This is why the Dark Side remains such a persistent problem. The Force touches *all* life, not just the Force-sensitives. But the galaxy is a place of brutality, not peace. So the Dark definitely has an overall edge against the Light.
not to put too fine a point to it, but "Peace is a lie"
@@Trylen "there is only passion"
Look, as long as humanoids don't destroy planets, or cause mass extinctions, or remove its life-generating features (e.g. if Coruscant used to have oceans), then the Force will let humanoids do what they please to each other. Heck, they can have a Death Star if it means destroying lifeless asteroids and rogue planets likely to collide with a life-giving planet.
Hm, 4 replies, yet only two are showing. CZcams is shit most of the time

Luke and Leia kissing without knowing they're siblings is messed up, but that was more Obi-Wan's fault than Anakin's. Lying to Luke that Anakin and Vader were two separate people was awkward enough, but not telling him Leia was his sister was a real dropping the ball moment. Hell, he could've kept the half-lie going by saying they were siblings, but separated after Anakin "died" to keep them safe and eventually train as Jedi!
After the ending of _The Empire Strikes Back_ we saw, Leia could have turned to Luke and said, "I don't want to sleep alone."

I'm just going to pray to God, or the Force, that didn't happen...
@John Morgan - Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it definitely happened. Dozens of times. At least.
Two siblings kissing without foreknowledge that they're siblings isn't that bad. Its just kind of embarrassing and awkward. I wouldn't even call it messed up. It's kind of funny actually. Ive heard that if from studies they've found that if you separate siblings from birth. They are more likely to be attracted to one another when they meet. I read it in an evolutionary psychology textbook.
I'm surprised that when you were doing number 10, you didn't mention Andor murdering that informant just because he wouldn't be able to escape.
That _really_ bothered me. I don't know if it was supposed to be a mercy killing or prevent leaks or what, but he did it so casually. This is supposed to be a good guy, and one of the first things we see him do is murder two stormtroopers and a scared informant.
@@samvimes9510 it was to protect information that was more valuable than their lives. I loved how rogue one showed how ruthless some of the rebel cells were in.
@@samvimes9510 To be fair, he had no choice. The guy couldn't climb out with him, so if he didn't do it, they would have both been killed and the information on the Death Star would have never reached Mon Mothma. It was meant to show that not everything the Rebels did was guilt free.
@@samvimes9510 Think of it like he was saved from the torture of the empire, it was a fast and merciful death.
That moment took me aback. It was the dirty and made you feel sorry for benefiting from the knowledge gained. Very good choice be the writer/director.
This is why I hate how people try to say Star Wars is for kids when it’s always been a more teenage audience rather than the so called toddler demographic. These dark themes really help to enhance the world and give a more lived in feel rather than the stereotypical “everything is fine and perfect” scenario
I dont know why People think star wars is for kids.I mean the title is literally "star wars" it is like it is about war or something...
Please, it has always been aimed at pre-teens. just because we grew up didnt change that intended audience. the toy lines, ewoks, holiday special, most of the animated series. all for pre-teens. now they have heavy themes but many kids shows do.
@@gigakubica8793 Mostly 'cause that's what Lucas himself keeps saying.
George Lucas himself stated Star Wars was always meant for kids. But it doesn’t mean that teens and adults can’t like it too
I agree! Star wars Is definitely at its best when it's dark and gritty!
Surprised you didn't mention the Clone Wars cartoon and the Jedi committing warcrimes like the Geneva Convention was a bucket list
Geneva won't even exist for a long time and in a completely different galaxy far, far away.
Anakin Skywalker: "Warcrime? What that? A new spice variant?"
Clone Wars be like: Geneva Convention, more like Geneva Suggestion.
It's only a war crime if you're on the loosing side. :P
The child Leia running scene could have been done in *heavy bushes* that completely obscure her and get in the face and physically block taller humanoids from getting through.
In the wild it's a common tactic of smaller animals fleeing larger predators to run into scrub that they can slip through far easier.
And on a alien planet setting up a area of vegetation ideally suited for a small child to run through while being a nightmare for a grown man to move through is "believable".
There could have even been a moment where Leia runs into one of the small herbivores that made the gaps in the heavy foliage … it could be played for cuteness or jump shock depending on the animal.
As well, various animals running would be cover and misdirection for the gang, even being hit by a stun shot (is it risky to stun a child - a taser on a 8 year old could be lethal) that was fired at movement.
Such a scenario could give the impression that Leia is going to get away, and her actual capture then is a shock.
