pinkacross, what are your thoughts ons the gliscor ban on the meta? Do you think the meta got better or worse? Do you think Dengo will get banned?
Gliscor ban was very good in my opinion, super toxic (pun intended) and it limited a LOT more pokemon than it enabled. I don't think Gholdengo will get banned but I very much hope it does.
Looks like CZcams might have ate my comment? Hard to tell. Trying again!
I'm interested in seeing Sneasler's fate after having yet another check scooped out of the metagame. I can't imagine it staying a whole lot longer given the meta unless some huge shift happens. I wouldn't be super surprised if it leaves even before Gholdengo.
I'll be willing to throw a team in the ring. I haven't built something new since Gliscor ban, but I can't imagine banning Gliscor making this team any worse than it already was.
It's basically trying to get some good value out of BandTar with a double dark strat. I'd call it a bulky offense. Some people might think its balance at a glance due to G-King but it's really there to add extra offensive pressure to my other threats via Future Sight.
Kept going back and forth between SD/Spikes on Ogerpon. Both seemed fine but wasn't sure which was better.

True, there was more to it than JUST Gliscor-- but Gliscor leaving undeniably frees up Sneasler a LOT-- Acrobatics is still an option but dual stab + dark / ghost coverage is now an unlocked option that pretty much covers the entire tier.
thats a cool EV spread on sneasler, i usually just go max atk max speed, does it allow sneasler to live hits from certain pokemon?
No specific purpose, just that 281 after Unburden outspeeds Basculegion in Rain. I like a lot of bulk on my Sneasler, but you can make it faster-- some run max speed to outpace other Sneasler, some want to outspeed Scarf Meowscarada, but overall 281 is my favorite.
@@pinkacross2042 thanks man! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@pinkacross2042I've never given this much thought to a single stat before. this is incredible
any thoughts on how thundrus-T is in this metagame now ?i've been using it since the gliscor ban along with galarian weezing and i was curious as to how good you think it is, idk if you'll respond or read this but just curious
Thundy-T is pretty amazing in the current metagame! Knock Off is a great new option as is Weather Ball (you can pair it with a Chilly Reception Slowking or Glowking and get an awesome 100 BP Ice Move). I'd say it's B+ or A- on the Viability Rankings in my opinion.
@@pinkacross2042 good to know :) i personally run dark pulse over it even if knock off has more utility, i need a way to break substitute iron moth easily
@@littensalt I would NEVER advise running Dark Pulse-- Thundy-T shouldn't really be an Iron Moth answer in the first place. With options like Focus Blast, Grass Knot, Weather Ball, Tera Blast, Volt Switch, Knock Off, and Thunderbolt-- I don't think Dark Pulse deserves consideration. Good luck with building! :]
Hi pinkacross! I’m currently trying to build a walking wake set that is good as a wall breaker and late game cleaner, I’m trying to experiment right now with different sets and I’m wondering if I could get your standpoint on it!
I would advise running Proto Special Attack boosting with a Modest Nature, max Special Attack, and enough speed to outpace Landorus-Therian. The moves I'd run would be Dragon Pulse, Surf, Agility, and either Substitute or Tera Blast for your last slot. If you end up going with Substitute (my preferred set), I'd run Tera Water. If you do decide to run Tera Blast, I think Tera Electric is the best option.
One other method is Tera Water Choice Specs Timid with Surf, Knock Off, Flip Turn and Draco Meteor.
@@pinkacross2042 Thanks! I’ll try them out today!

