    This dialogue from Atton Rand (KOTOR 2) is excellent:
    Exile: "The idea of you fighting Jedi is riddiculous"
    Atton: "Yeah, it sure is. And that's why I was so good at it. And that's why I wasn't fighting Jedi. I was killing them. People say killing Jedi is hard. It's not, you just have to be smart about it. No blaster, no getting close to them, no attacking them directly when you can gun down their allies instead. There's ways of gassing them, drugging them, making them lose control, torturing them. I was really good at it. What's worse is that killing them isn't the best thing. Making them fall... making them see our side of it, that was the best."
    Exile: "That's little hard to believe"
    Atton: "Yeah, maybe you'll believe this - that's when fighting a Jedi, you wound the Padawan first, then let the rest take care of itself. Not only will the master move to protect the student but the Force bond between the two will mess up the master's head better than any stab wound. Anything else? That's only a sample of my arsenal."
    Exile: "Tell me. I need to know how to protect myself, and others around me."
    Atton: "If there's no whiny little Padawan, start shooting innocents - not to kill, just enough so that they're gonna die unless the Jedi does something to save them. And if their Jedi is stupid enough to use their Makashi lightsaber form against you, start shooting as fast as you can and drop them while they're exposed. Set mines, set a lot of them. Fire gas grenades, but make sure they have magnetic lock targetters so Jedi can't Force Push them back."
    Exile: "How could you have killed Jedi?"
    Atton: "I taught myself... techniques. It's hard for Jedi to sense what you're really thinking if you throw up walls of strong emotions and feelings. Lust, impatience, cowardice... most Jedi awareness doesn't cruise beyond the surface feelings to see what's deeper."

    @rippera45 Před rokem +16

    One great anti-Jedi/Sith weapon is the FC-1 Flechette Launcher. You might remember it as the four-barreled, rectangular shotgun from Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It's canon again, thanks to a book. The metal spikes it fires can't be effectively blocked by lightsabers, and the secondary fire is a pair of explosive rounds for AOE damage. It's one of the few weapons I'd dare to get close to a saber-wielder with, because at that range, armor or personal shields won't save them. And at longer range, it can hit a lot of targets at once. A Jedi/Sith used to reflecting blaster bolts is as good as dead; they have to use the Force to divert the flechettes. And with multiple flechette hails fired in quick succession, only the most well-trained Force users could hope to stop them all.

    Another tactic I would like to add is star fighters. While the Skywalkers were excellent pilots (its literally in their name "sky walker") I don't believe the other jedi were as adept at flying star fighters and I think that flight takes jedi out of their element and puts them on a more even playing field. For example, Plo Koon was a skilled jedi master even capable of creating his own lightning that was killed by two unamed clone pilot teams in a dogfight where he was not able to use most of his powers.

    • @Lief21
      @Lief21 Před 2 lety +26

      Yeah, Jedi are pretty good with star fighters as well, they have a advantage but you would likely have a better chance against them in a dog fight than on the ground, but if they are a jedi that specializes in Starfighter combat, then your best bet is to run or I guess fly away.

    One thing that tends to be forgotten in the whole superpower talk is that Jedi and Sith are often baseline humans, or near-human aliens, meaning that they are vulnerable in body, and in mind. If you manage to affect the body beyond the ability to heal or overcome (paralyzing gas, neurotoxins, electrical shock causing muscle seizure, liquid nitrogen freezing their joints and cracking their armour...), or you manage to actually deeply affect their mind (terror tactics, demoralization, mental exhaustion, overwhelming anger...), they will slip up.
    Vader is a good example of someone who uses psychological warfare to weaken the enemy before he even arrives, but for the whole package (sickness, low morale, physical and mental exhaustion, heavy use of explosives...), you want to read the comics on the battle of Jabiim, aka mini-Geonosis, a month-long slaughter of Jedi so traumatic that it was arguably a big part of Anakin's gradual fall into darkness in the Legends continuity.

    Watch out on magnetic bullets, they get caught in the lightsabers magnetic field, used to keep the lightsaber blade in place. Classic chemical propulsion of cortosis or other lightsaber resistant Material bullets is the way to go here. If you have it a crossbow or a sling, using the upper conditions with the bolt fullfilling the upper conditions should work as well, if a little slower.
    don´t bother with fancy tech like explosive bullets or EMP. A hardcore shell with the core made from lightsaber resistant materials should work, too. But we´re slowly entering tank shell territory. And a tank should be able to wipe away a jedis smug smile anyway.
    The Verpines may have beautiful and effective slugthrowers, but those normally need to contain some magnetic materials in order to work properly.

But I´ll somewhat agree, at least the bolt will not come back to haunt you, even if it´s magnetic. the worst that will probably happen to the projectile is getting absorbed into the blade, giving the jedi a little dirt on it´s lightsaber after the battle.

The shotgun was the flechette cannon. The grenade launcher was a radioactive glob launcher on the underside of the Imperial heavy blaster. And the sniper rifle was a type of super-blaster. The glob launcher was my top fave followed closely by the flechette cannon. The sniper super-blaster was hard to use effectively because you couldn't move while aiming with the scope.

And a... or maybe a pair of... rotary autocanons firing kinetic explosive amunition set to airburst at the targets location based on predicted flight times. Near misses are deadly, blocking is unlikely to work and if it doesn't they can't reflect it. Using the force to grab and stop the rounds also takes a lot of focus and is very hard to redirect them back at you when they'd explode before they could turn them and shoot them back. And if you're own armor can tank the fragmentation from them all the better.

    All of these firearms are projectile weapons and they have an insanely fast rate of fire! You can overwhelm a Sith or a Jedi who are blocking with a lightsaber by the sheer ammount of bullets that you're firing per second, and best of all even if they DO block, the bullets will at best just pop, _at worst melt down and splash all over them!_ They're perfect!

      @@BryantVonMiller CONSIDERABLY MUCH MORE.
      Most of Vader's cybernetics are just prosthetic limbs.
      Borg are near inside/out replacements.

    For close quarter combat i would use a Shield with reactive armor, aka a swlaqp of steel with a dozen claimor mines glued to it. Your Lightsaber swinger will get atleast his arm ripped off.

    Darth Bane on Apatros mines: I wish that were true
    The Darth Bane books especially the first page of the first book states how Cortosis was so hard to mine that it would take hours just to mine it with hydraulic jacks or blow torches.

    I figure a lightsaber could get beskar so hot it could burn the skin under it. how about a handheld EMP? something to turn off the switch that ignites the lightsaber, NEW WEAPON.

    multi beam Lazer would likely be the best. shape of a cross with 4 beams at the tips of the cross and a beam in the center would prove impossible to deflect due to angels of beam attack
