Dont put your "stick" in crazy...
Oh my goodnes, i saw pictures of the psycho woman who did this, i dont know what Mark saw in her, i mean, I'm no Barbie, but i at least have a kind heart and would never mistreat anyone.... poor Mark. Im not a believer in euthanasia, i have mixed feelings about it, but i don't know what I'd do if I was in his situation. RIP Mark 😢
This is the first Casefile episode that has really really hurt me and made me cry. I have been emotionally messed up and its made me look at life very differently. I couldnt believe what Mark had to suffer through, and his father. This is terrifying and heartbreaking.
This town sounds ridiculously scary. No one reports anything.
What an absolute travesty! May both victims rest in peace.
Effin jury try to appear as intellectuals. "Ackshually this was not murder because she could not have predicted the future and thus the link is broken" and I say "stfu she knew exactly what she was doing, she researched it beforehand and also did u want for Mark to suffer another 6-12 months before he passed from something else that her actions caused just to keep your effin stupid legal link alive??"
Reminder that she was black
That poor poor mother... I can't even fathom the hopelessness she felt losing her baby and having the finger pointed at her for all those years.
I can see how this story ended up on Casefile. Maxina, although not the murderer of the twins, still deserves no mother of the year award, either. The police did their job properly with this one, but the justice system failed anyway because those babies' murders went unavenged and someone the police suspected got away with murder. It's clear the father resented being stuck at home all the time taking care of those two infants then took his frustration out on them, and his behavior strongly suggests this. He sure got lucky.
That judge is a psychotic fool
The verdict would have been a lot different in the United States. Wow, only two cases have ever made me cry and this was one. So sad.
I wonder what the jury's verdict would have been had the roles been reversed... RIP Mark van Dongen. May you be be now at peace, free from pain.
Damn, well that story went south real quick! 😳💀
Very unwise idea in the beginning. Where I live, I've become disorientated, with the weather changing in a few minutes, so somewhere hostile and not knowing the area, I just think it's misadventure, no evidence for any third party. Terrible for the families.
I burned myself in an accident with acid few years ago, and listening to this was a huge mistake. I think im having a panic attack.
I am always excited on the weekends, because I know you're releasing a new episode - and so I can play to fall asleep to. But this one just made me feel all kinds of things - I ended up being more awake at the end. RIP Mark, you were definitely too good for this world.
I hate victim blaming BUT..... She met him when he was in jail for crimes against women. Was so embarrassed by that fact she hid it from her family.
🇬🇧 So terrible! That one person could inflict so much damage & pain on another. Mark should have taken photos of his wounds, inflicted during their relationship. His skin gouges, tears & deep scratches. With each photo date stamped. These photos could have been brought as evidence against Berlina at her trial. This would prove her violent nature & therefore she was a threat to others if she set her sights on them. I'm so sorry for Mark & his family & his girlfriend Violet, she was robbed of a life with Mark. It's a blessing she wasn't also in the sights of the psychopath Berlina because I'm sure if it entered her head to destroy another life, she would. I hope she's never released, for the sake of her future victims, & Marks family knowing this abomination is free. Thank You, Casefiles A horrendous case indeed. Peace & Blessings to All 🇬🇧🙋
I actually believed this was a real narrator. But it’s AI.
It is a real narrator. Can vouch for him - He's Australian and I'm Australian too.
“September two”?
The tribe on Sentinal Island been there for 10000s of years and only appeox 150 living on the Island 🤭
Who wants to listen to this wtf
😨 Too many adverstisements, best crime channel though.
well, i think i found a new “worst nightmare” 😢
I’m a nurse getting a higher degree, and one of my classes right now is holistic care for older adults. Hearing that this was allowed to happen and just written off by administrators and agencies is so infuriating! This nursing home was a perfect textbook on what should never happen! This is why my mother will live with us when she’s not able to live alone anymore. This is my worst fear!
Horrific
She said: "If I can't have you, no one can!" Not "no one will want you", like the judge put it. Special in this case is the fact, that poor Mark's fate faltered before 2 unsympathetic females (police officer and judge) in the exact same way the fates of endless females in similar situations have in front of male ignoramuses. I can't help but wonder, though: WHY would he stay to sleep in her appartment?!?
Recent sub going through your vids. You are excellent at reporting these cases with truth and empathy. I am now watching the Karen Read trial in Massachusetts USA. WOW! The way the media can be used by the law enforcement and the prosecution has put a lot of people in jail. With the media against you it is more like you are guilty full stop. Thank you for always remembering the victims.
When you startedv the story of him " having to take care of her family in South Africa"...I knew exactly what kind of South African...you were talking about....behold I went to look... 💯 You have to live in SA to understand the evil ..

Excellent series as usual from Casefile. Thanks to the many kind Australians that give rides to these young travelers and turn in found items, that ended up being so important.
witch
Even a seasoned true crime listener once in a while thinks "I should have sit this one out", this is a level of horrible that no name is strong enough for.
holy.. poor mark man, that woman is absolutely disgusting… the last 15 months of that man’s life was literal torture.. and those care takers.. leaving him helpless and unable to take care of himself, what possesses a person to not have enough empathy to do at least the bare minimum.. praying for him
This has got to be one of the most shocking episodes, for me. My jaw fell to the ground when you told the jury's verdict. Unbelievable. Poor, poor Mark and his father. 😢
Psychopaths and narcissists zone in on empathetic people like Mark. Kind thoughtful people like Mark will give the benefit of the doubt and give others more chances because they understand that humans make mistakes. Those with personality disorders leverage this to abuse and even murder. My heart broke when he didn't pay for a ticket to get that thing away from him. RIP Mark. What a loss for all who loved you and the world. We need kind and thoughtful people like him. That thing stole a gem from the world.
Cheating and lying and messing around with women is never a good idea.
Since she’d researched other acid attacks and the results of the acid attacks she researched was that the person being attacked ended up dying from their injuries, I find it hard to believe that she didn’t foresee his death as a possible outcome. Though if they were worried about how it would fly to charge her with murder given the way his life ultimately ended, I’m surprised they didn’t charge her with attempted murder.
Cheating never ends well
They did that young man no favors keeping him. Alive they tortured him
I have never yelled so listening to a crime. This was horrendous. This woman is a cruel murderer. Like his father says, "it defies belief."
Clearly, she was mentally unbalanced. That's not an excuse for her actions, but how/why was her behavior not noticed and stopped before it reached that extreme?
I take it that the 'care home' was closed immediately? 😢😢
*As a sufferer of chronic excruciating pain for the past eight years, I have only a hint of what Mark went through. His courage was inspirational. May he rest in peace.*
😢 how do you hold on?....may the force be with you!
fk dude, keep keeping on!
@@ildisiri We have no choice. Thanks.
Poor little innocent sweet Colleen rip angel 😇
Berlinah felt depressed, anxious, betrayed, angry: code for she missed having a compliant victim to her many abuses.
A murder? It was a prolonged horrific torture. She is an EVIL SICK POS.
There is a reason jealousy should never be tolerated or entertained. RIP Mark
If you ever have a significant other who has any behaviors like this woman did, please please please leave!
Thanks for the excellent video. No justice here. 12 years is absurd! The agony she caused mark is beyond measure. She caused his death. That's murder!
😪
