Kudos to Anne Priestland who researched and wrote this 6 part series. Incredible work, could be turned into a book.
Five hours in total and not a minute of padding! So well done.
Bravo🎉CaseFiles. You all do such fantastic work covering this case and many others. Absolutely well done.👍🙏🏼
This is a brilliant podcast…. just listened again . Congratulations on your research and presentation.
I like the way you refer to the women as survivors rather than victims
A survivor is a victim who survives.
No! It’s completely different from a psychological perspective. A survivor has power and strength, a victim does not.
@@GeorgiaReid-hh7zmNO! They didn't "survive" they were spared! A big difference! They were victims who were spared! They did not fight like a cancer survivor or any other form of survivor. They just laid there and took it. The men and the women. All victims.
@@Nebula_Ultra To overcome IS to fight, to survive and come out the other side IS NOT just lying there and 'taking it'. There are many ways to fight, it is physical and psychological. You do what you need to do in order to face another day. To suggest they just lay there suggests passive compliance when every ounce of their being would have been railing against the injustice that was being perpetrated against them. Many of these women were protecting their children and were terrified of what might happen if they didn't comply.
There are Male victims too and Brian and Katie were shot dead. They didn't survive yet they're still victims.
Unbelievably well done. Favourite podcast. Takes us through the story like am right there. By the way your voice makes it even better
I wish each case was done exactly like this, huge parts hours long. That's my kinda jam right there. I know it's not possible each time but its damn good like this. Very thorough.
By far the most thorough telling of the earons saga, thanks for uploading
Thanks Paddy
Great podcast all the series is captivating
This entire process is outstanding. The researchers and writers did a fantastic job, the narrator did amazing and had depth and feeling. And the facts. The facts are most important and I love that this whole case file is structured the way it is. This is the best I've heard in a long time, the content is horrifying and terrible but you get the job done with class and facts and I applaud this channel. Woo.
Agreed
And your comment is perfect!
You have an amazing voice. I don't have a diagnosis but I believe I have some form of auditory processing disorder and the way people speak, their voice really makes a difference in order for me, my brain to be able to absorb and process what they are saying. And accent/ pronunciation is very nice too.
A very professional job done on this podcast. Thanks.
You would've thought that in a country where there is the right to bare arms, that someone would've got a shot off at some point.
Not to mention just sleeping through all the breaking and entering.
I wish we could go deeper into each case individually. Nice
Good stuff guys
Brilliant storytelling
I love the couple who were mentally preparing for this, and actually went through with their plan when the attack happened. Had the husband beaten the shit out of the guy, or had the police arrived earlier, they would be considered heroes now. They're still heroes in my book.
So they did all their prep but didn't think to bring a knife, gun or baseball bat into the equation?🤦🏽
@@markkofi8522 I don't think we know if they did. Even if he had a weapon, that wouldn't change the fact that they both completely froze and just stared each other out of sheer shock.
@@norbicsek I know that it's easy for me to sit here and talk.
But in a country where there's the right to have guns, I'm very surprised that no one was able to hold him at gunpoint during this time.
@@markkofi8522 You could've stopped at the first sentence. It is indeed easy to sit and talk.
All of this happened in California, one of the least gun-savvy states to this day, and this was in the '70s, when people still thought it was a good idea to leave their doors unlocked for the night. But then again, it's not entirely unlikely that some of these people did actually have either a firearm, or something else to protect themselves with, they just didn't use them, because adrenaline is one hell of a drug. Remember that the one person who did in fact have a gun for sure, was the rapist, and he still didn't use it in this one instance, where it would've served him better than ever. Turns out we're not the most rational beings when we're in a state of shock.
Also if they did have a gun in their house, the rapist had already taken the ammunition out of the gun and moved the gun to another location, he did that multiple times. One time he put the gun under the couch and lined the bullets up in a row under the bed. He was always in their houses preparing for the eventual break in. So even if you had a gun, chances are, he already moved it before he woke them up.
