This was one of my best mate’s cars. The engine does indeed have a cam but it’s also been bored and stroked so it’s not a 2.8 anymore - really hope you can save it! Will be looking forward to seeing it restored. I don’t know what your plans are with it when it’s done but I wouldn’t want this car to get lost so would buy it if your plan is to sell it at some point!
taylor has to see this comment before he dumps the modded engine for a stock one and just slaps the cams on it...

I enjoy both immensely. I prefer to see the whole crew having fun and enjoying themselves. I will also add that between AutoAlex and V2, their content is better than what Car Throttle is putting out. I enjoy CT a lot but I prefer this brand of content significantly more. All of it is a massive win for all of us fans and viewers 👍

As someone who lives near Atlanta Georgia, I’m always blown away by how much rust is on UK cars.
As apposed to us in the UK who have to keep blowing the rust off the garage floor.

Kitty litter is my go-to for auto fluid spills. Kills the smell, and is somewhat easier to clean up once it all congeals

Yeah that old BMW "surface rust" 😂 Glad i dont need to go near these junk heaps ever again. Everything you took off them to fix them broke on the way off. Youd be £500 down on parts on top of the original part you went in to replace. We had a "restored" one in for a MOT despite it not needing one the guy wanted ot put through the test. No joke it looked mint on the outside and decent enough at the bottom as it had been acid etch primed and coated. Couple of pokes about with MOT poker and it mashed the rust up that was behind the new paint😂
After moving to New Zealand from the UK in 2016 it has transformed my view of rust on cars as they don't salt here.
I got £2000 off my 89 Nissan Pao as it has a 50p size bit of surface rust in the spare wheel well, that's it but even now i count that little bit as alot 😂

Cat litter for cleaning up the "bad curry"
The spray bar bolts should always be replaced with new ones from BMW. About 12 quid for both. They have a very slightly different thread pitch so they 'bite' into the threads in the cylinder head a bit more. plus they have pre applied threadlock. Clean the head threads out with brake cleaner, torque the new bolts up to 12 nm, job done. Apart from a VERY light test with fingers or a spanner to check for tightness, leave them alone forevermore.
Great video. Please restore old BMW classics like E21-3 series Alpina 323i and E12-5 series original M535i. These are great BMWs of the 1980.
to do them right wouod be £40+k mate. Bodge restorations like Mat Armstrong etc are just youtube restorations nobody wants a car theyve "restored"

Kitty Litter is Pretty good to and easier to get. What might have saved the day would be a sheet of Cardboard, which is what I use,especially outside when it gets windy😂

I am always way too happy when Alex is doing an ad that mentions whats in the video. It's the tinest detail in the world but i love it, it represents the attitude towards the videos. V2 makes my top channels on yt, together with Autoalex!
I love the silliness of the main channel but the calmer, more technical episodes with Taylor are my favourite. He's like Ed China but hilarious.

they shouldnt do any more bike vids unless they stop being BMW fanboys. They got loads of stick for the bike vid as they blatantly made bogus comments claiming the junk s1000rr "dominated BSB and World Superbike'" It done nothing of the sort, the Yamaha R1 and Ducatis spanked it for fun.

2:26 just a note, those aren't jacking points, don't jack from there, those are just for when the bodyshell was moving around the factory during assembly. They can't support the weight of the full car, and people mistakenly jacking on them is what distorts them and creates gaps between the layers of sheet metal, ultimately beginning the process of them rotting out.
2:29 is the jacking point. Or use the frame rail like I do!

It’s quite simple actually. V1 is a lot of times very cringe. The “trading up” “series” was a complete and utter failure, bro just called it quits and bought himself a Porsche with the sort of money you see on storage wars “this is x$ and this is y$”, imaginary “budget” and just bought the car he wanted after uploading 3 or 4 videos months apart. Meanwhile V2 content with Taylor is more relaxed, and I just think Taylor is much more like-able than Alex
Because it has not got the big loud one who won't ever shut up and has an ego the size of the rich fat one's waist line.

i had e28 as a project that is free of rust compared to my one. rear top sock absorber mounts had holes due to corrosion. rear subframe mounts had to be reworked crazy rust.
yesh they rust from inside to outside. Unlike outside to inside that Taylor seems to think. Notoriously bad rusters as bad as Lancia tbh
I actually enjoy these videos on the V2 channel. Please keep making these videos growing through old cars and repairing them.

On my channel I just rebuilt my M20 head after it had sat in a barn for 30 years.
The bores were scored and even had scoring on the big end bearings but I’ve reassembled everything, it runs great and doesn’t use any oil👌🏻
