    Thanks for doing this video. We took our roof of a new JL today and had a drive around. It was great. The back section of the roof is surprisingly heavy and I would recommend at least 3 people do the job.

      It is surprisingly heavy! They actually make some good accessories that help you carry it. But I don’t take the whole thing off enough to buy them haha

    Would be interesting if jeep makes future gen hardtop even more module where the back qtr side panels and rear left hatch are also modular from the top for even easier storage. Not sure if that is feasible but would be convenient, especially for storage and also would be a one person task.

    I own a 2 dr sport jk hard top and took it off completely after 4 yrs. should of done it at the beginning😆 and it feels like a new vehicle every time.

    I love my soft top. Can take it it off solo anywhere..literally. I opened just the top for the front two seats while at a red light. ( 4 Door JK )

    I have soft top two door, at the beginning of the video I said I should have purchased the hard top because it looks so easy to remove. But when you get to the rear part and showed that it's coming out one piece, I was very much convinced that I'm glad I got the soft top.

      Did you ever leave your soft top down in the rain? My wipers and lights stopped working. I have a JK. They started working again but it was annoying. Now I’m super careful.

      Malachi Burke I had someone help me. If you wanted to lift it by yourself you’d need to sit in the back of the Jeep and lift it. I’m just not tall enough to get it over the swing gate haha

      They do make something like that. Jeep sells one and there also non oem ones.

    Wow excellent tutorial. I have the 2d JL as well and have not felt comfortable enough to remove my hard top. I have removed the freedom panels a few times. I won’t be so nervous now. I can enjoy this ride better, that’s only 2 years old. Whew! I did want to see what your ride look like as you drive it without the top. Next time can ya take of the doors and tops and ride it so I can see how it looks bare? Thanks man appreciate the footage.

    I understand the practicality of a hard top but they aren't for me. I much prefer the soft top for that great Jeep open air experience within five minutes. Nice to see the 2 door is not lost on some people. All these 4 dr limos are becoming eye sores.

    4:13 is there anywhere to get a replacement for that tray? I just bought a used wrangler and that tray is missing and I can't find replacements anywhere.

    Hi there - that large back top piece that you had help with - how do you store it in the garage? Great videos - love the 2 door !

      mrThree5two I usually just lay down some towels and lay it down gently on those. But they make stands for them which would be cool to have.

    Just came across this, great vid! I haven’t taken my hardtop off yet but will soon. Have you ever put the freedom panels back on with the hardtop off?? It will work, right? Not like the JK?

      @@therealKJMD yes! You can run freedom panels without the hardtop on. It still latches on and is secure. And looks cool too!

    Can you put the Freedom panels on with the rest of the top off? You mentioned having them with you if it rained and that would be an awesome option in case you got caught out in a summer shower and the top was home. It just looked like the back clips were on the back half of the top. Please let us know.

      I believe you can. I haven’t personally tried it so I don’t know how secure they are or aren’t when it’s done that way.

    Do they make roll bar covers for the 2 door JL's yet? I'm buying a 2 door Rubicon soon but have been unable to find covers for the roll bar. I think they would look way better with covers on them when I take the top off.

    After all 3 pieces are off can you leave the back off and replace only the 2 front panels? Wondering if you can drive around with only the front panels on???

      cdale613 Yes you can drive with any of those pieces on or off since each of the 3 pieces top are separated

    I had a JK sahara and now I have a JL sahara. I see that the white interior get scuffed easily. I am afraid to get it banged up on removal. Do you have suggestions how to clean it ?

      Alcohol and some cotton pads seem to work. But I haven’t had mine get scuffed up. I take the freedom panels on and off all the time. But I always put them in their storage bag. And now I’ve got a headliner in there now so it keeps everything cleaner 👍🏻

    Most of the people drive with the front panels off when is nice to get fresh air since not everyone have private garage to storage the back piece. If you guys don’t want to deal with the front panels you could buy the Sunrider from Bestop.com for JK/JL. I keep my front panels home now.

    I removed my freedom panels for the first time yesterday. They went back on smoothly and everything clicked until place. However now I have a new wind noise that sounds like it's in the middle where they connect. Any ideas what I could have done wrong?

      Take them back off, and double check the rubber lining on both panels. Then put them back on and make sure there’s no rubber hanging out above the top. Had that happen once with mine. Hopefully that helps!

      I bought the hot head headliner for it and that helps make the top mostly black on the inside as well as make it quieter and keep the temperature regulated.

      Yep. That’s part of the design. Just pop the front two out and you’re good! 👍🏻

    hey why did you get the 2 door vs 4 door? personally i like the looks of 2 door but 4 door seems to be the most popular choice.

      It’s more popular because the 4 door is a better family vehicle than the 2 door. Way more practical. Me personally I always wanted a 2 door Jeep and since I don’t have kids or anything I don’t need the extra seat space. Plus the 2 door has a better break over angle and is easier to Maneuver off-road with it’s shorter wheelbase.

      KAY 2020 Depends on how big your kids are haha if they smaller then sure. My sister who’s 15 and about 5’5 fits back pretty easily

      If you leave the back seats in they make harness for dogs. But I’ve never actually had a dog in mine now that I think about it haha so take that with a grain of salt

      Can you, yes. But they might rattle a little more and probably won't be as secure but you CAN do it.

    What was Jeep smoking when they decide to go with screws vs latches I never ever understood that my 78 Corvette had latches for the T-tops. PS I would do a soft top way easier.

      Also easier to have something stolen. Pocket knives cut soft tops pretty easily

    Love the jeep.. but not sure about all these new ones that rolling out the factory..it looks as if they no longer are made to be man handled anymore,, it's almost made to be gentle with and for looks only...I do wonder if the jeep engineers are no longer putting these things in field test,, or did they simply came of from a design and build off the bat.

      I’m sure you could. You can also buy a headliner kit from hot head headliners like I did that make 90% of it black.

      You have to unscrew yours if you have a JK. The big giant screws right above your head. The JL doesn’t have those

      @@drivenmad2089 there is nothing to unscrew on my JK. Just 4 latches on the driver's panel and 3 latches on the passenger's panel.

      @@drivenmad2089 I took my panels off yesterday. 1 latch 3 levers on the driver's. 1 latch and 1 lever on the passenger's. I do see the screw holes in the panel and soundbar though.

    No point in buying the Rubicon now. Sport looks exactly the same and is way cheaper. A few upgrades and boom. Its basically a rubicon. Ha But saved thousands.

      It’s honestly A lot better than most give it credit for. It’s still a Jeep but it’s definitely not unbearable like most people would lead you to believe.

      I have a two door 2007 JK and I personally think it’s a smoother ride than most luxury cars. That’s just my opinion though.

    What Does JL mean?

      JL is the model code for this Generation of vehicle. So 2007-2017(2018.5) are known as JK's 2018.5's(newer body style) and present are known as the JL platform. prior to 2007 those were known as TJ or LJ for the long wheelbase model before 4 door wranglers existed.
