That mother was horrible. The part about ripping wings off a butterfly to make Natalie cry at just 4 years old?! Breaks my heart😞
Agree babe. Totally and couldn't have said it better.
I know what's wrong with some parents/caretakers? I dont understand & frankly, I dont want to 😌 My heart goes out of every child mistreated & every adult who is still affected by their childhood 💜
Michele Slepski evil woman God will make her pay for what she did to her daughter
Right. Also, telling her the next time she needed to cry to “remember watching her dog get hit by a car”. What a sick f*cking woman. I cant.
What a fucking monster Maria was! Psychopath!
I knew nothing about her abusive mother and her traumatic upbringing... Thank you so much for telling her story, Stephanie.
I feel so sorry for everyone raised by a narcissictic parent.
I do too. I wish every child was well loved, but sadly that isn't always the case. 💔
Yeah, add on top drug addict/alcoholic and it was terribly traumatic for me growing up. I'm 32 and still in counseling and getting help from a doc to stay clean with meds. It's been really rough but I've come along way that's for sure.
Jessica Wilson I am truly sorry, Jessica. Please always remember how strong you are - much stronger than most people. I wish you well. 💜
Raised by a narcissistic mother right here 🙋🏻♀️ I was lucky enough to have years of counseling to help me heal and be “normal” and healthy now as an adult. I wish others were as lucky as me. It’s a sad and lonely life before healing, dealing with the repercussions of such trauma.
Viktória Gál I didn’t either
I feel so deeply for Olga. I'm sure she made her own happiness, without her pathological liar of a mother.
She sure did :(
HelMaschine I agree Olga made out
Olga was probably luckier than Natalie, all things considered.
You probably don't remember even posting this comment, but Olga lived a good long life and passed away surrounded by her family.
Yes, I feel sorry for her too, actually, obviously, all of them.
"She was a liar. And a bad mother. And a bad person."
Yeah that pretty much sums it up!
One of my cats is named Catalie Wood
bryanna helton that is unbelievably amazing. I love me a good cat name pun 😃🤣
😂😂😂
And here we thought we were clever having a husky named Everest! Lol considering my daughter was 4 when she named her, I must say it's still cool but Catalie Wood? Freaking amazeballs 😂😂
I had a cat called cefer, like c for cat. And a rabbit called Arthur, like r for rabbit. But I love caterlie wood😆
@@fairychangeling8337 Oh I like "Caterlie" instead of "Catalie" lol I love your cat & rabbits names! My daughter has been wanting a bunny but with a cat & 2 large Huskies it isnt a good idea.
I love how you focus more on these peoples lives than death and you give so much detail that I feel like I know them personally something a lot of other crime youtubers can't do keep doing what your doing stephanie!!
Danielle Kurkeli thank you!!!
You should do Marilyn Monroe next!! So much info is out there and her murder and story is crazy and sad.
:( I know
What’s needed to know she was a forced sexual prostitution her house was rigged w cameras the entire house they found all that in ceiling recording everything
She was a presidential sex slave and forced into it w anyone who would call the house she had to go sleep w that person
That’s her story
Used abused discarded
And when too old got rid of her the end. Standard nowadays she was just the first as you know of
I believe Bobby Kennedy and Peter Lawford killed her. I loved Bobby so its hard for me to say this.
@@shanad4975 Damn, what rabbit hole did you go down?
@@shanad4975 Mary, save our women.
Whenever I hear about Natalie's mom, I get so angry... That poor girl...
I had no idea, that this was what her life was like.
The seeds a mother plants into a child’s mind at young age. Unfortunately for us all, the roots grow deep.
I hadn't realized it either. It's tragic. I feel so heartbroken for that poor little girl she was.
That same plant created a life time of actors in her family there after. Pros and cons? Awful for sure.
@@YourGlamorousLatina No. Having a lifetime of actors (whatever the hell that means) is not worth the price of torturing a young child. Fuck fame. Fuck acting. Fuck a "family" like this. Those kids should have been taken away from her.
