- DESCRIPTION
[Part 1 of 3]
The Silk Road was an ancient network of trade routes that started in China in the 2nd century B.C. Via a combination of roads, and sea routes, goods like silk, paper and spices were transported from the producers in Asia to markets in Europe. Eventually, it wasn’t just goods that were traded - there were also ideas, customs, religions and even diseases…

This was awesome 3-part series and so well researched.
Oddly I couldn’t get into this episode the first few times I started them. However, after 2 rainy days I’ve sat through all 3 parts and found it absolutely mesmerizing and informative. Well done

This 3-parter is so incredibly thrilling, well-presented, suspenseful, exciting... I agree with commenters on part 3 that this is my favorite bit of podcasting, ever. It's seriously like watching an incredible movie, or reading a novel. Excellent research, excellent narrating! The whole team really knocked it out of the park with this one.
Good research and voice !
If you enjoy this you should listen to the missing crypto queen. Similar vibes and very addictive listening 👌
@@cameron4994 Thank you!!! I would love to listen to more stuff like this, appreciate the recommendation!
@@srahhh you won't regret it, I was captivated listening to it as it unfolded, I still think about it to this day!
Lol⚾️
I love these shows I listen to them every night
New evidence suggests the first plague bacillus ever have been founding Switzerland where is remained dormant until the temperature changed and it began to migrate. I'll try and find the article again and share it with you. Thankyou for your show. Very interesting and informative.
Before I listen, may I compliment the person who creates the background sounds/tones- whatever. Thank you.
You may.
How you gonna have an ad in the middle of advertising yourself lmao
OMGOODNESS 🙀 THIS is RiVITiNG 🔥
The silkroad is such a scary concept
I think tor is worse
Not at all
Anyone can download the onion browser and take a look. Don't fear the unknown
This case file is as good as the book American king if not better
Agreed
One thing I really wanted to know that was not addressed is the dread pirate Roberts still dressing in rags or has he went to baller status since he started making bank
He's wearing mostly government-issued khakis now.
Anyone else cheer when Julia said "me or Silk Road" and Ross chose Silk Road 😂
Yep I had a similar experience. My then ex gf said your hobby or me... So 5 minutes later I purchased $500 things for my hobby.
Luckily I did it because she has become such a hypochondriac and jealous if any else gets attention. Her father who I'm still friends with recently has been diagnosed with lung cancer and she is actually acting jealous lol
Well, if he had just chose her and had abandoned his project, we would have never had any of this but he would have retained his life and freedom up to this day. Instead, we would now have another story in how underground marketplaces for drugs had came out, and Ross would be laughing at that story since he knows he had been there first before but decided to take it down at the proper time.
Also, Ross was an entrepreneur who have had invested a great amount of time, effort and work to help him succeed at creating the code for the website and then at launching it with an innovative model of business behind it. It isn't surprising at all which path he would have retained. Probably I'll have done the same thing (if I didn't know my nearest future was prison for life).
Yep. He made his choice. Sometimes it's not always about the woman (or man).
This is the reason why I never let my girlfriend know what I do with my free time.
Yeah letting your girl know that you are seeing other women in your spare time never ends well 😝😝😝
Meanwhile the streets are flooded with much worse drugs
And our friend alcohol keeps on trucking
What boomers. Drugs aren't the real problem, it's crime around it that is.
I'm not a Lobertarian but I do believe drugs should be legalised. Before one jumps up and down, remember alcohol is a drug, is legal and most people don't decide to get wasted everyday
1 in 12 adult men are alcoholics....So your argument sucks. Considering hard drugs are much more addictive than hard drink
@@scratchking3205 lol what has your reply got anything to do with my comment?
@@PoetofHateSpeech it has everything to do with your comment
@@scratchking3205 how many people do you think use drugs?
They are legalised. The manufacturers are Big Pharma, the pushers are the doctors and the addicts are Joe Public.
Money talks, eh Ross? So much for Libertarianism.
Skip ahead a few minutes to get to the start. Immediately “LIBERTARIANISM IS THE BELIEF THAT…” and NOPED out
Does anyone know who the dude running this podcast is.
He is anonymous

Yer father
250k in Bitcoin when it was worth less than $10 per coin.. now 1 bitcoin is over $50k. I hope tony76 didn’t cash it all in, or else his buyers weren’t the only ones who got robbed of a fortune 😂😂😂
How ironic
The U.S government stole most of that tech too .
So much for being a libertarian;greed overtook him
Lobertarian's aren't against making money, in fact some take it to the extreme including thinking that kids should be able to sell themselves to paedophiles.
What they are against is paying taxes, and having any government control
It's like listening to the tale of a 21st century Andrew Ryan.
Ayn Rand
Ha ha ha chuck Schumer is an abyss of hypocrisy
