    How long did you have the solder iron heat up to melt the old solder

    you pointed at the voltage regulator, you did not replace it. thanks for info on the brushes but I was looking for how to detach the voltage regulator.

    so you are sure that the "rectifier bridge " has no faulty diodes ? affecting the output. What about a stator problem or armature (rotor) problem??

    Hi . I got oil in my alternator and damage . Do you thinking if I'm replacing those parts fix my alternator?

    title includes the change out of the voltage regulator, however you missed that part of the presentation. why???

    Wishing you would have replaced the bearings as I needed to find a video that opened up the case. Whenever I take the time to remove an alternator, I would choose to replace all in the kit as the parts would just be collecting dust anyway or you misplace them.

    A statistic about alternators - 90% of the time they fail due to the brushes being worn out. We're talking a $1-$2 in copper, but the brushes are usually part of the voltage regulator and for a few bucks more it's easier to just replace the regulator that has new brushes with it. Less disassembly. The brushes are small and hard to work with I think.

      Did you know? About 90% of alternator failures are attributed to worn-out brushes. Surprisingly, these are often a simple $1-$2 in copper. However, the catch is that the brushes are usually integrated into the voltage regulator. For a few extra bucks, it's often more efficient to replace the regulator, which comes with new brushes. This not only saves money but also makes the replacement process easier, as the brushes can be tricky to work with due to their small size. Practical tips for smoother maintenance!

    Heck, if all you need is the brush assembly - brushes 99% of the time - you can get 'em off Ebay for like $6 with free shipping.

    At what point did you think you should put in the title voltage regulator? You basically just said this is a good voltage regulator

  • @cheapers1952

    looks like your brush replacement has shortened the life of them . They look to be the lenght of the brush set you originally replaced ??? ( I think you pulled them in way to far and set a large load on the springs .??!!

  • @cheapers1952
    @cheapers1952 Před 2 lety

    Unfortunatelly your statement about the brushes sounds hokey! I didnt realize that the alternator only produces more output when the brushes are new? That is not true I would like a live video proving that out. Get back to me when you really understand the operation of an alternator.

    another false hood is that the pullys are not heavy duty .newer vehicles use one-way clutch (OWC) or overrunning decouplers (OAD) type pullys WHICH ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE even though they may fit !!