I don’t think it would be dangerous to use a stun on a child i think of it more like a sedative thats shot out of a gun in rays but we don’t really know how they work for sure so, it could really be anything this is just my opinion
Indeed... but that would have required far more skilled writing than the show had sadly.
How society treats its most vulnerable does show the true values of said society…..love it
Imagine how angry Anakin was when Jedi would tell him something along the lines of "Don't be a slave to your emotions."
This man experienced actual slavery and he's being told to not be a slave to himself...bruh was probably waiting for order 66 before Palpatine even considered it
Yea I’m pretty sure some of the padawan used to make fun of him like this
Yeah. Probably the worst thing that ever happened to him. A micro-aggression.
@@Drace90 Not even microaggressions. He was a child and asked the space magician council (who regularly break laws) if they could do something about his enslaved mom and they shamed him for "having attachments". Damn
@@HotDogTimeMachine385 with their inaction eventually leading to her death. Yeah, I still wonder how he took so long to start chopping monks
@@staringgasmask You would be surprised how long abuse/manipulation victims hold on before snapping. They push things down as long as they can before something is just a push too far.
And sadly pushing down trauma is mistaken for everything being okay. If I ran a magic cult organization who can regularly break laws I would invest in therapists. To make sure nobody snaps.
I’m surprised the vast array of war crimes most performed by anakin didn’t properly make the list
I like how he stopped for a moment at the end, wondering "am I being an empire apologist right now?"
If clones would start rolling of the "factory floor", what would you think would happen? on the one side we have got factory owners, who would argue, that since they invested resources into the clones, they deserved the absolute control over the clone, whereas empathic human beings would argue that that´s the logic allowing a family to to mistreat their children. And you may guess three times, who would win said court case.
The Republic.
If the Republic uses the "they're people" cade, then they have control over them because they're part of the GAR.
If they play the "they're not people" case, then the Republic purchased the clones, so they're theirs.
Woo wooo first! Manafactuar
If the judges with the highest authority are appointed to their positions through careful currying of favor with the political decision makers, and in turn those political decision makers are in the grip of rich industrialists, then we only need one guess.
Running away in a forest is a lot easier for small people because they have far less obstacles. That's literally the plot of the lord of the rings.
Since Leia had made friends with the ewoks separately from the group, the ewoks were probably planning on letting her partake in that meal.
Mmmmm roasted mystery meat
They seemed to be offering to anyone NOT wearing white plastic armor... Apparently since the Rebels fought with them seeing them as friends from then on... An apparently according to scene dialogue... Not all Rebels either knew they was eating former Stormtroopers... Or worse, didn't really care... THAT thought kinda makes one evaluate what to think about least some of the Rebels.. that they could find out they was fed Human... Then shrug an say "really, tastes a lot like Chicken... Got any more that special BBQ kinda sauce??" An the Ewok hands it to him.
@@robertagu5533 oh yeah that too. But I was referring to earlier when they were gonna cook Han, Luke, and chewie. If Luke hadn't saved them using c-3po she might have wound up accidentally eating a part of one of her friends. Also this is the star wars universe, what's a chicken?

There are lots of messed up things the Empire did. What about the "sterilization" of the Geonosians. That was slave labour & genocide all in one. And aside from people being worked to death, the rest were killed just to keep the death star a secret to be revealed at the proper moment. A similar logic was applied to Jedda city. Tarkin in general was just a fountain of abhorrent ideas and total overkill, with little benefit to his factions, but lots of negatives, even from a pure power preservation perspective. That is a major point in Star Wars. The Empire is so vile, people need to rebel, people have no choice but to rebel, even those that want to go about their business and would be fine nodding along with a more resonably evil dictatorship.
None of that is Taboo though. They're constantly discussed and pointed out. The Empire is seen as he only immoral force in the Galaxy when really everyone commited war crimes, genocide, slave trades, and other terrible things.
Taboo: a social or religious custom prohibiting or forbidding discussion of a particular practice or forbidding association with a particular person, place, or thing.
Yeah, I'm imagining if he went with Luke's sister not being Leia, but being on a planet not at war with the Empire. There might be Soviet-style informants ready to accuse someone of rebel sympathies, where the accused owns property but doesn't have a family to inherit if they're taken out of the picture. So the informant would get the property as a reward. Just like witch hunts of the Inquisition.