????🤔
Mine was my father, I'm not famous (well only minorly famous) but I survived and now I take control of my life and have done for a long time
It was a long journey, it took a long time, but I made it............some like me never made it
The photo captioned: “Maria: Watching Her Meal Ticket Like A Hawk” omfg 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂 I love Stephanie
Except it isn’t funny
Yes!!I was laughing so hard and it felt so wrong.
That caption was unnecessary and one of the reasons I am starting to go off her videos. I want facts. Not biased opinion.
@@SweepSings Biased? It's facts and if you don't want an opinion then don't watch videos made by real people. Go read Natalie's story from an informational piece, the autobiography written by someone who's only job is to report facts.
Stephanie put a lot of work into this and she can say whatever she wants of this mother or anyone she talks about on Her own videos.
It breaks my heart knowing how hard her mother pushed her. Her childhood stolen, and all of it lead her to her murder. That "mother" treated Natasha like a pay check. not her baby girl.
“A little girl silenced before she even found her voice”
*I'm truly annoyed and disturbed by Maria's behavior towards her own daughter(s); what's even more disturbing is knowing that this is still going on today and all for fame.*
_I wonder if Maria has ever tried to make _*_excuses_*_ for her behavior._
Mama.Irish This makes me think so much about a girl I grew up with.... her mother always had her in commercial and dance competitions and pageants... this girl had trouble hanging out with us other kids, and this continued into high school and beyond. Today she’s famous in her own way and works her life away in high power jobs, but inside she seems empty and forever trying to impress mommy....and mommy is only ever happy when daughter looks perfect and has the perfect looking life.
This really makes me wonder, what kind of childhood/ circumstances causes someone to be this kind of parent???? Clearly some kind of need for attention and status...... just interesting that the child gets pushed into the spotlight....
@@monicaolszewski that breaks my heart, sounds like she's living her mother's _dream._ 😔
To have your child be there but not actually be there and witness it, takes a certain type of monster.
She's got all the hallmarks of a narcissistic personality, so I doubt she ever made excuses, because in her mind, she never did anything wrong. If anyone questioned her, she would either charm them (if she wanted something from them) or cut them down and discard them (if they offered nothing). I mean, she's always right, right?
That is so sad about your friend. It's why I can't even with the show "Toddlers and Tiaras", because it's encouraging this kind of self-involved parenting. Unfortunately, this is a generational problem. Narcissistic parents breed narcissistic kids, who become narcissistic parents, ad infinitum. It takes some insight into yourself, and usually a loving adult in their life, to break the chains. Olga, by being the scapegoat in their family dynamic, was tragically the "lucky" one. It's the scapegoats who tend to escape the enmeshment and go on to live a freer life.
(Says a woman raised by a narcissistic mom, who was the scapegoat for her).
"Watching her meal ticket like a hawk" LOL. That's exactly what she looks like in that photo.
😂I didn't know how many people would catch that!
Robert Wagner definitely knows more about her death than he is letting on. Christopher Walken may know more too, because the boat wasn't that big.
The 3 men know.
Yes!! Wagner is a weird guy, I read his book, You Must Remember This, and he mentions Natalie only vaguely, totally talks around the subject and makes himself the victim in a bizarre manner. Dont trust that dude.
@@alexandrakennedy2000 They were all drunk. They probably really don't remember. What's more likely, you risk murdering your wife with witnesses present or she slipped, fell and couldn't swim. One makes zero sense with everything we know about humans and one is depressingly common...😕 if only her neurotic mother hadn't given her a fear of water, she would have been fine...
All three are implicated in her murder they get to go on with their lives none the worse for wear while she is merely a footnote of Hollywood's golden age.
@@andrewforte3852 I thought that too until I watched Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind on HBO. I highly suggest watching it. It changed my thoughts completely. And you get to see her daughter interviewing Robert Wagner. It's a very personal up close look at how close their family was and any suspicion will melt away. Jmho

Wow! Thank you for choosing Natalie Wood! Always been fascinated with her tragic story. Nobody has ever covered her life as thoroughly as you. Nor told it with so much compassion. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Yes!!
How many people sat there filming that child breaking her wrist and almost drowning?
I'm so glad you are covering Natalie wood! It is one that has always interested me! Thank you so much!!!
your hair is so pretty!!! this video was well made! Can't wait for part 2.
