  • During his scientific training at the University of Ottowa, Russell Taylor utilized glassblowing techniques to perform protein cross-linking experiments. He was awarded a doctorate of dental medicine from the McGill University in 2009 and is particularly interested lithium disilicate and borosilicate restorative materials. Now living and working in San Francisco, Dr. Taylor enjoys creating artistically functional glass objects in his spare time.

It's interesting to watch. There was a place in a Mall near my home where you could watch someone make Glass ornaments. The used an oxy propane touch. All sorts of things had been made.
Boron is a very interesting element and tiny amounts of it are required by plant life. I saw a demonstration where some corn plants were grown from korn kernels by hydroponics. Each jar had one element missing. The one missing boron had the plants with sores around the root level. The plants were dying because they lacked a tiny amount of boron. I've seen a lot of houseplants die that way. Only use a very small amount such as a drop of boric acid in a whole watering container.

This is a poor demonstration by the host; the glass artist should have done all the talking.
