What's the best hatchback ever made? We know... do you?
96-00 Civic Hatch
Citroen saxo 👍
VW polo MK2 breadvan
Guessing it's not the GTI down
Toyota Yaris
Nearly chocked on a goat when Moog removed the lock from the clockspring and wildly span it.
No Clocksprings harmed in the making of this video, It was recentred before fitment, Newer VW clocksprings even have a window to show you if the Ribbon cable is in the right spot.
Moog pro move
I was looking for this comment 😂
Ditto...
You did what to what when what happened? FFS.
@11:05 way to go Moog now you need a new clock spring
i was saying the same thing.....whys it got a lock on it?......so idiots dont spin it maybe
ROFL hence why it had the lock on it
Can assure you its fine. it was re centred before install
@@myles7172 he was lucky and spun it the right way to not break it lol
It still might fail early, that's the whole point of the red LOCK, you ONLY take it off when you are installing the steering wheel.
Well I wasn’t expecting that intro 😂😂😂😂
Made me chuckle a bit 😂
Same, totally got me giggling
How good was it! Haha
Having replaced multiple clock springs I knew immediately that it was going to end badly
My kids came running in because they thought I was watching the wiggles 😂
Wow wrecked the clock spring right out the box lol
It's 2034 and Moog is still finding parts to finish the UP GTi
And I’ll still be watching.
The start stop function that everyone turns off when they get in the car is the main problem 😂
I know right, i had it disabled in the ECU. The only thing it does, is cause problems.
I have a VW of this generation and keep it enabled. I don't understand why people think it's annoying, the engine starts in about 0.3 seconds.
@@TheBorre It is annoying for many reasons, jerking when quickly setting off, depending on the model AC turning off in the summer, it killed the battery in about 4 years and it was 300€ to replace, it causes additional engine wear, turns off the power steering pump and so on.
I have a 2021 polo GTI and I hate the stop/start on it it's annoying and is just an unnecessary item that is an expensive fault waiting to happen
@@mrvoorhees2627 Lmao i have a 2017 Polo GTI, its bad yeah, thats why i had it disabled.
Martin's "IN THE BIN" Gets me every time!! 😂😂😂
The clock spring usually has a cable between both terminals. It’s designed to reach from lock to lock on the steering wheel from it’s home position. If you turn it around you are asking for trouble as now it may not reach and break.
Watching him take the lock off and spin it around several times made me CRINGE
I had to look away when I saw that 😂
Yeah in for a bad time
I almost fell out of my chair when I saw him spin it.
Another part to order (again).
⚠ Most clock springs have actuall wires inside and cant be spun infinitely around or youll brake it you have to delicately center it before you put the steering wheel back on 👌
Nooooo don't do that to the clock spring hahahaha 😂
came here to say the exact thing. When he started spinning it my face went to 😨😰😱
Its amazing how much work you did customizing a stock car and turning it into a stock car.
And money.
A whole lot of spending money 💰
Exactly, they could have bought a 5th gen Honda City 1.0 turbo petrol VTEC for an absolute fraction of the price.
😂👌🏼
Vag commander is probably the best guest mechanic name so far, thats hilarious.
I literally shouted "DONT!!" as Moog removed the lock from the clock spring and spun it around 🤣. I remember doing that on my old Impreza coupe and needing to get another.
The intro song... brilliant. Love to watch you guys on work breaks. Just the right amount of good tunes, comedy and cars... best 4x4 off road channel by far
"I'm not going to be spending time much in there, but your mum will be" Classic Moog, never change!
Friday ✅ Knocked off early ✅ Beer in hand ✅ MCM Posted a video ✅ Life's gooood
Out of all the fantastic music I've enjoyed on MCM that intro is my favourite.
When I test drove a Up GTI in Wales I was BLOWN AWAY by how great it was on the twisties. And once a bit of money was put into suspension, brakes and tyres it was honestly some of the most fun I've ever had because the engine was fast enough for the car to feel fast but slow enough so that you'd have to really drive it hard.
With a little remap its a monster.
I love mine
That intro was amazing
Yeah I mean I always thought the music on MCM was kinda great, but that took it to a whole new level. When's the album and the tour?!?
