I still am going to watch and enjoy but I can see it get derailed quickly as well.
Lilith got bored with psychiatry, went to law school at Columbia, & became a feminist lawyer, which is how she met Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. They had an affair which didn't last long as Frank's a sentimental family man who never really got over the loss of his wife. Lilith was just too steely for him & a bit too skinny as well. She also bombed at the Reagan Sunday dinner. They all hated her, especially Erin. But when she finds out Frasier's back & living with Freddy, she'll probably hightail it back to Boston. 😁
I want to see how they explain her dealing with Frederick dropping out of Harvard to become a fireman. No way in hell would Lilith have out up with that!
At the moment I am still holding my judgement on the new characters bar one. And that is David. I think that character has a huge problem. Of course I see the appeal of bringing to the show someone familiar (he was born in the last season of old Frasier) yet pretty much new (he was born in the last season of old Frasier). But the problem is that he is lacking any basic premise. What is his role in the show and his personality? In old Frasier the characters were perfectly characterized and given their roles from the start: Niles was "exactly like Frasier, only more so", he was the mirror in which Frasier could see his own flaws and hypocrisies without realizing it, he was the rival sibling and best friend at the same time - in short an equal with whom one can share anything. Martin was a "polar opposite" and friendly antagonist to Frasier, they had almost nothing in common apart from the small fact that they were family, and both out of love and out of sense of familial duty they had to strive to bridge that gap. Daphne was a cuckoolander whose emotional and instinctive ways were a sharp contrast to the "science" of Frasier's psychiatry, the same goes for her "working class" upbringing and to a small degree even her foreign background, her role was from a subservient position to try and smooth things between Frasier and Martin and at the same time to be an object of Nile's infatuation - which was a stroke of genius on the writers' part. Roz was another counterpart and opposite to Frasier but this time in one specific aspect, that was nevertheless extremely important because it constituted the main premise of the show: and that was Frasier's bad luck in love life and his general approach to the opposite sex. But what is David? He admires Frasier and thats it. Yes, he is physically clumsy and a slight cuckoolander after his parents but neither of that is enough for characterisation or for defining his role in the show. There is no premise of any "dramatic conflict" that would create many interesting stories in the future. I've seen such characters before and they usually with time evaporate from their sitcoms: the youngest sibling Brendan Lambert from Step By Step is one classic example.
Watched the 1st episode and aside from the Freddy's actor its actual pretty good. One criticism i do have is Frasiers lack of fashion. Wtf happened to his nice suits, now hes dressed like a 30 year old introvert
Does anyone know if the Baby Grand in Frasier’s apartment is the same one from the original series ??? As some know, Kelsey purchased the original from the Frasier set after the series ended, as a momento & moved it to his FL home, it would be so Nostalgic if it were the same piano !!!
I saw the 1st episode and the 2nd episode and they are hysterical! Freddy lied about his father's death, just like Frasier did when he told people at cheers that his dad died. :) Frasier found a letter that says Freddy is his son! 😂😂😂😂 David is so sweet. He reminds me of both his mom and dad! :)
I didn't think they were hysterical at all. Actually, I found nothing exciting or new or anything for that matter. I got nothing out of it. I wonder why is there even a re-boot of it in the first place? I don't think it was necessary.
The goy-washing of Frederick into Freddie the fireman. The head of a department at Harvard would never come by and help cook dinner. I don't buy anything about Eve - she is the sudden single mother who lost her partner, but instead she's hopping around smiling without a care in the world. For a show about a psychiatrist, they don't do grief well.
@@omegamanGXE writing, editing, camera work, casting. It's all wrong. Kelsey grammar cannot carry all of these people. Evident diversity hiring nonsense as well.
My brain made the weirdest association from this scene to the premiere episode of the 1982 BBC comedy The Young Ones. As ostensibly Russian landlord Jerzei Balowski, comedian Alexei Sayle breaks the fourth wall after the other characters exit and reveals to the viewers in a Cockney accent that he is not foreign, he merely does it to appear more sophisticated. The entire monologue is a mere eight sentences, but in it he mentions both pipe-fitters and ABBA, the group whose music became the story of Mamma Mia.
