Was legitimately surprising to hear you mention the Gungrave anime, underrated
I loved gungrave as a kid but had no idea it had a sequel with overdose. This is so far everything I wanted from it
I'm an old school Nightow/Gungrave fan. I've enjoyed the art and characters since the original ps2 games and anime its been a series I've wanted more of for a very long time
shame gore didnt adopt the style of the originals

They're surface level gamer. People that I don't trust. This game look fun if you know what you're doing, the game already provide necessary tool to demolish enemy. They don't know how to utilise it.
The triangle upgrade for human shield also breaks shields, good AOE!
I've been playing this nonstop since release because I'm a huge fan of the IP. This game sparks a kind of joy I haven't felt from any game in a pretty long time. 😭
Note: while death spear is able to instantly destroy shields, the saw and fury powered gunfire are also very good at destroying them in wide close range situations.
The saw in particular is useful for this since it hits multiple times across all enemies in front of you
I Just recently learned about this series and its Creator is the dude who made Trigun! So you already know it is deeper than it looks!
That explains why it looks so familiar. I love Trigun!
It's also the same creator of kekkai sensen
They made the anime series, but the game it's based on was developed by Red Entertainment whom also made a very very obscure but awesome ps2 action title called Bujingai. They almost made a Trigun game, but it was canceled. 😑
Hopefully they dont ruin the remake.

Here are a few more tips:
- The "Fury Mode" will let you destroy shields with normal shots.
- Upgrading the damage of your Death Hauler (melee attacks) makes it so that shields break faster, and after the last upgrade, you destroy them with 1 melee attack.
- Don't rush the train! The girl on the radio will tell you to move faster at the end after dodging the signs, but take your time.
The tunnel will start moving towards you after you've reached a certain distance.
If your rush it, there are just too many things that will knock you off.
- The "Storm Barrage" is there to charge your "Demolition Shots" faster... so spam it as often as you can and don't be afraid of taking damage.
- Use these "Demolition Shots" only for healing at first... don't waste them to improve your art points... this can wait till you are better at the game.
Also don't waste them if you are surrounded and have enough health left.
- "Storm Barrage: Dodge Shot" and "Storm Barrage: Jump Shot" will drain your shield gauge each time you are using these moves.
It isn't much, but it will hinder your shield recovery... so if your shield recovers and you use these moves, it will stop as if you got hit by an enemy.
- Your shield starts recharging after using a "Demolition Shot".
Try dodging after using such a move or use them only from a good position, so the next attack won't knock your shield down again.
EDIT:
If you are a "Gungrave" veteran, here is a bonus tip for your ranking at the end:
- The "Health %" counts what you have left after finishing a stage.
In the previous games, the ranking used the lowest amount you've had inside a level and healing didn't change it.
So don't be like me and be to afraid when it comes to taking damage.
The game expects you to take damage.
So rack up 50 Beats, go ham with your "Storm Barrage" moves, no matter the life cost and refill it with a well placed "Demolition Shot".
The game basically turns into a "Doom Eternal" with this resource management.
Here's some additional tips:
- The grab slam attack has an AOE effect and gives Arts score consistently, but the grab cannon blast has more I-frames and can knock down bigger enemies if you line it up right.
- Demolition Shots that have you manually aim will always give you back 20% of your shields after the attack. They can also be used to avoid certain boss attacks, as you become completely invulnerable during them.
- The laser grid puzzle towards the end of the game does have a consistent pattern, but be prepared to wait a lot. Alternatively, Death Drive Demolition Shot can be used to bypass the last few of them.
- Completing Easy mode gives you the faster firing golden Cerberus, and Normal mode the EVO Death Hauler that builds Demolition Shot gauge faster. You're going to need them if you want to clear some of the later Hard mode levels.
- The unlockable GORE difficulty is similar to Hard mode, but all the checkpoints have been removed. Thankfully, you don't have to complete it to get the platinum trophy.
I discovered Gungrave in an advert in a games mag in 2002 didn't think about it much at the time other than a cowboy with two fancy guns and chains on his arms. But in 2006 when I started using CZcams I saw a Gungarve AMV "holding out for a hero" got me really interest, watched the anime loved it got the DVD collection. Then I manged to get both the 1st and Overdose, the 1st was good, but I liked Overdose better especially after unlocking Invincible mode which made it even more fun and badass.
So when I saw Gungrave Gore coming soon I was looking forward to it even pre-ordered the skins for it, which unfortunately don't work right now. Now I have it and played it I'm finding it hard especially on easy mode, the fact I have to grind for DNA points to buy upgrades and the fact that sometimes there are too many enemies at once either shooting me, melee me, shooting rockets at me that I can't deflect back at them in time, dealing with their shields makes me want to go back to play overdose. Thanks for the tips
Use melee and Fury mode ( especially when comboed with Storm Barrage, against the shields. Demolition Shots will also break them if you have them stocked and are getting low on health. If you can't get rid of them quickly, use them to keep your Beat count. You won't get Beats for shooting their shields, but it stops the counter from ending when you hit them.
I owned the first two on the PS2, brings back some good memories. Playing it tonight after work. I feel old 😂

Someone as me who had to stop playing simulation races and high quality challenging games because of my new fatherhood life, i suddenly start loving these games these are so simple and takes me back to my ps2 and ps3 days when id just play for fun. Loved evil west, love this, now waiting for wanted dead. Glad these simple games are returning back. Just would expect a bit more good story

Yeah im one of the old school guys who played the 1st 2 games in the ps2 era, looking forward to purchasin this, gotta love the challenge and when to use the demolition shots.

hello man, i just find out your channel by the video that you make 2 years ago about the ps5 controller for pc gaming, really liked your content, but i really want to know, 2 years later, what do you think about the dual sense for pc gaming? im brazilian (sorry my bad english), and in brazil its hard to have those type of peripheals to test if theyre good, im in love with this controller and just dont wanna waste my money for something that isnt good, should i buy the dual sense?

Oh wow. Never played any of them or knew that they made more of them but distinctively remember the first one coming out.

I will do some from time to time, however, the way I do my "guides" and "tips videos", are in a manner that also functions as a great overview of what to ACTUALLY expect from a game. Also, they garner more views by being both helpful and informative.

I remember playing Gungrave OD. I really want the OG game but it's a li'l expensive. Regardless, G.O.R.E. is really scratching an itch for me.

It's on game pass if you have Xbox. My opinion would be wait for a sale if not. There are some incredibly frustrating levels due to poor design decisions.

If you're going for high Arts score, here is the full scoring system:
- Fury Mode kill = 40 (includes Storm Barrage kills)
- Death Hook Chase kill = 15
- RIP kill = 50 (60 when using Death Hook RIP chase and 30 for pull)
- Death Hauler combo ender kill = 60 (chainsaw kill is 30)
- Grab kill = 100 (0 for throw)
- Demolition Shot kill = 50 per point used (75 for each Horror's Quake + Executioner's Blood + Hellhound kill, 50 for each Graveyard kill)

Damn, I just couldn't get into this game, even tho it seems right up my alley. The combat definitely feels off for me, it feels way older, just like you said, I just don't feel it. Sad.
