    You didn't use ATF for fluid??? Transmission fluid has swelling Ingredients that supposedly help seals. Idk. I've always used ATF, in my 95 sc300 180k miles and all I had was a high pressure hose leak ,which I just cut where it cracked and re clamped.
    How is the new pump holding up?

      The gasket kit we installed didn't last long, but the new pump (we installed in a future video) fixed the leaking issues. We did use ATF when we replaced the pump, but in this video we used some random power steering fluid. The new pump held up great, it never had any issues during the time Luke owned it, but I couldn't tell you the current condition of it since we sold the car.

      @@AbnormalGarage it didn't last because of the power steering fluid you used. Also, you guys missed an o ring on the banjo fitting, where the flow control valve is. Other than that, good video. It showcases what a diyer should expect when taking on this job.

    I just got my pump replaced along with ps pressure hose in my 92 SC300. I am having a leak from the cap, it looks like they may have filled it too high. It is squirting from the cap onto the right side onto the black box shaped thing above the battery cause I see little spots of ATF dex lll. Could this be because its overfilled also?

      @AbnormalGarage  Před 6 lety +1

      You should be able to see if it's overfilled by taking the cap off the power steering reservoir, and seeing if it's up to the fill line or over it. As far as the fluid leaking from the cap. My guess would be that there's air in the steering rack pushing the fluid out.

      Do you know how I can get the air out?

    • @AbnormalGarage

      When we did it, we filled the reservoir to the line on the dip stick. Then left the cap off, and started the engine. Then turned the steering wheel all the way to the left, and all the way to the right multiple times (slowly) until there was no more bubbles in the reservoir. It helps to have two people so somebody can watch the reservoir, and somebody can turn the steering wheel. You'll have to keep adding ATF to the reservoir as the air comes out. Just try not to over fill it. You'll probably want a catch pan underneath the car just to be safe, cause it can make a mess if it bubbles over the reservoir. I don't know if this is the proper way to do it, but it worked for us.

    Could I get a link to where I could buy the repair kit

      Just a heads up, the rebuild kit that we used didn't last long. We ended up replacing the power steering pump (in a newer video), but if you would still like to try the repair kit, I have a link to it in the description.

    The black fitting has an o-ring inside that is where mine started to leak. I noticed you missed it, it’s where The banjo bolt goes into.

      The gasket kit didn’t hold up very long, we ended up replacing the pump (in a newer video) and haven’t had any issues with it.

      Abnormal Garage lol right when i asked that i saw the next video, but i appreciate your fast response. Also my power steering started leakin recently; probably because i was trying to do donuts turning it to the right instead of the left, do you know of any aftermarket steering pumps that can help with it not having that issue?

    • @AbnormalGarage
      @AbnormalGarage  Před 6 lety +1

      I don't know of any aftermarket power steering pumps. You could try the gasket kit to see if that solves your leaking issue, but you may have to do what we did and get a remanufactured pump.