@@lenawagenfuehr53 Source? In that same episode, the character appears nervous when Mike tells him that some representatives of the Moscow Dynamos ice hockey team had been by looking for him, implying that he had defected while the team toured the UK. Then after the others depart, Balowski tells the viewer he's not foreign at all. So from the dialogue in this appearance, he's British pretending to be Russian. Sayle played other members of the same family throughout the series, with different accents, including a South African vampire. But the only Balowski family member who recurred was Jerzei, the landlord, who appeared in three out of twelve episodes, I believe.

This is just so sad. (1) The writing is terrible. Laugh track every 3-4 lines? So forced. (2) The sets are darkly lighted, unlike the bright vibrant set of the original. (3 and 4) Freddy is simply not believable. Nor is the laugh track (what happened to the idea of a live audience?). (5) Frazier is now a gazillionaire? How relatable! Not great. I think a better storyline would be if Frasier had fallen on hard times, with some dark humour a la Fleabag. Take a chance! I saw the first episode and it was very flat. Ok, the fitst ep of Seattle Frasier wasnt the best but Niles and Martin were and are irreplaceable. I would loved to have seen a totally different direction, like with the Cheers/Frasier changes.
The writers of this new version are not in tune with this show!! The writing is absolutely horrible. If I were a fire fighter Id be pretty pissed off. And to denegrate Lillith was so inexcusable. This show version will not make it if they don't make it intelligent and stop the insults it is a waste of time and a poor way to respect the high quality of the actors who made it a hit. No wonder David Hyde Pierce isn't returning as Niles. Kelsey should know better as well.
I really liked the Niles character from the original but absolutely couldn't stand the relationship with Daphne storyline. I also hated the Jim Pam thing on the office. Am i the only one who feels this way about these cheezy tension building relationship deals on sitcoms????
I've got two theories as to why the firefighters are written the way they are 1. Frasier, Freddie and three of the supporting characters are smart enough to get into Harvard or Oxford so from their point of view the firefighters might come off as dumb even though I believe you need a college degree to become a firefighter (also these firefighters are probably drunk so they might be smarter when sober). 2. One of the jobs that a character had in the original show was police detective (until he was given a medical discharge) so I imagine that the writers are trying to hold on to the fans of the original who liked Martin as a police detective by portraying their rivals (the fire department) as a bunch of idiots. Again those are just my theories and it's more likely the writers are getting rid of some of their dumb jokes, even the original show had some dumb ones like frequently making fun of British cooking when there's a lot of chefs from over there who are fantastic.

So Frazier never did anything for Freddie. Who wrote this episode/show, the Three Stooges?
Frasier... it's in the title! Why do people continually get it wrong?!
Frasier wasn't really a good father, he wasn't in Freddy's life that much, as he lived clear across the country. So, to me, he was an absent father.
Every father was a pipe fitter 😂
At the moment I am still holding my judgement on the new characters bar one. And that is David. I think that character has a huge problem. Of course I see the appeal of bringing to the show someone familiar (he was born in the last season of old Frasier) yet pretty much new (he was born in the last season of old Frasier). But the problem is that he is lacking any basic premise. What is his role in the show and his personality? In old Frasier the characters were perfectly characterized and given their roles from the start:
Niles was "exactly like Frasier, only more so", he was the mirror in which Frasier could see his own flaws and hypocrisies without realizing it, he was the rival sibling and best friend at the same time - in short an equal with whom one can share anything.
Really like your analysis and how you summed it up.
Watched the 1st episode and aside from the Freddy's actor its actual pretty good. One criticism i do have is Frasiers lack of fashion. Wtf happened to his nice suits, now hes dressed like a 30 year old introvert
Freddy is played by an outstanding English actor
@@AllisonLansberryyeah but the material he has to work with isn’t the finest quality
They goy-washed Frederick into a Martin clone. It makes no sense.