@@mysticgreg All Moogs music is on spotify.
Proof that money really is the best superpower
11:00 you just broke that clock spring ….
Totally thought the same thing I was cringing like duck
WHY! The lock was RED for a reason
@@bmoreno2480 exactly oh look a lock off it goes and spin spin spin 🙄 🤣
I say the extact same thing. Couldn't believe he did that. I've seen some of those clock springs go for over 2500 dollars.
People in the comments defending it lol it’s funny.
OMG Moog, when you took the lock of the clock spring and spun it, hubby (former mechanic-type person, at a panel beaters, who replaced a ton of clock springs on cars) almost died, lol.
My boss would have kicked my behind so hard my legs would of left the ground 😂
Can't believe this has become one of the bigger mcm projects.
Its amazing to see the level of engineering that goes into building 2 different options of the car and how much it changes over the years of being produced
I was like wow he just destroyed the clock spring right out the box but then I remembered things like the magic hand 😂
Moog's kid-like excitement level is infectious. 😁
Black interiors look premium - like they mean business. You can't convince me otherwise.
One of the few purely aesthetic mods I did to my WRX wagon back in the day was wrap the headliner in black suede and paint all the pillars black and put black S202 inspired black dash trim. Made it feel like a sports car instead of the cheapo economy car that it really was.
I work in a VW dealership in Brazil and all this work that you guys are doing I do everyday in my job. The interior plastic parts itls like a puzzle. I'm having fun whatching this episodes of this convertion, good job guys!!!
The dry rear wiper was hilarious
The interior installation is like ASMR. Hatches are the best.
As a Up GTI Owner myself it has been great watching this series and how you are making your own down under!
🤦♂️ omg.... I've had the side dack for nearly years now and always wondered how to turn the bloody top around 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Moog
Instruction manuals are great. 😅
These guys work so hard to upgrade these cars the right way, and the performance, and appeal--- and the effort always seems so massive for something, that I would never consider doing.
Great build series guys! What a beautiful car, and now you know to work on every aspect of the Up! And now anybody that wants to know how to work on an UP can watch your build series and do it their self.
You can fit the sun visors from a Polo mk5 gti. The vanity lights won't light up but they're the same interior black as the Up gti and you get covers for the vanity mirrors. I did it to my Up gti, it's a nice little mod.
Good idea, I'll look into that
Wow that intro was kinda like I went back to play skool 😅 but I loved every second of it, fun and shenanigans!
Surely The Vag Commander needs his own series of MCM merch!!!
That Limerick at the start was class, Moog should do this more often
Lovin' the Up content. It's a massive overcapitalisation on a nugget, just like Marty's Mira, but such a cool car after all the work.
The clock spring needs to be centred properly (why there was a lock on it) to prevent damage to wiring etc when turning the wheel
9:03 when are we getting the VAG commander soundtrack :D LOL
This episode just had me laughing at work while watching... you guys are just amazing. Its like we know you for so many years despite the fact that we've never met, and it's still an amazing feeling. This build has been so much fun to watch. Thanks mates.
Such a technical puzzle! The amount of thinking and rethinking looks incredible. So good to see how much goes into a project car. Well done for making it a fun challenge with a great outcome!
The amount of patience shown is unfathomable. Have a drink every time Moog says "oh im waiting on parts from Germany because xxxx isnt compatible"
Love you guys commitment to doing something that difficult and time consuming. Love what you guys do and it inspires me to wrench on my 88' toyota pickup
Your positivity and excitement is infectious. You always motivate me so much. I love your passion, man. Good luck and here's hoping for a start up soon!
Well now I’m gonna expect a kid show style intro to every MCM video
A good equivalent for "bellissimo" in German is "ausgezeichnet" which just means excellent. Looking forward to seeing you rip around in the Up!
"SpitzenKlasse" 😂
The UP GTI is epic. Loving this build so much!
I love this channel. Great balance of fun goofing off and quality automotove knowledge.
I seriously love the music you guys mix!!! It makes y'alls videos next level!!!
This series has been a wonderful mix of what I started watching 14 odd years ago and what I’ve now grown to love a new flavor of!