Is there a chance that Lando-T might actually drop to UU. I'm really curious about that. The other thing is that is it possible that Scale Shot, SD, Garchomp might see a resurgence or no? I think Kingambit, Gholdengo and Sneasler need to be banned but I am curious to know your thoughts.
Yes certainly, Landorus might drop to UU. As for that Garchomp set, probably not. The presence of Rillaboom, Kingambit and Espeed Dragonite make Scale Shot pretty terrible, and Iron Valiant with Booster Energy hurts a lot as well. Overall it's a terrible time to be an SD Garchomp-- I tested it and it really surprised me with how awful it was. As for banning those 3-- yea, I can agree with that. Dhengo first though, imo.
refreshing to see good reason. gambit, sneasler and gholdengo are such an oppressive presence. so is manaphy i feel like :/

What do you think is so good about Bellibolt right now?
Bellibolt recently got access to Toxic, making it the only pokemon (other than Toxtricity) that can use Toxic + STAB Volt Switch, and it's very bulky and has solid utility with Static. The only thing that could switch in is Iron Treads, which is covered by Muddy Water.

The main idea of this team was to use specs Torn-T as a fast wallbreaker that can keep coming in and out with regenerator and veil support. Other than that I tried to make a bit of an anti-meta bulky-ish veil offense team. I made the grimmsnarl set with the idea of completely shutting down specs dragapult, as that is the most common mon that will outspeed and OHKO Torn-T, but I've found it's surprise factor to be very nice and frequently useful, it has speed EVs so that it's 1 speed faster than max speed kingambit. Another fun feature of the team is that it has 3 different mons with strong priority moves, meaning you often have a get-out-of-jail-free card against setup sweepers. I don't remember how I arrived on those great tusk IV's, he's mostly just there as hazard removal tbh. Dragonite runs fire punch over earthquake because I was getting sick of air balloon Gholdengo. Another fun feature of the team is having 3 common leads, (A-ninetales, H-samurott, Grimmsnarl), opponents really don't know which one I'll pick.
Disclaimer: I know the team is kinda off-meta and even a little gimmicky. I was barely unable to push into the 1700's with this team (which would currently be top 500), although I didn't try for very long. If I tried for a longer time I might be able to get it done. I don't remember if I've ever been top 500 in an OU format before, probably not. I did feel like the team was outgunned in the face of some top tier threats like tera fairy kingambit and some powerful (but common) hyper offense teams. Also Torn-T's inherent inaccuracy really sucked sometimes.
This team looks cool, and thank you for the description!

What else do I need to outspend rly? other valiant? I can use gambit sucker punch or sth.
Thanks for the submission, your comments have been noted! :]
@@pinkacross2042 also just adding on to my previous comment cos I feel I want to comment a little more on my team and certain preferences I have
Hamurott has a weird EV spread and item cos I value it being able to take hits and setting spikes while being able to deal enough damage to reach certain damage thresholds on certain mons. If there's a better spread for this I'll gladly change it up.
snealser is quite obvious in what its doing so I won't discuss further.
zapdos is meant to be I special defensive pivot that can do decent damage if need be but I feel like hurricane doesn't do as much dmg as I need it to, if there is a way to fix that that will help immensely.
Gambit not investing in speed cos it's already slow as balls and no Lum berry cos I feel it won't matter as much compared to the extra bulk leftovers can give. my sweeper when shit hits the fan.
valiant my beloved is the primary sweeper when I don't need gambit. if there's a better coverage move and tera I will use that instead :/
Tusk is the def tank and rapid spin. not much to say here.

So Gliscor got banned? I guess nothing good can exist in OU? 😑
This is why I play Ubers.
You clearly play Ubers because you have no knowledge on how Gliscor is too restricting for the metagame
@@herhhetj5372 Every single generation since 4 has survived just fine with it existing. It has literally been UU for the vast majority of them, it's power level is not even *anywhere close* to touching the threshold of Ubers. Moveset wise, it is one of the most passive Pokemon to exist, mainly just chipping mons with Toxic-Protect. There is nothing unhealthy about it. It can be countered just fine. Also, it doesnt even get Roost this gen, so it's even more neutered than it was before. Notice how, unlike you, I didn't have to be condescending to make my point, because I have facts backing me up. You only have emotion.
@@KingStr0ngcan u have facts if you havent played the said tier?
@@asierrv How do you assume things about someone that you've never met? I've played OU dozens of times. I play it every gen.
@@KingStr0ng spikes + gholdengo pushes it over the edge