Does anyone know if the Baby Grand in Frasier’s apartment is the same one from the original series ???
As some know, Kelsey purchased the original from the Frasier set after the series ended, as a momento & moved it to his FL home, it would be so Nostalgic if it were the same piano !!!
ah full circle... frasier todl sam his own dad died when sam visited him in seattle..
Exactly.Same concept of misinterpreting situations to create comedy.
I didn't think they were hysterical at all. Actually, I found nothing exciting or new or anything for that matter. I got nothing out of it. I wonder why is there even a re-boot of it in the first place? I don't think it was necessary.
@@voiceguy3635 That's always been that way! Even way back to the three's company era. :) That's never going to change.
@@adrastos761 Oh that's too bad. Well, I'm sure you can find a comedy that will make you laugh. :)
Is that Steven? Just Steve.
The series was notorious for some of the best writing, and still holds up.
Frasier is so compassionate. Watching the reruns of the original, I never appreciated it before.
All three professions start with a P.
Frasier is back. I love it.
How do I get the sound..
Cannot express how much I am loving the new series ❤❤❤❤
You must be watching a different show from me
@@johnmc2514what don’t you like about it? I’m ambivalent but I can’t put my finger on why
Alexei character was Albanian, like he is
@@lenawagenfuehr53 Source? In that same episode, the character appears nervous when Mike tells him that some representatives of the Moscow Dynamos ice hockey team had been by looking for him, implying that he had defected while the team toured the UK. Then after the others depart, Balowski tells the viewer he's not foreign at all. So from the dialogue in this appearance, he's British pretending to be Russian. Sayle played other members of the same family throughout the series, with different accents, including a South African vampire. But the only Balowski family member who recurred was Jerzei, the landlord, who appeared in three out of twelve episodes, I believe.
Sad man. A legendary show being ruined by the people that wrote for How I met your Mother - which l
Has to be one of the most unfunny sitcoms to ever be broadcast. Watching it was like watching a slow motion car crash
So why did you watch it? 🤔🤣🤤
@@funshine817 well, if I hadn't watched It, then I wouldn't have pointed all of these things out. You fucking trumpet. 🤣
@@johnmc2514 You missed my point you fucking idiot! 😛🤡 You are clearly a masochist to watch a show you were hating. 😔😩 Then, naturally, you have to whine to the world, like a little baby, that it was not to your liking. Awww does the little baby need his blankie and bottle? Your opinion is 💩💩 What a narcissist... you better make a complaint to the writers for ruining the original. What a pathetic, brainwashed, sheep mentality to not be able to separate the two shows, and actually think they ruined the first Frasier. Sad. Lots of fake "I'm loving this show paid trolls here. It's flat acting, writing and just chasing the past glory. One season only.
Such lazy writing too. Let's take the old formula of Frasier moving in with a blue collar relative and milk it for laughs...🤮
I'm glad other people notice the fake comments. I feel like they're filling the comment section of every new thing that comes out.
I just can't believe why Freddy lied to them that his dad died 👈. His dad is sitting right next to him this is really embarrassing 😳
frasier lied about his dad back in cheers? full circle.. he told the gang he died if u recall when sam visited.
@@AccidentalPreppper He had also said his father was a scientist. I guess Freddie has more in common with his Dad then he thought.
Or the writers of Cheers never thought Frasier would have a spinoff, so the Frasier writers had to pull something together. It wasn't explained until the episode where Sam visits Frasier, not machine gunned into the wall in the second episode like here...
❤ u Kels ,congrats! Worth the wait! 🎉
Cheers🍸
Wish l could make the Boston Cheers Trivia night!!
Search your feelings Freddy, you know it to be true.
they could have written the script in so many ways, they chose this nonsense.. Only the first cast and the first 11 seasons were good. Sadly Niles and Daphne didn’t return to this part. Uninteresting
Frasier couldn't go two whole episodes without shitting on Lilith 😂
I find that a little odd since they kind of patched things up in her last appearance on the original show and I think he called her in the last episode to tell her how things were going.