How is Tatooine Habitable? Not in the sense of it's orbit or temperature fluctuations. I mean Oxygen, we are never shown any in the wild plant life. The only thing I can think of is, it used to have a ocean so when the ocean dried up all the water is now in the air and the processes of condensing the water in the air releases oxygen gas again.
In Legends Tatooine was once a lush green world with oceans and jungles. The Rakatan Infinite Empire glassed(total orbital bombardment) the surface after the race who eventually evolved into the Tuskans rebeled. The glass broke up after tens of thousands of years and became sand.
Great video. Love your dry humor and the way you draw parallels with real life.
To be fair to the Jedi and the Republic, child soldiers are a common phenomenon. Guerilla outfits, the Mandalorians, and even the Sith drafted kids.
Problem is that the Sith and Mandalorians are considered bad (or in the Mandalorians' case, excessively warlike). Jedi and Republic are supposed to be your heroes and shouldn't go that far.
@@johnquach8821 Doesn't matter
Child soldiers are a proud Star Wara tradition on all sides. Just like war crimes!
Is 18 still a kid? Still kid enough not be able decide to drink, not kid enough to take up arms for the American empire..
@@dukethighwalker6839 Nope.
Actually, most sith you see actually IN the battlefield are adults or older teenagers (17, 18, etc). The republic used an entire army of child soldiers, the Jedi used child soldiers, and the mandalorians DEFINITELY used child soldiers, but the sith didn't use THAT many in comparison
We had this show in canada based on the novel series Redwall that could be considered really violent by child standards. A lot of characters get stabbed and killed and eaten and the show didn't shy away from dead bodies. I feel like kids can handle a lot of things as long as it isn't gratuitous
I think while Redwall and Watership Down as animated shows handled serious issues for kids to understand, they were still very tame compared to the novels they were based on.
Had no idea they made a show about that, was it good?
@@banebeard They are. Plenty of action in both and they have enjoyable characters.
@@banebeard i like them. I don't know if they're censored or not since they're on a kids channel
@@banebeard We watched it on PBS every Saturday while it ran and loved it! They did three seasons: Redwall, Mattimeo, and Martin the Warrior, and Brian Jacques usually did a spot after each episode talking a bit and answering reader questions. You can find a bunch of it here on CZcams!
The mass of the second Death Star did not just disappear when the second Death Star was destroyed. The destruction of the second Death Star would most definitely have rained destruction and ecological devastation on Endor.
It would have made the meteor impact from 65 million years ago look like a fire cracker. Life on Endor would have been impossible with that much debris crashing into it.
They would have gotten a massive meteor shower but nothing catastrophic since the power reactor exploded and it shows the second death star gets blown to pretty much dust
There was probably a massive shock wave aswell
Indeed, Endor was a large planet and the gravity would have pulled the debris field in. Luckily the Ewoks lived on the MOON of Endor. They were fine. Endor was a gas giant so it was fine too.
@@shdwfxgamerz7667,
Energy doesn't just disappear either. A cloud of very fine dust or even vapor with the mass of the Death Star might not make any craters but it will heat the atmosphere to oven temperatures all the same.
That said, OP's comment gives a slightly inaccurate impression, as a significant minority of the debris will be ejected into orbit of the parent planet by the explosion, and the vast majority of the rest will stay in orbit (kinetic energy doesn't disappear either) for anywhere from days to decades, allowing the moon to recover somewhat between impacts. (The heating effect I mentioned being spread out over time will allow some of it to be radiated away via (hopefully) infrared light)

