The camera dude following monster riders deserves gold 😂
That backside 1440 japan from Dusty was my favorite. That backside 1620 from Yiming Su was also a bomb, judges should show more sympathy for tricks and not more sympathy for riders. To sum it up, it was a great slopestyle competition. So fun to watch.
X Games is awesome not just for the competition but because of the competent announcers. This is impeccable broadcasting when you compare it to Dew Tour announcers showing overt bias towards Red Gerard (who only wins when everyone else falls) and calling every 2nd trick by the wrong name. The fact that Craig can be less biased towards his brother than other broadcasters are towards their countrymen, tells you a lot.
Craig is one of my favorite announcers any sport!

Dusty for the win in all the disciplines this year!
He is the only one with style and steez left in xgames.
But apparently xgames becoming more and more like ski fristyle. I would not be surprised if Marks fashion of choice next year would be lycra, so he could add another 180 to his spins.
It’s amazing how little stoke he brings whit so advanced spins.

Ok Dusty’s first run was the definition of effortless… good god the man barely lifted a finger to put that run down…
My son's first snowboard. He likes it a lot. We use it on the hill in our backyard, so nothing serious or hardcore.

3rd jump - Back 16

McMorris (Regular)
Flat down rail - Cab 270 transfer disaster pull back
Down rail - Front 270, 270 out
Flat rail - Switch BS nose slide
Down rail - Switch BS 270
First jump - Cab double cork 9
2nd jump - Front double cork 9
3rd jump - Switch back 16
4th jump - Back 16
My opinion - McMorris should NOT have won. Why? Answer:
McMorris’s rail section had the transfer to start. 🔥
Other than that, when you break it down, Kleveland’s was basically just as impressive.
So that’s prob even.
Jumps:
Both pulled FS 900s on the first jump. McMorris’s was cab.
Kleveland pulled a 1260 on the 2nd jump, McMorris only a 900.
Both pulled 16s on the last two jumps. Both did one regular and one switch.
BUT, Kleveland spun two different directions. BS 16 and cab 16. McMorris spun both backside.
I get it’s hard to be a judge but this is a no brainer for me.
Watching it the first time I questioned it but now I’m sure. Unless someone who really knows what they’re talking about can change my mind, Klevelnd should have had gold.
Thanks for the breakdown! Spinning back 16 then cab 16 is spinning the same direction, when mark did both directions which the judges were looking for (left and right spins). Also Mark did more switch during his rails, went higher on the jumps, and second 16 looked fire. Also Marcus’s hand touched on his 12
Touché. McMorris did hit 3 rails switch to Kleveland's 1.
However, Kleveland's rotation on rails was 1,350 to McMorris's 1,080.
To your point, McMorris did show he could spin 16s both directions. While Kleveland showed that he can spin 16s off both edges.
No way to do a FS & BS 16 different directions w/o reverting - that's a no no. Though, if a revert was done on purpose for that reason, I wonder if the judges wouldn't take points off (prob not).
Also, you would lose too much speed and at that point, just do an 1,800.
Anyway, I would say it's equal on the 16s, but apparently not to the judges. As you said, they are looking for spins both directions, but I would think heels and toes is just as impressive as left and right.
McMorris's total jump rotations were 5,040, while Kleveland's was 5,400. Even with a slight hand drag I would think a back 12 would earn more points than front 9.
Kleveland total run rotation =
Rails: 1,350
Jumps: 5,400
Total: 6,750
McMorris total run rotation =
Rails: 1,080
Jumps: 5,040
Total: 6,120
A difference of 630 degrees goes to Kleveland.
Watching again, McMorris did have more amplitude on a some of the kickers, but it's not an astronomical difference.

Yeah watching pretty much every rider throw front/back double 9 off the first too jumps was so boring

Yea I kinda stopped watching a couple years ago for this reason. Too many repeat tricks. I love riders like halldor
More steez PLZ! I'm tired of The announcers not knowing the tricks or calling the tricks as they happen. They only call out the same repetitive "spin it to win" it tricks.