Watching you guys work on that Up, makes me truly appreciate my 2018 MPI 😍
Love the abstract hiphop "nujabeslike", changes a lot and brings some nostalgia ! thanks a lot
Watching from Portugal (Europe). Amazing work dudes!!
Every vid always freakin' slaps. Easily one of the best channels on the platform!
Enjoying seeing how happy Moog is getting with this project after overcomingso many issues along the way. Perseverance pays off and this channel is always testament to that.
Watching those interior panels go in was so satisfying when they are new. Doing the same on old car is such a struggle
While I am sure there have been UP!s and downs…this journey has been a good watch. I figured my Mk2 VAG journey was frustrating. Great to see the progress. Marty if you are ever in Canada come take my GTI for a drive…if it doesn’t put a smile on your face I will buy you a beer.
Love the video, I can't believe what you guys have to go through but was it really worth it!!!!!!!
Thanks for the upload! :)
The Intro made us laugh. Thought it was an episode of Play School. We're happy to see the Up is now running. Great Video Guys.
Cracking build, can’t wait for more videos on this
Can’t wait see some test rips!! Over here in Michigan w/my mk5 tdi, love the vw content 🤘🏼
Brilliant series!
Man, u guys ar so blessed, having a vag commander, incredible
You guys are motivating me to work on my 92 VW Golf👍
Paused 27 sec in to say you already made me laugh. Best channel and always will be.
Car’s fabulous guys! Interior is mint!
BLAAAACCK.
Took me back hearing that.
I'm loving this series. I think you're bonkers for doing this but it's still great to watch
Excellent, well done guys
so glad moog decided to finish the up mini hatchbacks are so dope
Marty nailed it. We were bummed after the song, but that sick ass shirt made us happy again.
Awesome it's almost time to start the car for the first time, I can't wait to hear it! 😁
Epic build. Good job. 👌👍
Very Cool Build. I'm with Marty, you should do it again, now that you know what's UP! with the whole process. BUT, you should do UP! a couple of them so that you have 1 to sell and make UP! some of the cost of the build UP!
I see what you're UP! to. 🧐
But yes, they need to do UP! 6 more of these.
A refreshing 7UP! collection.
Great work lads!
That intro was epic :D what a way to start my day :p
Spins clock spring like crazy short while later "steerin error"
Gotta chuckle at it, but really hoping for the best. the car is sick and cant wait to see it driving!
That new seat interior brings back such nice nostalgic feelings of my Golf GTi MK2, which was exactly the same. No other interior was able to add that extra flare as much as that one.
Take a drink every time Moog says “This ‘ere” 🤪
Loving the Up! build boys. can't wait to see it tearing up a track like the nugget it was destined to be!!
I love all of the plastic, especially when it's used for critical components like steering. It really adds that extra layer of safety.
omg how bloody is this thing to make up. brains and braun has worked against the vag. i salute this mighty effort matey. i love my up white with white rims. only reason i found your channel was because you did up stuff. WOW what a world i have come to.
Interior looks mint guys
The work that’s gone into this so far is crazy 🤣
Great vids… and a perfect example that some ideas aren’t worth pursuing 😅 what a mission!!! That said I hope you’re upgraded UP is freaking awesome!!!!
Watching this has made me get my own little German nugget! Mad love for your up! keep going champ!
Ive fallen inlove with this car too, watching the build brings me so much nuggetty joy and i dont think any golf or store bought gti could compare
13:56 great tool the Christmas tree bit
Snuffle-UP-icus!🔥
Good thing you wound up the clock spring before installing!!😂
It's refreshing seeing you guys struggle with this thing month after month, but just following through on your past decision even though it long ago proved to be difficult (and maybe a bad idea in the first place). I can relate...
Perfect intro!!! 💯
Rear wiper sounds like some sweet jazz 🎷
Good work compliments.
Love you guys!
Loved the clock spring unboxing and spin! I'm like noooooo!
ive done a lot of these oem style conversion on commodores
colorado and hsv I love the gm global platform I think its a great idea.
i love this swap series and the level of commitment. i hope you do more maybe in more raw uncut version for us die hards that nerd out watching this id love to see the hurdles and the technical stuff on your second channel ;)
also moog you spun the clock spring and you made me gasp lol....
