- The memes in 2018 were ridiculous, like Thanos Car, Bowsette...Engines of Amtrak sorta... What else was crazy that year? The variety of leaser locomotives on CN ! From Former CSX Sticker Units to Warbonnet SD75Ms, There wasn't many dull moments when you were trackside on the Canadian National Railway in 2018.

It was an awesome year on the CN! I actually saw so many of the ex CSX C40-8Ws that I got bored of them. Until they disappeared, where I started to miss seeing them because they’d at least been different lol. What a great year to Railfan!
As for the leasers in this video, I saw one CITX SD70M-2 trailing, a handful of ex CREX CN ES44ACS, three bluebirds and multiple Dash 8s
Definitely agree it was fun to see the grey ex-leasers breaking up the monotony
I live near a CSX sub, and we have a CP Potash train that comes down every one in a while, ive heard talks of CN powering the potash train during the 2018s

We had PRLX9555 stored on the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad for a handful of years before it was scrapped last year

7:49 however as for CN 3974 it was spotted with a Conrail Graffiti Logo on the right side while the left side is none.
and for 3972 it still has it's CITIRAIL Logo

The CITX SD70M-2s were all scrapped in 2023, along with CIT's SD60Ms, most of the CIT SD90MACs have also been scrapped at this point. I believe most if not all of the PRLX SD75s and SD70MACs have also been scrapped.
Plrx 201 and 219 could be stored in fort smith arkansas. There is storage of plrx units there. But I can’t 100% confirm they are there
Yup. I remember them before I retired I 2019 in Hornepayne, Ont. Had a SD-70 Mac once still in demo scheme paint. Blue/silver/black # 8001. CN just put a "wet noodle" on the side. Nice unit. Leatherish seats. I liked the seats. CN took them out and installed fabric ones that just collect dust and if they get wet, GRRR! Had a UP unit trailing one day and it actually had windshield washer fluid.
As someone born in Labrador city, I love the use of a Cartier ac44 at 6:17.
The mining roads up there are awesome! Like the QNS&L, Wabush Lake, Arnaud, etc
@@TheWinnipegRailfanwhen I lived up there I always had to catch a QNS&L ore train when I could. It was an amazing part of my childhood. My cabin was also around 100 feet from the QNS&L main line, so me and my father would walk along side the tracks and look at signals to see if anything was coming.

Hey I happened to see NS 3982, it's sitting in Altoona by the road I'm not sure if it's going to get scrapped or repainted but it's a cool sight to see
I actually caught PRLX 219 and sister engine 200, along with PRLX 4002, an unknown GP40. This was back in March of 2021.

You dont know how much I miss that decade that was the 2010s I saw tons of great things like CN 8952 before repaint with GECX 7383 and a UP dash 9, also yes nobody asked but idc, also they killed the leasers. Also the CITX SD70M-2s were stored in St. Louis, MO and were allegedly scrapped.
2018 was the year Bluey aired, and also I think the TY the Tasmanian Tiger remaster was released.
I remember seeing 7332 on the CN Holly Sub trailing on a CN train. I thought it was funny.
All ex ATSF 75M's were killed.
Edit: I legit saw CSX 7376 back in 2018 with fresh paint with patch out along with its sticker.
This may be happening again, I've seen 3 HLCX leasers on CN trains.

Around 7:30, slight correction. Of the 125 CREX ES44ACs, CN bought 122. Of the 3 remaining, one had been scrapped prior and 2 had been sold to a company in Africa. I'll respond to myself after I look up specific numbers.
The units in question are CREX 1331 (scrap), CREX 1504, 1505. The latter 2 were sold to Arcelor in Liberia, and are lettered AMMC 1504 & 1505
Railroads don't lease them anymore... Just Buying used Locomotives for their Rebuild projects, and maybe reactivating old ones from Storage as an Interim. (In the case of CSX)

@@TheWinnipegRailfan CN bought all 12 they leased, have since repainted 8 into 31XX numbers. They still have 4 holes in the 31XX fleet for the remaining blueberries.
