I'm seeing that these terms can be very misleading. What does "effortlessly" mean? I know what it tries to contrast but are these concepts really biblical. Did God ever say there are no "conditions" and did he say it would be "effortlessly"? Yet I understand what these terms are meant to represent. My realization is in refuting one extreme we have to be sure we don't create false and unbiblical concept. There would always be TERMS and CONDITIONS we only have to make sure we meet them with a true heart. We have to make sure we teach people what it truly means to BELIEVE.

@@jasonfrederick1258 What are you even talking about? Terms and conditions?? Jesus doesn't some man made system to make sure his grace doesn't get abused He doesn't need the law because he already fulfilled it. And those were the only terms and conditions he used to bring man to a realization that we needed Him because he was the only one who could fulfill His own terms and conditions.

I am thankful that at the start of the video Bas said he teaches from a pure-grace point of view, it sets the perspective of the presentation. I agree 100% with his read of these scriptures. However, the amazing thing about many aspects of God's ways is that what can appear opposite can also be true. It is also true that Paul urges us to work out our salvation, and continue in good works. Jesus says we need to obey, this was not a suggestion. It is true that we are forever bound to Him through the presence of the Spirit. It is also true that choosing his ways in our hearts and by our actions will often show immediate fruit and in that sense there is participation by us his children. "there is something we do". Resting and working, it is a dichotomy, both are true at the same time, as supported by the scripture. God is amazing.

As I grow I am realizing it's wrong to say "there is nothing we have to do". That statement is wrong cause the biblical teaching clearly states "abide". There is no self-imposed work we need to do but there is the necessary "work of faith" which only can come by hearing the word/truth of God.

Romans 4;1-2 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2, For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3, For what saith the scriptures? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto for righteousness. 4 now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5, But to him that worketh not, but believe th on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Our only commandment is to believe on the one that He sent and to love one another. The gospel, 1st Corinthians 15;1-4, the death burial and resurrection of Jesus is the plum line abide in the gospel (obey) believe and you will be saved and sealed til the day of redemption. 1 John 4:15 - *Whoever confesses* that Jesus is the Son of God, *God abides in him, and he in God*....God is love, and *he who abides in love abides in God*, and God in him.
1 John 3:24 - Now *he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. *
1 John 4:12 - *If we love one another, God abides in us*, and His love has been perfected in us.
1 John 2:6 - *He who says he abides in Him* ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 John 3:6 - *No one who abides in Him sins*; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
According to the above Scriptures, whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. Meaning every true believer abides in Christ [the Vine]. The natural consequence of being a branch is the inevitability of it bearing fruit. If it doesn't bear fruit it is worthless and good for nothing but to be thrown into the fire. Anyone who abides in Christ bears the fruit of Christ, i.e., the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22), abiding in love (1 Jn 4:15), keeping His commandments (1 Jn 3:24), loving the brethren (1 Jn 3:14), and walking even as He walked (1 Jn 2:6). This is all accomplished, not by the branch, but the Vine; not of works for _"apart from Me you can do nothing"_ _"And if by grace, then it is no longer of works"_ (Rom. 11:6).
God's promise in the new covenant is, _"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you...I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes"_ [keep My commandments] (Ezek. 36:26, ). _"For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure"_ (Phil. 2:13). Therefore, _"No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed_ [His Spirit] _abides in him; and he cannot_ [continue in] _sin, because he is born of God"_ (1 Jn. 3:9). _"For if you live according to the flesh you will die_ [eternal death]; _but if by the Spirit_ [the gift of grace] _you put to death the deeds of the body_ [sinful behavior], _you will live_ [eternal life]" (Rom. 8:13). _"By this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us"_ (1 Jn 3:24). _"If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him"_ (Rom. 8:9).
*A branch has no other purpose for its existence than that of bearing fruit* (_"we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works"_ Eph. 2:10). Any branch (anyone who confesses Jesus) that does not bear fruit is a liar (_"He who says, 'I know Him,' and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."_ 1 Jn. 2:3) _"If anyone does not abide in Me_ [continuously live and believe in Me, Jn. 11:26], _he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned"_ (Jn. 15:6). In other words, a branch in the tree of Christ that does not bear the fruit of Christ, the sole purpose for its existence, is a contradiction in terms. It is a dead branch (_"faith, if it has no works, is dead"_ James 2:17) and will therefore be cast out and eternally condemned.
_"Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth-*those who have done good*_ [live according to the Spirit], _to the resurrection of life, and _*_those who have done evil_* [live according to the flesh], _to the resurrection of condemnation"_ (John 5:28-29). _"Little children, make sure *no one deceives you*; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous"_ (1 John 3:7). _"Or do you not know that *the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived*"_ (1 Cor. 6:9). Paul is saying in essence, "If you think you will inherit the kingdom of God by a faith in Christ that does not result in living a righteous life you are deceiving yourself." Acts 10:35, _"Whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him."_ Those who do not fear Him and work righteousness will not be accepted by Him because, whatever they may profess, their belief in Him is not genuine. _"They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed"_ (Titus 1:16).