Even Boba Fett wanted nothing to do with spice trading. :)
The Jedi are supposed to be the goodguys but they take children from their parents (without the child being able to choose) and do not allow attachments. Attachments and love is something good in the world, but the jedi forbid it. That does kinda make them bad. Love and affection are a primary need for humans (adn probably many aliens as well), it is very unhealthy psychologically to NOT have this.
It surprises me that even Luke (in Book of Boba Fett) follows this as he was very close to his friends in the original trilogy. In fact him caring for his friends made him stronger.
Luke even became so messed up that he forced Grogu to choose between lightsaber and the gift from the Mandalorian. What happened to you Luke?
So Star Wars in a way tells that it is bad to have love, attachments, friends and relationships, which is in fact evil and against human nature. It would make more sense for the Sith to practice this!
These aren't really things Star Wars "normalizes" given that to normalize something you're giving it value in society. Many items on the list are in fact condemned as evil acts to be opposed within the text of Star Wars, therefore not normalizing them.
But, for a lot of them, they are ignored or even tolerated if it wasn't done where the galaxy could see it.
For example: Slavery.
Sometimes Allen makes me think he just straight up hates Star Wars lmao
Maybe his childhood was in Sokovia like Scarlett Witch and didn't get to see any Star Wars movie.

What if the Separatist council overthrew Dooku from the Separatist leadership? They realise that Dooku was tanking the Droid strategy and preventing the droids from swarming the Republic. Maybe the Neimodians link him to Darth Sidious and choose to betray him. The Separatists would be far better off without that Toxic Sith leadership. Plus if they can get Grievous to side with them they still have a Jedi killing general. Maybe Bec Lawise or Mina Bonteri can be elected leader. It would be interesting to see an unleashed confederacy and who would win internally between the Peace or the War faction. It would proabably be whoever the Separatist Council chooses. And more importantly once kicked out what do the Siths do. How would Sidious and Dooku deal with this new status quo? If Peace negociation were to be opened with the promise to never work with the Sith again, would the Jedis be open to secession and peace?
Do we know what the public knew about the origin of the clones. Did they know where the clones came from? Or that a Jedi was responsible for the order 10 years before the war? What did the common people know and think about clones?
What did happen to force sensitive children in the Confederacy. Did Dooku have a secret apprentice program?

Child labor is still a thing. What do you mean? Spice is always used for medicine or fuel and the clones are Kaminoan property.
So the good guys in star wars are everyday bad guys? Always wondered why they were mostly smugglers, and what they were smuggling
Drugs, wanted people, illegal guns, counterfeit money really whatever turns a profit
I mean Spice is supposed to have Medical Applications the same way a lot of prescription drugs do. Trafficking doesn't always mean sex slaves or workers, it could be similar to the Path in Obi-Wan where those who are prosecuted by the Empire have to sneak away. The Empire cluld have made things like weapons illegal but is that morally just or did they do it to maintain control and oppress the citizenry. Peoppe wanted by the Empire doesn't automatically mean they were bad people. Luke and Leia were defintely wanted.

When? Before or after having the Clone army? If it's before, are they attacking us with the Judicial Forces and Jedis? We could probably start negociation for membership before they could even pass a resolution to send any force to our planet. The Republic was wonderfully inefficient. If they attack us with the Clone army, we're basically done in all out warfare, and will have to do some insurgent tactics to keep them occupied. The clones are great for attacking and holding small forst but it's doubtful that out of a few million, a significant force would be deployed on Earth, a relatively unimportant world with few resources or industrial bases. We could probably turn Earth into a Viet-Nam for them and simultaneously request membership in the confederacy of Indepedant systems. If we can get that then reinforcement would be coming.
Excellent! Finally, a good criticism of the Star Wars universe. It's like finding out the nanny and groundskeeper were illegal aliens my parents were taking advantage of; the innocence of childhood is over.

The commentary was VERY spicy this episode and I am here for it.
The trandosian hunting island isn't a preditor based idea but a movie made in the 1930s called the most dangerous game, also remade into serving the game starring ice t.
Let's not forget torturing people in every cruel way possible. Kinda mentioned in the child-clip but I think it earns some extra credits. I mean torturing people till they turn mad is like a go to tactic to recruit enemies. Like wtf
Of course that is someothing you find not just on the imperial side. The imperial traitor in Rogue One after he defected, and I believe Annakin tortured too while he was still a Jedi...
And that are only the things we see.
@@marcbartuschka6372 yeah sure. They were all not that innocence. But the imperials got creative in their ways to torture. And I guess that's the most disturbing fact. The others still had a reason for the violence, even though it's still wrong of course. The imperials (for example) did it to show that they are stronger and kinda did it more for fun or whatever. That's so disturbing for me ig
While Star Wars is set in a technologically advanced sprawling universe - it's always been an analogy for things here on our own confined little rock. if things are "messed up" in Star Wars, it's because things are messed up here.