Literally Rei I bet it’s wavy from being in braids! :)
Yes very clasic look:)
This was very interesting. I never knew about Natalie Wood’s early years. Hearing what her mother put her through breaks my heart. You’re my favorite mystery crime channel! I love how thorough you explain everything. Looking forward to Part 2 💕
I wonder how much Natasha ended up resenting her mother
@philbyification Natalie grew up developing a very volatile temper. Once she became an adult, she knew the tables could be turned and she turned them on her mother. The mother basically became afraid of angering Natalie, especially when she started grooming Lana and Natalie threw down the gauntlet.
"Allegedly..
Supposedly..
Don't come for me..
I'm not accusing anybody..🙄"
👏🏼😂 LOVE IT!!!

Did anyone else's Monday just get better?! :)

Wasn't drawn to your storytime...gave it a chance and now I'm hooked. Your a good story teller. I can't imagine the research involved in this venture. ❣️
Thank you! I"m glad you liked it.
I've never thought her death seemed accidental. I'm so glad you covered this story!! 😍
She was murdered plain and simple. It's a cold case that may never be solved. R. J. will take it to his grave.
I was about to go to bed.
I had just put my daughter down and was ready for an early night. And then I got the notification.
So I got me some tea 😂
OMG I hate her mom, Maria!!!

“Title text here” lol
Love the video Stephanie, I’m amazed how you find all these interesting stories
I was wondering if anyone was going to comment about that!!
Maya Shuler same lmao
Fluent Russian speaker here, you did very well with the pronunciation:) Btw I did not know Natalie Wood was from Russian origin, so thanks
I was two when Natalie died, and one of my earliest memories is of my parents speculating about what had happened. They never believed her death was accidental, nor do I. What I didn't know, however, was that her mother was so abusive and domineering. I'm an animal lover myself, and I can't imagine having someone (especially a parent!) pull the wings off a butterfly in order to make a child cry. Something like that would traumatize me now, let alone when I was a child!
MYSTERY MONDAY IS BAAAAAAAACK!!! Im so happy Steph thank you!!!! I am glad its monday now
I agree. I'm back watching. Excited
I can sense a self-fulfilling prophecy emerging 😔 If someone becomes so scared of dark water and then happens to fall into water, the panic itself could cause their death rather than a rational “learn to swim” or “learn to survive” mentality
I have always thought it was awful how she kind of knew that she would drown and was scared of the water. Her death was so mysterious. I believe she was murdered honestly !
So glad you covered this one ! : )
My mother was named after Natalie, she passed on my mothers 9th birthday and my oma worried it was bad luck. Then years later when my mother was pregnant with me she bought a book about Natalie and when she started reading she saw her being called Natasha, she already knew that was her birth name but it made her think about how much she liked it and so I was named natasha. I will never understand how Hollywood moved on from this like it was nothing, I hope one day we know what really went down.
I've always been obsessed with old Hollywood! I'm so excited for this lil mini series. Thank you, as always, for the great content!
I did not want this one to end!!! I remember very well when she drowned. I adored her. I had no idea about her childhood. Bless her sweet heart.
Yay! I have a longtime obsession with this tragic story. Excited to hear your take on it.
Pamela Updike, likewise! 😊
I do too! I watched all of Natalie Woods movies over and over again ... Have always adored Natalie , and even named my 2 nd daughter , third child after her. She was so beautiful and had such lovely ,perfect features .❤️ My personal favorite was Love with the Proper Stranger with Steve McQueen, who I also adored all my life. My 2nd favorite is Splendor in The Grass ... so poignant, esp the ending which I cry at every time I watch it.😢
Her Mom's sun sign was an Aquarius, her dad's was a Scorpio, and Natalie was a Cancer. This families story is such a great example of the shadow archetypes within Astrology. Will have to look deeper at their dynamics. Especially, this fear of water in her mother's chart. Great video Stephanie! 🤩
Love your videos!❤️ Maybe for your next idea you could do Marilyn Monroe?!? 💁🏼♀️
Yes, please!
Your shirt ironically fits this video. Thank you for a great Monday!
Me a 22 year old the idea of dating a 13 year old makes me want to hurl! And if I were to date a 21 year old at 13 my mom would’ve FLIPPED! Such a tragic story. May she rest in piece.