    • @marvinmaddocks
      @marvinmaddocks Pƙed 4 lety

Remaining in Christ has much to do with believing. We come to God by believing and that is how we remain in Him. When we believe the lies of the enemy we stray...abiding is all about believing...so firstly believing your righteous identity in christ.. wen you believe that you are righteous in your very identity and that in HIM we live move and have our being we will behave as such. when our behavior is out of wack its usually as a result of wrong believing. We have te mind of Christ...As He is so are we in this world 1John 4:17.

No hes NOT saying having a relationship with God is effortless, He is saying abiding in Him is, Once you are saved you CANNOT be unsaved! EVER. Doing good works with love is fruitless. we do things God asks of us not out of servitude but out of love in a deep intimate relationship with Him. When we Abide in him effortlessly (do not depart from his love since we were already saved when He died on the Cross) He is saying we will not be separated. It has nothing to do with keeping or obeying Gods commands

Please don't miss John 15:2. Branches that bear no fruit are removed from the Vine. Branches that do bear fruit are "purged" to promote the production of more fruit. The pruning work that purges us cleanses us of undesireable features, like complacency for instance, and is comparable to the chastening of the Lord which as Hebrews 12:11 tells us, does not seem to be joyous but grievous. After the purging, pruning, cleansing, chastening that God does is over, those that are exercised or trained by it yield the fruit of righteousness. Please don't miss this wonderful truth.

You are confusing to different abides. The one in 1 John is about salvation but the abide Jesus refers to in John 15 is about relationship. Jesus tells us what this abide means in John 15:9-10 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. Jesus is telling us not to fall off the path (relationship) and make sure we stay with Jesus. As we stay on the path (relationship) it allows Jesus to prune us: empty us, grow us, perfect us, to bear fruit and shine his Glory. As a branch must remain in the vine to bear fruit so must we. We are saved by faith, it is a free gift but just like marriage, love is free, but we must work on our relationship so that we can bear fruit.

Interesting comment, however, in 1 John 4 or John 15 the SAME greek word is used. Another key thing, the commandments Jesus is referring to are NOT the 10 commandments, but would refer to what He's laying out in that context (John 14)... and ultimately is summarized as agape-love (15:12,17).

Actually Christine, it's about our love (though it may be just of reflection of His, in us) - "if you abide in my love, just as I abide in My Father's love", it means we have to share the same love and compassion He have towards us. Otherwise, "I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal."
God may love us from the deepest trench in the ocean, to the highest peaks of mountains, if we don't love, we are not His sons and daughters!

evagelizarEC surely bearing fruits won't save anyone, because Jesus is our only salvation. But check the Bible, see how many times it say us to bear fruits. The teaching is clear, we have to bear fruits, but not through our own effort, everything we would do without us being in Christ and Him being in us is vain.
The fruits are rather a confirmation we live in the vine.

It's a pity I won't be here in 30 yrs to hear this guy then. Young preachers almost always say you don't have to do any things to please God; just believe in (believe = acknowledge to them) His son. Case closed, right? Not really. There are a ton of other scriptures that say we have to live as righteously as we can. Some of us can do more than others, that's fine. Then if you read each epistle carefully & slowly you'll notice every one says don't sin. Jesus went so far as to say "be perfect because your Father in heaven is perfect". I don't think Jesus expects any of us to attain perfection but He expects us to keep it in mind as an ultimate goal. If we don't make it a goal we certainly will never come near it. I hope that someday this guy wakes up to this.

I do not believe everything in this video is 100% biblical. I wonder how much effort Jesus exhibited to fast for 40 days and nights and to resist temptation. I also wonder if He supposedly used no effort in dying on the cross or His struggle in the garden of Gethsemane where He sweat blood and asked the Father if it be possible that His cup pass from Him? He felt everything we felt and was tempted in every way that we are.
Nevertheless, I agree that spiritual fruit is not produced by striving in the flesh but abiding in (looking to, depending on, trusting in) the vine... however that does not dismiss the struggle. For the flesh wages war against the spirit and those who are in Christ have nailed their fleshly passions to the cross and crucified them there.

