The kid did more in 5 days than Gallagher, Mount and Phillips have done combined in their England career (pass sideways, lose the ball and commit fouls).

I said the same earlier. Still early days but Mainoo style of play does remind me too of Seedorf too. He has that self assured demeanour on the ball. He looks like a throwback baller hope it continues and his confidence contiunes to grow. Talent like this shouldnt be wasted
Hopefully he develops a howitzer of a shot from outside the box like Seedorf had in his locker. That would really round out his game.

He looks good. But it's way to soon to be dishing out all this praise. We haven't seen enough of him. Other than playing well he hasn't actually done very much.
He did very little last night. He wasn't the difference going forward not was he the difference going back. We conceded 2 goals with him playing (not his fault but people were screaming for his inclusion because he can defend) and the only goal from open play came as a result of the guy brought on to replace him.
Take him for the experience. Bring him on as sub when we're comfortably winning. But don't start him. Kid needs a few more years to get some experience and cement himself as a baller just like Bellingham did.

He’s been working on our youth teams since the day he came in and we are reaping the benefits now, the Man Utd u21s have an identical style to the Ajax team that everyone was so impressed by a few years back. You can see this in Kobbie’s game very similar to Frenkie De Jong and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
Re Mainoo As a arsenal fan I initially thought he was over hyped and doubted him but having watched him closer over the last few weeks he is a certified baller and could reach Bellingham levels in the next couple years maybe sooner. he’s stepped up and took to football at the international and premier league football like a duck to water . With all that’s happening at United and chaos in how they play at time makes him even more impressive to still affect games , if United can get someone like Everton’s Onana he will cook even further.

Lets be honest, bellingham just scores goals. Not as good technically. Different players.
Rate him highly, certainly one for the future. But I think everyone's over hyping him. As we've done for several players over the years. He's played decently and has stood out in a underperforming united squad but what's he actually done compared to other English midfielders this season? Very little.
He played well last night but we still conceded two. The only goal from open play came from our two most attacking and most creative and most inform players. One of which replaced Mainoo.
Maddison starts over Mainoo for me if we want to score goals and win something that is.

Maddison is competing with Mainoos spot. It's a midfield spot and Maddison is first and for most a midfielder. We don't have to play with 2 holding midfielder we could play with 2 attacking midfielders. Bellingham and rice are nailed on so in that case Maddison is competing with Mainoo. Because if either play it will certainly be without the other abs alongside rice and Bellingham. Maddison was actually Mainoos replacement last night. He came on for Mainoo.

If you saw him playing for United this year , you won’t be surprised at young Kobe , reminds me of a young Roy Keane but he actually tries to get the ball forward quicker, as a Liverpool fan, this kid is going to be the best United player coming through there academy since Scholes , the kid is unbelievable for his age, you have to start him for England, the one position that cost England the Euros , holding midfielder, Phillips was a disaster, could not get the ball forward from the center backs , Kobe breaks the lines very easily, he might end up playing like Thiago , he has unbelievable quick feet like our Thiago , might be a better talent than Jude , because this is the hardest position in Football!!

Bellingham will play as a 10 instead of Maddison , Bellingham has been performing at his best higher up the pitch for Madrid so would make no sense moving him back to accommodate Maddison - better balance with Mainoo anyway , especially in the big games he keeps the ball aswel as anyone who England have and also wins the ball back better than most .

It doesn't need to be one or the other playing as a 10. Bellingham doesn't need to drop back so Maddison can go forward. They can both play advanced rolls up the pitch. like they did last night after Maddison came on for Mainoo, both combining to create our only goal from free play.
I like Mainoo. Certainly one to watch for the future. I'd certainly take him. But he's not what we need right now and he lacks the experience. What we need is creativity and ability going forward and there's better players for that. We've done the double pivot thing for years now and it hasn't worked. Didn't work last night either. Belgium I'd argue is a big game. Ball control, hold up play all worthless if he lacks the experience to do something with it. Again as we saw last night.

Whats dangerous about mainoo is if you stay off him he'll run into space and make a problem.. if you come to him he has the vision to pass to someone in space still creating a problem.. when he gets the ball he always looks like he's in space because i think he has people in two minds in what is he going to do because not only can he run into spaces and pass into spaces he can also take on one or 2 players.. united need to build a team around him in the middle.. and england have rice and Bellingham i mean thats just almost a perfect combination in the middle..

We are fine at right-back and left-back is fairly okay but could be stronger but we have no depth at centre-half... It's a very weak position and I would play Walker there if we get injuries... We also have no depth up front, if Kane gets injured, the drop-off below him is absolutely massive... We have a lot of good goalkeepers but not a great one so we could do with finding a baller there too!

As a Manchester United fan I want Mainoo far away from that England squad in the summer. He's young he's not used to playing at this intensity so for the good of his development and health he should be resting for a bit he's still growing so we just need to take care of Mainoo. We don't need him getting injured. He has done so well for Manchester United but as I said he should have some time off to rest and then build. I don't think he should be playing international football until he is 21. He needs to focus on football and keeping humble.

The only issue is he's too attacking for southgate... he didn't put a foot wrong and still subbed off in an attempt to move Bellingham further back, but luckily he's bigger than England so can do what he likes. Southgates by far the worst manager I've ever witnessed in football
Tactically, England should play more of a 4-3-3 than a 4-2-3-1, with Bellingham-Rice-Mainoo interchanging as 6s and 8s with more freedom for Jude to push further up as a 10 at times... Saka-Foden-Kane should be in attack but the fullbacks should not just do overlaps but get into midfield as well.
Two warm up games and zero minutes for Palmer and Branthwaite, two of the best performers this season.

But with players like maddison, bowen, tony and kane upfront and also watkins for more pace and more players with a better manager England with the age of the team england should be dominating the next few years.. and should already have a trophy already

Midfield was set two weeks ago, Mainoo is the only ball playing midfielder in the country. People saying the issue is defence are ignoring how slow Kane will make this team. No option at CB other than Maguire & Stones anyway. A lot of talk about Southgate style of play, but Kane is best as a hold up player with his back to goal, you need Saka on the right for pace behind him, but for the same reason that means Foden is not a lock on the left. Foden struggles for not having an out & out position, Kane, Bellingham & Foden all trying to occupy similar spaces, no one in behind doesn't work, slows us down. It also creates a reliance on an overloaded midfield & a perfect last pass, when most international teams play a low block. That's why Rashford may play, he's quicker and better going the other way. His form needs to improve his form badly for England's sake. Luke Shaw is a massive miss too, Chilwell is nowhere near his level & options there are suddenly poor. The left side is a bigger issue than CB or Midfield
