@@ClearConscience. In her last years, she was friends with another notorious murderer of young women and children who murdered alongside her partner - Rose West. They apparently got on like a house on fire . There was never any true repentence in Myra. If she had truly any empathy for those victims she would never have been able to live with herself and would have killed herself.
Lord Longford was the idiot who tried to get her released - a silly, naive liberal type who was easily manipulated by a woman claiming to have repented. Myra's reactions when her parole was denied was to revert to tantrums and anger. She was only ever interested in her own pleasure, and Brady.

I grew up an hour or so away from Saddleworth Moor in the 70s and 80s. These people were absolutely hated beyond words. There is no doubt in my mind that Myra was present and helped Ian with every single one of these murders. He had nothing to prove to her, only himself, yet she had everything to prove to him because she wanted every fibre of him to adore her the way she adored him. There is no way she stood back and let him get on with it...she needed to prove to him that she was like him and their minds/way of thinking, were at one with each other.
Another case which would be amazing to see you cover is the Fred and Rose West Case. These were a deranged, married couple from the west country, UK, who killed many young women (including their own daughter) over decades and buried the bodies in the garden, basement and walls of their home.

Have you ever thought about handling the English case of “Mary Bell” arguably the/one of the most famous cases ever in the United Kingdom. Little girl 10 years of age murdered two young boys.
Everyone is extremely passionate about the case in the UK. Especially my family. My mother recalls what it was like moving into the town where it happened days after she was arrested and it was just so desolate.
She was the neighbour of one of the victims mother, and described a talk that went down between her And the mother where she told my mother, “When he was killed, she showed up at my home, we had his body in the casket for a home wake, and she wanted to see the body very badly. I sent her away,”
Days later the girl is convicted for that very murder. The mothers were so incredibly strong. I had several family members living there at the time, Mary Bell approached several of them. It’s an extremely interesting case about psychology, and the Justice system.
There were lots of debates about how to punish such a young, manipulative little girl. I remember a few different cases that stick with me, and that one always will. If you mention her name in England, trust me, you’ll start quite a big rant/discussion.

Mary Bell is such a fascinating and disturbing case at the same time. What do you do when a child that age kills, and when she's so obviously been badly abused herself? I'm not sure if there's a good answer there.

@@neuralmute exactly. I've had many debates, ask my family they'll call her every name under the sun, angrily. People have revealed her location several times.
Then there are others who point out the brain damage could have very well triggered something, as well as strangulation, could have been very normal to this girl (who very well could have been strangled herself or see it, and identified it with positive feelings of love)) but at the same time she always struck me as a genius and very manipulative, and purposely obsessed with death 🤔
I think cases that really get you thinking, and debating about moral dilemmas, are some of the most interesting.
And it once again begs the question: evil, born or made?

    • @neuralmute
      @neuralmute Před 5 lety +12

@@orangesngrievers461 In this case, likely a sad combination of nature and nurture. The poor kid had grown up with such brutality as a normal part of her life; she likely had neurological abnormalities too, simply from the amount of unusual stress she was under and trauma she lived with. That stuff has been proven to affect children's brains physically as well, and not for the better.
Of course, being a child, she'd also be much more likely to actually be capable of rehabilitation, as her nervous system was only half-grown. Nothing was *fully* hardwired yet, and there was a chance that she might have still developed a capacity for real empathy. I'm not sure if she ever actually did, but I hope so.

Myra responded by telling her to shut up, and I think (but can’t remember for sure) she is also heard manhandling the girl.
The recording was played in court and some of those in court rushed out to be sick. I hate how some people and documentaries try to paint Myra as being an unwilling, forced accomplice, and attempt to generate sympathy for her. She was as sick as Brady - she wanted to please him in any way possible. She procured the kids, knowing full well what would happen to them. You have to question, if Brady had other girlfriends, then why was it only with Myra and not the other girls that he could go out and kill kids?

I remember seeing an interview with Keith's mum on a documentary- she seemed lovely and clearly still loved her little boy decades later, like he'd gone missing just the day before, despite never finding his body. She and Keith are definitely the two people who I try to keep in my mind over those murderers.

I always come out of your videos feeling like there's so much more to these cases than I ever would've known. Watching people reciting a Wikipedia article verbatim gets pretty old and repetitive very quickly. The time, effort, compassion and true empathy for the victims is such a breath of fresh air. You humanize them in a way no one does, people forget that these were real human beings with a life, not a body count or a statistic. The research you put into these videos is absolutely phenomenal. I just want to say how much I and I'm sure many others appreciate all your hard work! Keep on doing what you're doing! You're amazing! ♥️

April Rants I have mixed feelings. I do believe she helped Ian much more then she said. I do believe she killed just to make Ian happy, and I say this because I can relate to that. My ex would make me do everything he ever asked, so I can believe what she said about doing it to make him happy. Now call me crazy, but I aint killing innocent kids to make a man happy, but I think it stimmed from her ‘daddy issues’ with the way Ian and her father sound the same. If she couldnt have her dads aproval she would get Ians. I think she helped with the murder, I dont know if she enjoyed the first one but after that she seemed much more ok with the idea.

Omg yes! This was the first case that got me into true crime when I was 15 after listening to a Smiths song about it. I researched it myself at the time which I kind of regret since it was graphic but nowadays I have CZcamsrs like yourself that research and present these cases so well! Thank you 💕

Oh blimey!...Thank you for covering this heinous case.......Its true, this case got into the psych of the British public and as children we were all warned not to talk to strangers but we were never told why, years later I read many books, written by Policemen, reporters and others involved in the case, I couldn’t believe how vile this pair were and now understand why all of our parents were so worried. Thanks for diving deep into this case Steph, you are so good at finding out all the salient details and pulling the case together. 🙋🏽👍🏽💛

I love how you provide the back stories for the victims. The way you share it, while more heartbreaking, allows to see them as more than just victims, but people that were loved, lost and missed dearly.

Your research is impeccable. You also look so eerily similar to my first wife that was killed in an auto accident while I was deployed in the USMC. A beautiful soul inside and out. From the glasses, the demeanor and beautiful natural look, I can tell you are a warm hearted beautiful person. My 37 yr old son looks like his Mom, and hence, a lot like you. God bless.

"Myra was a pleasant looking girl" ummm, no. I vehemently disagree! Then add the path she took, and I'd have to flat out say, she's EVERY bit the hideous monster on the OUTSIDE that she is on the inside 😠😠😠
