If Bowen doesn't go I'll be pissed off, properly pissed off. I didn't expect to be saying this as I hadn't seen much of him but if someone gives me that much commitment, skill and pace in a friendly then what the hell are they going to do when it matters. Has to go and Mainoo too obviously. Seriously impressed with Bowen's attitude thoughm it was just brilliant to see. It ought to be a template for how to go from the fringes of a squad to booking your ticket.
The fact that 2 out of 3 pundits leave Grealish out just illustrates what strength in depth there is relative to 10 years ago when a player with that natural ability would have probably been a dead cert to start every game.
yeah unfortunately just not enough game time right now. He has been brilliant when he plays for england and for city but injuries stopping him right now. If he was playing every game for city he would be in.

I don't see how Gallagher warrants a place in the squad, brings nothing apart from a good engine and simple sideways passes. Need cover at the back, left back area a concern if Shaw not fit. Think it'll be Gordon or Rashford not both. Liked Bowen's performance running at people. The main part of the squad picks itself but 4/5 spaces up for grabs.
For a 23 man squad, drop Mguire, Henderson, Dunk, Watkins. 3 goalkeepers, Kane, Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Toney, Madison, Rice, Walker, Stones, Bowen,Mainoo,Gomez, Guehi,Palmer,James,Shaw, Trent, konsa , Gordon,Chilwell.

Agreed, Konsa didn't put a foot wrong and gives versatility playing CB and RB smooth on the ball and used to playing for a team that plays from the back.

@@TimComley Yeah, I listed my alternatives after the England game, on several sites. i won't do it again. Suffice to say, I would sooner watch the u21s. I do watch them. They are a better watch than England. 20 goals in last 3 games, 32 goals in 7 qualifying games.. They play like 2000s Spain but on speed. Some of the most creative football I've seen. If it was up to me, Carsley would be England manager.

Gomez will likely make it because of his versatility across the back line. I’d pick Stones, Guehi, Gomez and Tomori, and maybe one of Colwill or Konsa.

You can’t say he’s not as good or better than some of the other English centre backs. In club football he has a better CV than all of them aside from John Stones who has achieved more. One season he was the best English CB in Europe. And he plays for one of the most historic clubs and with that comes pressure.
Milan and Serie A just gets disrespect from England nowadays when it shouldn’t.

The centre backs is our weakness and I would look at dropping Rice back into the back four, he's played there and would strengthen the team. Going forward is our strength if GS allows them to play?not sure about Gomez, Trent Alexander or dunk, so a fit Walker is essential.

@@joshd8777 The whole team was terrible in the last two games but Bowen was one of the only players actually trying to do something. Unless Rashford can get in behind he's absolutely useless. He never passes and opts to run into multiple opponents instead, always goes for the wonder goal instead of laying it off, refuses to track back and when he does he gives up incredibly easily and has a generally shocking attitude on the field.
Rashford will still be on the plane... If Southgate started him against France... they would have lifted the World Cup...

Don't know why everyone is so negative of course southgate knows his best squad for the euros. We have gotten to see how left footed cbs, branthwaite and colwill, may add use to this squad, we saw just how good dunk is, we saw tomori play for england and finally achieve something outside of a measly serie a with one of the biggest clubs ever. We know palmer is going to continue his chelsea form with the england squad, we saw foden play in the middle of the park and definitely not over congest the middle playing pass after pass going nowhere and we saw rashford can continue his great england form even when he isn't at his very best for united.
I stopped reading after "of course Southgate knows his best squad for the Euros" - doesn't seem that way at all...