  • @ketermalkut7653
    @ketermalkut7653 Pƙed 5 lety

I agree with his teaching that each believer should get away from the institution and have a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD. The LORD Himself told us not to call any human our teacher or father, but that The LORD alone was Our ONLY Teacher and Father - Matthew 23:8-10
However the STRONGEST CONCERN with the grace movement is that IT IS A PETRI DISH FOR DEMONS. When we were saved our spirits got saved and became one with The LORD - we are as He is and we are Holy in His Sight - 1John 4:17, Hebrews 2:11.
Our souls - physical body, mind, will and emotions remained the same. If that was not true every person who gets saved will immediately be 100% healed of every ailment and would never have a problem with anger etc. And we know that does not happen. Beyond that there a people who have evil spiritual hangers on/evil entities/demons because they were vulnerable to deep hurt, abuse or a transference of a genetic/ancestral evil through their blood. ALL those things have been DEFEATED BY CHRIST but it is the believer who has to enforce that defeat in their souls by casting out those entities of the abuse they suffered.
The grace movement while ignoring the demon casting out issue sometimes has preached that people cannot be possessed with demons. The new age movement teaches the same. As a result THE DEMONS REMAIN AND GET A STRONGER HOLD IN THE PERSON'S LIFE and the confusion that arises can lead the grace movement to justify every aberration that INVITES DEMONS IN like homosexuality etc. because they FOCUS ONLY ON LOVE!.
While a believer cannot be possessed in his spirit by demons, his soul can be. ALSO EVERYTHING SUPERNATURAL IS NOT OF THE GOD OF TRUTH. evil can manifest with supernatural "healings" etc. which are a DECEPTION - they don't last and will cause the person to be worse than they were. roman catholic exorcism is one because the religion is rooted in pagan sun worship and satan will not fight against satan.
William Branham who is known for his supernatural gifts, often true gifts where people even today testify of how they were helped, was said, by his assistant Ern Baxter, to operate with 2 spirits. This can happen especially when the preacher/person is under pressure to perform, or through DECEPTION and their ego, goes outside of his assignment from The LORD. A person called to be only an evangelist can try to teach or think he or she is a prophet or apostle when The LORD never called them into that ministry.
In all ministry in The Name of the LORD GOD of Truth, and the Father of The LORD Jesus (Yehoshua), the minister must be dead to his or her flesh and be ONLY Spirit in The Father, with the ONLY desire to be a conduit of His Will and Word for every person. As the apostle John said, He must increase and we must decrease.
The LORD told us that believers in Him will cast out demons. It is a supernatural sign THAT WILL FOLLOW BELIEVERS. Let us not miss His Ministry by deception of darkness that is defeated when exposed and allowed to multiply and destroy when able to hide. The LORD said that satan comes to KILL STEAL AND DESTROY - John 10:10. If we see that happening in the lives of people including believers let us seek the LORD to teach us and let us check every teaching with Him as He is OUR ONLY TEACHER.

+James Enloe you won't be able to abide in Him, which is a command he gives us, if you don't have faith. If your a kid in the line at the bank and your Dad says "IF you will stay right here, be patient & don't go anywhere, I'm going to go to the main vault to get you a great amount of treasure." if you are fully persuaded and trusting in what he says you will do what he says. but what if you get tired of waiting and start to doubt what he told you, then decide to leave. that's the opposite of Faith, which is unbelief, and the unbelieving don't inherit the promises of God. alot of people believe with their head that Jesus is the son of God, but even the demons believe and they tremble. we need to be those who believe with their heart by taking the commands of Jesus to heart and obeying them, always keeping our eyes on him and his word ready to perform it (aka being a doer of the word and not a hearer only).

I know that fasting isn't a way of twisting Gods arm - but a way of mortifying the flesh so that we are thrust into a closer walk with God but thats what I mean... its still something that we CAN do... so I'm a bit confused... help!

Jesus DID NOT have to DO anything to be one with His Father. Their love never departed from the other one. Forever remaining as one. Never to be separated. That is what the word ABIDE means from Hebrew/Greek translation, Most ppl go off of the English translation which has changed and altered very much since Jesus walked the earth. He talked to God , not because he was obligated to do so or had to in order to abide in God. He prayed out of love through an intimate relationship with God. And NO prayer is never to mortify your flesh. it is your private and quiet communication with your God who loves you and wants a relationship with you. Prayer does not ensure that you ABIDE in GOD. Jesus dying for our sins so we may become one with him is Abiding in him. He states his LOVE will abide with us. His LOVE will never depart from us. He will always love us no matter what we do. That will never be taken from us ever.

YES! There is more! First get yourself a King James Bible! Second, in order to abide in Jesus Christ you have to be saved! They weren't. Jesus hadn't risen yet so the Holy Spirit wasn't in them yet. In order to be saved you have to Repent and be Born Again.
Repent means to turn from your sin and to turn to God. God is looking for a change in your attitude that says "Lord, I don't want to do wrong anymore, I want to live for you now." If you call upon the name of the Lord with all your heart to save you and forgive you, Then God said he would forgive you. Call upon God to save you! Don't wait! This is serious! New age Cultist, I bind you in the name Of Jesus Christ. I bind your false tongue in Jesus' name.
Abiding in Jesus is effortless due to the fact He died for us all. you need to look up the Greek and Hebrew meaning of this word not WIKI ...Abide: hold to, never to depart from, We do NOT have to work for his love or for Him to stay in us. Gods promise will never be broken. Be teachable in this moment , you have been spewing falsities here.
