Wow, those shots in the snow. Beautiful. Lol at Shaun's "shut the f**k up Colin" face. Haha. It's nice to be around someone when they're a laugh and make you laugh but every now and then it can get a little too much. Probably like only 5% of the time. Other 95% it's all good fun :) My Molly dog played in the snow for the first time this year and she was just as giddy

We both love your innuendos and Shaun’s laughter, no wonder your so close.
Having only boated while on holiday we had one year when the canal froze solid in February, we carried on sailing because it was not our boat, but we were cutting through ice half an inch thick in places. We did use a lot more fuel though not only to get the boat through the ice, also for the heating.
One morning, I rolled over for a cuddle and my bare bum touched the hull, God was that cold. I made sure I had a spare pillow between the bed and the hull, no more cold bum.

The snow looks beautiful but I’m glad I live in coastal Florida. Was 15 and in prep school in north Georgia before I ever saw snow! Liked it then for about an hour. Stay warm and well boys!

Seriously, though, one question I have after watching this is, is in-floor heating an option for narrow boats? Everything else you described sounds very livable (well, maybe not being handcuffed to the bed🤔😄), but I cannot abide cold feet!
You can do almost anything in a boat but you have to consider the power. Don’t forget, you’re relying on batteries.

I love watching snow fall..... from the comfort of my lounge with a large picture window between me and the snow.... with a warm snuggly blanket and a warm drink, either hot chocolate or tea close to hand. I'm getting too old to be out in the cold for long periods. But I won't move away from an area that has all 4 seasons throughout the year. And we had an overnight temperature 2 nights ago of -23 degrees C. The video of Otis seeing for the first time was cute and funny. I got a good giggle watching it.

Colin and Shaun..... I've watched this episode again. I am amazed at how monochromatic the aerial snow images and DSLR images of the countryside are with the overcast skies. Really interesting footage. Beautiful. Love Ottis' romp in the snow for the first time.

Lovely video and as a full time boater in my third winter I agree with all you say. My boat seems similar to yours (though a bit older, 2003) but I have almost identical facilities and you're right, it is warm inside, the water tank doesn't freeze, the engine always starts, and the fuel boats are brilliant. I tried a winter mooring for my first winter but in my opinion it's a waste of money and anyway, the idea of being a continuous cruiser is to keep cruising!

I remember as a 10 year old seeing an Icebreaker on Coventry canal, motor powered but with about 10 men on each side literally rocking the boat, I'm 65 now so I don't think I'll ever see that again

A very insightful vlog about winter on a canal boat, but please don't tell too many people about the High Peak or we will be over run😉
You made mention of a mangle and my father was curious about the workings of one and was daft enough to put his hand in between the rollers with the result that he lost the end of one of his fingers😨 His party piece for children was to put the remaining half his finger up his nose much to their amazement!
Interestingly enough before the lockdowns the local car wash had an old mangle to squeeze out the chamois leathers. Me trying to tell the foreign operatives to be careful of their fingers was worthy of a comedy sketch😂

While I am totally anti-snow, it sure looks pretty . I’m a Harley traveler, so that can explain my anti-snow feelings. I did 35,000 miles last year and this year seems like I’ll do more. I’ve got 3 trips planned for the year and the shortest is 2000 miles to and from the Devil’s Highway in Arizona. That also includes sight seeing while there.

First time seeing your channel. Great fun. There is nothing like the wonderful slow pace of life on a canal boat and people are usually so friendly and laid back (as long as you kill your speed past their boat!) We are hoping like mad the lockdown will be lifted by end of April so we can go on the holiday that was rolled over from last April, after all I can’t think of a more socially distanced holiday 😁
