GOLD, those measurements and items you put in therefor us to see were gold .For those of us who don't own a 2 door yet- it's great to see this kind of detail given to the back and not just the front. I've got all sorts of ideas to build out the wheel wells as cubbies and have a removable lockable box made of aluminum that would fill up the entire space flush with the seats all the way back and to the height of the tub body. Add a tray up above that's closer to the roof for soft storage and I hope to go cross country with my wife and camp out. Thanks for the video's, cheers

i have a 2 door wrangler and i have fit 2 large cages (moving 1000 miles with cats), a suitcase, a small cooler, coats, and tons of other assorted stuff back there. i've also over the last month or so, fit a large IKEA chair, a 5'3" IKEA shelf, a desk (separately)...i'm always amazed at how much i can get back there (seats removed, obvi)! i have also had a bike back there but had the window open, front tire hanging over the gate haha! you could sleep comfortably diagonally instead of straight, like you were showing.

Yes, ditch the seat! Build a platform w/12" interior height to the back of the cubby storage. We have top access panels in the front half, the rear access is from the tailgate.. tailgate access means the back is secure. The seat can be modified to drop flat as long as you don't have side airbags, we have a JK soft top. The storage matches the folded seat height. Remove the headrest to fold the seat flat. It's a puffy seat so use a ratchet strap with a piece of ply on top to hold it flat. Makes into a comfortable 74" bed. We do it, works great. Probably be a good idea to actually own your jeep as opposed to leasing.. the dealer wouldnt be too impressed. 😃to

Great vid. Just a bit of advise, when flipping the seat up use the Velcro straps and secure it to the hooks near the roll bar. The seat will actually bounce around. I had cases of soda on the floor and the seat bounced, and the metal ends slammed into the cans. What a mess.

Thanks for discussing sleeping in the two door. I realized after I bought mine that this was a problem. I like my two door for its small size and agility, but after much searching on how to sleep in it I should have spent the bucks and gotten the 4-door. I must stretch out flat when sleeping because of back pain and one company makes fitted pads for the JKU for sleeping.
Otherwise the best solution is to push front passenger seat forward and recline like you did but place your head at the driver side tailgate corner, fill the footwell gap with a cooler or soft clothes or blankets and you can stretch out. Works in a pinch.

After having our 2015 2 door for 7 yrs continually tweeking it we finally got it right after figuring out how to flatten the passenger seat. Yes it can be done! If you're tall you need to address adequate storage, sleeping headroom and sleeping length. Once you solved those, you'll be a happy camper. 😉

    • @H.pylori
      @H.pylori Před rokem

@@pujabelgian Would you mind sharing how to flatted the front pass enter seat. In my 2016 JK the seat back only folds forward half way then tilts towards the dashboard. It only goes backwards a few degrees. My last resort is to remove the front passenger seat entirely and stuff the space with storage boxes to the level of the rear of the Jeep. Then I could fully stretch out my 5'9" frame. There would be room on the driver side to store equipment and supplies. I thought about platforms but then I would not be able to sit up. Thanks for your input.

I sometimes fold the back seat down and sleep back there. It's just and me wife, so literally the backseats never get used, but I carry surfboards/kiteboards, and I'm debating whether I'm cool with giving up being able to sleep in it. It's not really a money issue, more a which is more fun to drive/off-road.

No one buys a 2 door Jeep for cargo space or carrying passenger's, but you do have options.
    1. Take out the rear seat
    2. The aftermarket offers cargo racks
We bought a 2 door JL because our kids are grown and its our time now. Throw a suitcase in the back with some groceries and a cooler, camping gear on the rack, extra fuel in the can that attaches near the spare tire and we're gone.

Bike, yes... but you'd have to go topless and then close the gate, and either take off the front wheel or have it go more vertical with tie straps. So it's doable, depending on how much work you want to commit to storing it. But with hardtop on and everything, not without disassembling the bike a little more.

Something jeep owners should think about buying is that folding trailer from Harbor freight, it solves the cargo issue for those times you actually need to get let's say a few 4x8 sheets of plywood from home depot or something

I plan to remove the front passenger seat too if I go car camping solo in my 2 Door Wrangler. Then there will be enough room to sleep comfortably. 😁

Looks like laying down would be no problem if I pull out that center console box thing out and omg how nice it would be...clean under there, get 50$ in change back...I could tie a rope around my waist and and dive into that portal to the other dimension. Look around for all my stuff that fell in.
Like the portal behind the glovebox where I found my title and registration folder when installing the stereo.

From the base of the Windshield to the top of the back glass is about 86-87in. From the passenger side base of the windshield to the driver side back of the glass(so diagonal) is about 94-95in.
      Hope that helps 👍🏻
