@Mr E hi, yes, I advice you to change crankshaft and camshaft sensors but DO NOT buy cheap sensors, change the crankshaft sensor and both camshaft sensors and you will be fine 😉

@@joaosantos9805 Hi :) I changed the Crankshaft sensor and that fixed the problem. After I changed it, the car needed some time to adjust to the new sensor but after 100 km. it was fine. Just make sure to buy a good sensor and not the cheapest one. Hope that helps and good luck.

@@shlakser I know this thread is old, but if you don’t mind I’d like to get some advice. I got a 2000 528i e39 from Germany and there is a p0340 code. The engine would stall if it idled for too long, but I never noticed any other issues. I managed ti replace the intake sensor on my own. The engine doesn’t stall anymore, but every once in a while, I basically lose power accelerating until I turn the car off and back on. I also seem to have an issue where the first time I turn the key, the engine will not start. I have to return the key to the neutral position and then turn the ignition again and bam it goes. I DID unfortunately buy a cheap sensor from Amazon. Any recommendations on what I should do/buy? Thank you for taking the time to read this :)

If you pull back the boot on the cam sensor you can see if the wires are frayed and shorting out. Usually most of the time is the case with old oem sensor.

Well that may explain why I'm not getting cam sensor codes but yes I do have the map cooling code. I also had a crank sensor code that went away after replacing but I still have the engine cutting out in the middle of nowhere. Leave it for a few minutes and it starts after a few crank no starts but the pattern is not really the same every time.

I just changed my crankshaft sensor! It coded as a 53 crankshaft signal problem and an a F4 segment timing disturbed checking with Creador 310.
I remove the fresh air box and elbow on the driver side!
It took about one hour for me R&R a new VDO OEM crankshaft sensor!
By removing the fresh air box and elbow it is actually good access!
Cleared the codes for test drove, no codes.

got the same code after replacing both sensors with new hella one. it was running fine before, but since months ago, my wife told me it shut off on her at a stop sign. It never happened when i drove, and i drive the car 10x as much as she did. but out of an abundance of caution i replaced them. now im getting intermitten hard starts and its cut out at low rpms a couple times. gonna put the old sensors back in and see.

Great video. Question though, after I replace the sensor is there anything I need to do? I ask because I replaced it and all seemed well for a couple days until i had another hard start and P0340 showed up as a new pending code. Code did go away later that night. Any advise would be welcome!

Hi Nathan, actually got a 535i m62 engine from 96’
One week ago I was driving when suddenly the car died, tried to restart it but it doesn’t.
It just crank but no start, I replaced both camshaft and crankshaft sensors, fuel pump and fuel filter and checked my pump fuse, still got the issue, I checked if fuel is coming until the injectors and yes it does.
No fault codes on the diag (maybe cause it doesn’t start so I can’t get error codes idk)
I’m stuck since 2 weeks now and the car doesn’t run, thinking of getting it to the dealership if you don’t have any advice..
    Thanks for your help