Great podcast
I can’t understand how he could continue his reign of terror without impunity!!!
This was so scary to listen to
Interesting that "Snelling" seems to be named in the notebook.
Edit: I know it's easier said than done, but it's a pity the husband in the last story didn't put him in a choke-hold until the cops could show up.
How the hell did he manage to get away with all of this for so long, so prolific as well
contra costa county. bit of a tongue twister. lol
Im looking for Part 5. Is there one ?
Yep--part 5 is the last part. Its up here on CZcams. On their channel or just use search bar
I'm starting to wonder if this was done after he was caught or before , I would think after but I guess I'll have to wait till the end to find out.
Before he was caught.
It’s infuriating that the last husband literally had him trapped with police on the way and LET HIM ESCAPE
Exactly. They did all their prep but didn't think to bring a knife, gun or baseball bat into the equation?🤦🏽
48:19 Lady had a real good look at him.
Sounds too me like there are 2 suspects in this..
Was that paul holes?
Could the “homework” notebook been picked up from the house of an unreported rape or just from a random breakin or earlier ransacking ?
Absolutely -- or it might have been dropped by someone else. It wasn't even that close the crime scene (haven't listened to this yet, so maybe that fact is mentioned here).
Why the conversation? He should've fired on his A!
No home security systems! Ever either
I'm not sure what kind of security systems they had in the 70s but I would imagine it wasnt the best.
Military provides map reading, etc.

Why are only female victims 'survivors'? Can't you imagine the trauma of the WHOLE family, the men women and children when this sadistic attacker came into their homes? Please either be clinical like Larry Crompton and call them 'victims' which is most correct, or call them ALL 'survivors'. This modern parlance to call only rape victims 'survivors' is really demeaning to the other traumatised family members as well as women who have, against the odds, fought off serial killers which has happened. Aside from that inappropriate use of the term 'survivor' which is really grating, this is an exceptionally good podcast
15:11 I like this part👍
If notebook was bought used or found then handwriting not perp. Evidence of “staging” or misdirection?
***IF*** JJD dropped it, it was most definitely a red herring.
Could the notebook 📒 have come from a garage or estate sale? Also a great place to buy a ski mask. Untraceable and contains someone else’s fingerprints
If bought used then handwriting is not the perpetrator. Dropped on purpose further misdirection and “staging “ .
Idiot
Mr mrmojorisin
Part 4 and 6 are brilliant 👏 This ep had me spooked
There's a part 6 ????
I can't even find part 5.
@@marinamartens1334 Yes! I know it's hard to find the other parts bc they changed the name.
I think the title goes from EARONS to the Golden State Killer in the last yes eps. Highly recommend!
@@marinamartens1334 look for case 53 part 5, you can easily find it in their video lists, and it pops up when searched
Calling the victims "survivors" is wildly inaccurate and misleading, in a forced attempt to make victims sound more "empowered" than what they actually are in these situations. As if it was a shame to be a victim in such cases. A survivor is someone who stays alive by being pro-active, something those victims cannot be, being tied up at gun point and at the mercy of their assailant, is the definition of powerless. Also the act of surviving doesn't necessarily involve danger from a third party. The reason the victims survived is because they were spared, unlike Brian and Katie who were shot dead because they saw the culprit's face. They can't be called "survivors" since they are dead. Yet they are victims. In addition, he would become a serial murderer, another reason not to refer to his victims as survivors.
After he killed Brian and Katie that was it and no turning back ,they should have known he would become a serial killer.
>>"Brian and Katie who were shot dead because they saw the culprit's face. They can't be called "survivors" since they are dead."
and the victims who didn't die can accurately be called survivors. because they survived. works both ways. rather than post long-winded screeds in multiple comments on this video trying to downplay & deny the agency and fortitude of survivors of a horrific, nearly 50-year-old case, it might be more productive to look in the mirror and ruminate on why you might feel so compelled to do that in the first place.
Sounds too me like there are 2 suspects in this..