@@jonathanbarr9764 It's probably habit at this point.
@@Saiyanprince1114 Yeah probably, I would assume that even though he hasn't seen or heard from Maris in twenty years (I'm rounding up) he still has plenty of insults for her. Granted she deserves it a lot more than Lilith does but still.
Don’t know why y’all hating. The reboot got its own charm. You saying you don’t like the Mama Mia joke.
Thought it was shit personally. If people can get on board with this, good for them. Between the mugging/laugh track acting and the dialogue/jokes that could be from any other sitcom on television, I will pass.
@@InaudibleSlinky same. It’s on a streaming service for a reason.
It's shockingly poor writing. Fucking insanity, giving the reins to this show to the people involved in writing that shit heap of a show how I met your mother
@@johnjaybonstingl9007streaming services allow way more creative freedom though than network television. See: Dexter, Breaking Bad, Mr. Robot, The Leftovers, etc
I'm happy to see Frasier again, but the young cast is all wrong, starting with "Freddie"
Disappointed in the first episode. Not Burrows or Grammers best work. New actors seem as they are trying too hard, too much stage acting. Way to much laugh track at bad jokes
You nailed it...couldn't agree more
I love it I haven't seen Frasier in such a long time
This is just so sad. (6) How many times was the name Harvard dropped in the first episode? How relatable! (7) This show is just . . . Bad. I had really hoped for more. I cannot see this iteration of Frazier lasting beyond the first season. If it were on network television, it would have been pulled by now. Ah, is that why it’s on a streaming service, maybe?? Makes me sad.
I believe that is a live audience laughing. I know it was filmed with one.
You clearly never watched the original show if you expect Frasier to be the relatable one.
What is sad is your inability to differentiate a laugh track from a live studio audience. Why? What happened?
How can you persistently misspell the name of the title character? Other than that, I agree with your critique
Rewatch thr original, this is ancient gold
Oh so boring, let sleeping dogs etc etc this is a case of.......wrong
Love it😂
Thanks for laughs God bless you.
Why his son is the only one not in uniform?
I know this has nothing to do with the show, but it just occurred to me that the actors' strike is still going on, so, how can this show be on?
At least he had a dad
The writers of this new version are not in tune with this show!! The writing is absolutely horrible. If I were a fire fighter Id be pretty pissed off. And to denegrate Lillith was so inexcusable. This show version will not make it if they don't make it intelligent and stop the insults it is a waste of time and a poor way to respect the high quality of the actors who made it a hit. No wonder David Hyde Pierce isn't returning as Niles. Kelsey should know better as well.
Black screen
Why would Freddy take in a colleagues partner and infant child. It makes no sense. And the guy who plays him is the worst actor
Thats the most unnatural bar setting I've ever scene. And nobody seems like they are drinking.
How many episodes and seasons are scheduled for Fraiser.
'bout tree fiddy
Firefighters

It was absolutely hilarious!
It's lost its spark. Shame.
Fraiser is starting a new life in Boston, after starting a new life in Seattle, so he is back in Boston, starting a new life. When will he have a life he likes and stops starting over and over. Were also led to believe Charlotte kicked him out??? something like that? LOL. Frasier, get a life.....
I'm from Boston and so fuxking sick of this city being in tv and movies.
Kelsey Grammar is still brilliant in this role. But the writing and the new characters aren’t up to much. This won’t get past one season.
My impression exactly.
I guess Davis Angell was a very important person in the making of Frasier.
The casting is horrible. The actor playing Freddy has a hair implant that is hideous. The laugh track is turned all the way up to 10 on every unfunny line and Kelsey Grammer's VOICE IS SHOT TO HELL! What a disaster. David Hyde Pierce was indeed a wise man to avoid this.
I protest the ethnic insensitivity - what happened to the spelling bee winning good Jewish boy Frederick?
One minute from Fraiser is funny!😄