I always loved West Side Story as a kid and my mom was always told when she was younger she looked like Natalie Wood so my mom and I have talked here and there about Woods death. Never knew all this. Thanks Stephanie ❤
im so glad you uploaded! I really needed the distraction today and you calm me down so much when my anxiety acts up. thank you 💕
Same here!!!! I have bad anxiety and went ALL day without realizing it until about 4pm in the evening that I hadn't taken my anxiety meds because I had been binge watching her videos!!!! Crazy how comforting she is to listen to especially since she's talking about some horrific crime!
I don’t know her story so I’m pretty excited to hear what happens next! “Allegedly, supposedly, don’t come for me, not accusing anyone!” Too funny 🤣 Great video❣️
i've been so interested in natalie wood's case for so long but i've not been able to find a detailed, concise video about it that i liked. im super excited to watch this, i know you wont let me down!
As a mom, this must have been difficult for Stephanie to make. I find it hard to listen to the details of this vile mother's abuse of all of her children. It seems like the sisters genuinely cared about each other despite their twisted mother's behaviour which could easily have driven a wedge between them.
I was a child when she died but I remember reading everything I could on her death back then. Of course there was only tabloids like the Enquirer or Star so I never what was true. She reminded me so much of my aunt. Just with this one video, I have learned so many interesting things about her family and childhood. I knew she had a fear of water but never knew this had been ingrained in her by her mother and why. Love your in depth studies and love hearing your voice telling the story. Been around for a while and love to see that everyone is finding your channel and you are growing so much! Congrats!!
In addition to the thoroughness in your research and investigation, I enjoy your delivery. It's like you tell an interesting story; you even interject an occasional personal opinion that adds a little extra flavor...thank you, so much for all of your hard work.
Loving that you covered Natalie Wood. This is a case that CZcamsrs rarely cover and it's really shocking that it was never "solved". 🧐
Okay so, this comment has been a long time coming but this video finally inspired me to write it! I was born in and live in Santa Rosa, CA which perked my long time interest in the Natalie Wood case and I am so, so excited that you have decided to cover it and am looking forward to every installment. I can't get enough of your videos. I watch A LOT of true crime shows and youtubers alike and you are my favorite for a very good reason. As much information that I have learned about all of the cases you've covered through other mediums, you ALWAYS manage to teach me something brand new that I had never heard before. The way you present all of your information is so engaging and the depth of your research is the best I've seen, I LOVE that your videos are as long as they are. I have to admit that I have a small pet peeve with 15 minute videos on very detailed cases. When I want to know something, I want to know everything, you know? Anyway! I really could go on but I'll spare you from it. Thank you so much for your videos, Stephanie, I'm so grateful for them. xo

I was named after Natalie Wood. My dad spent alot of his time on Hollywood sets with his brother doing extra parts. My dad was "boy in bed" on a Dr show. Lol
He said Natalie was such a beautiful person and very kind to him.
I had no idea Natalie had such a “childhood,” if we can even call it that! I grew up knowing my dad was really upset about what happened in her mysterious death, and I know more has recently come out about that. Really changes my perspective about my guilty pleasure movies, Austin Powers et al.
That poor child. What a difficult way to grow up, with so much pressure and psychological abuse. Thanks for covering this!

Very glad you decided to do a bio on the late great Natalie Wood.
Hope you cover the incident/attack that happened to young Natalie at a hotel when her mother drove her to meet a very influential and older actor (K.D.) at a hotel to discuss a part. Many believe the rape to be true and some deny it happened. Her sister Lana on the podcast Fatal Voyage explained Natalie was still too young to drive and her mother took her. Lana also rode along.
Poor Natalie was ravaged and her mother didn't want her to "complain" or "make trouble" since she might get a reputation for being a trouble maker.
Natalie Wood was used and manipulated by people who were supposed to love and care for her.
A very sad life for such a lovely and caring person.
Let's not spoil the rest of the parts, lol
I believe it happened. He's gross.
Oh I believe it. Iv heard it for years, her mother brought her to hospital but when the suggestion of police be called she made them up and leave. That mother was a sick witch.
