Fair play lads
Cranking out some epic content
Can do a video on the track bike/bikes
Isn't febi a bit meh?
@@SgtRock4445nope febi tend to be oem parts with the brand name ground out of the part
So let me get this right. You’ve got it had a loan car deal from BMW GB, you are working on a BMW and you are not using OEM parts. I suspect had you asked them BMW would have helped with the supply of genuine parts. They did for the wheeler dealers 635 back in the day!
We need more of Josh explaining how to do things properly, the younger generation could learn good car maintenance. Could be easy 2nd channel content.
We’re on it!
@@jooshy Looking forward to it, already had me captivated there for the short amount it lasted
@@jooshy agree with postman, would be great, even for the; all the gear no idea's, like me 🤣
@@jooshyI'm disappointed Josh where have your pink boot laces gone
It needs scrapping 😂
Love how passionate Taylor is with his cars
Just a shame he has no clue about any other car than a bloody BMW😂
@@petemarks7007 false
@@petemarks7007You forgot about Mini Coopers
@DanieleCapellini that is also a BMW lol 😂
Thank you @joestephens333 I used to love AutoAlex, but it seems to have turned into the Taylor f@#ks up another car show..you never know if he just bought a car and made it road legal, instead of throwing money at it and ending up with a car that would last a lot longer even maybe doing 2 laps of the Nurburgring..and not in another BMW, has it not been established that they are f@#%ing unreliable
Because it's not a Miata.
yes.
Would be even worse if was miata 😂
Yeah who'd want a rocketeer mx5 😅
Talk about the worst name ever given to a car can't stand it.
Proper German rustineering, though 😂
I've got a mk2 golf, I can relate to that.. 🤷🏻♂️
Josh is class, great with the team chemistry
Yes, we like Josh - good guy!
Agreed.. more of him less of Rory
@@N-youodd you do know that Rory runs most of the finance and admin side of the channel, and does most of the camera work? He's a good dude and not in front of the camera anywhere near as much as Alex and Taylor. Cut him some slack, jeez.
@TygonBC I'm sure he's incredible behind the scenes. In my opinion, I find he disrupts the great chemistry the others have.
@@N-youoddNo, he doesn't. Rory is essential to everything that makes this channel so good.
It doesn't look too bad , 1st vid on our ramp will reveal all :)
I wouldn't even trust jacking it up at this point 😅😅😅
Yesssss, give it to Ryan and Steve!!!
Could you do my car aswell free of charge?
@@marco7563 They'll be out of business after that E30 gets there, either that or the MX-5 will suddenly cost Alex £100'000 to fix :)
These guys seem so down-to-earth and really genuine. They deserve way more subscribes on the channel and without a doubt are sleeping giants of youtube.
Glad the first thing Josh did was remove the bonnet off the beamer. Them front hinged bonnets are a bastard when working in the engine bay
I’m pretty sure there is a service position? Looking at the hinges… like the Volvo 740
I’ve worked on many an E30 and for the 10 mins of effort it’s worth it!
@@geoffreycarter3981nope it’s very annoying!
Alex missed an opportunity to go all Jack Sparrow and say "STOP BLOWIN' 'OLES IN MA SHIP!!" XD
EDIT: Taylor saying "Alex the ketchup is on fire" was hilarious but equally not surprising for an AutoAlex video hahaha
I love the explanations Taylor gives as he works on the cars. Educational input like that means we can get smarter whilst still laughing 🤓
I would NEVER use 3k wheels... Taylor is a brave man!
Keep them up a loft?
Isn't 3k on the low end for a set of original bbs wheels?
Or is it 3k each?
Depends what they are...and condition
There are many
I daily mine during the summer. No point in owning them if you don’t use em.
Josh is the voice of reason, also in the podcast. He can stay. This audience member approves of the new one.
Honestly, this is the best channel on YT. This and the podcast are just excellent. Proper good entertainment, keep it up lads.
Will have definitely had a cone filter on it during its drift car days then been returned to standard using its old airbox filter etc!
Taylor has such good taste in cars and mods what a lad
His delivery is 1 in a million too. What a find for AutoAlex, the lucky f***er.
Fair play, some first class quotes in this episode:
"You're never late in a V8."
"You turned up in a straight 6."
And:
"Your ketchup's on fire."
Josh is a god addition to the team, but Taylor had me creased up today. Just a naturally funny Fella! Alex would piss me off in the workshop, always on the wind up! 😂
That compression test was hilarious!
This is in my top 5 AutoAlex videos. The banter is 100% on point! Literally felt like I was there in the garage. Just brilliant!
I enjoy these episodes so much more than the ring trips 😂😂😂
i might be in the minority by saying this, but honestly i dig Josh's more-than-usual appearance here
Same here!
life’s been tough recently, but if there’s one thing that I can count on to bring me a laugh and abit of joy back into my day…it’s this channel. Thank you guys for all your hard work! May the laughs continue and wish you all the best😎
Josh is a good addition to the team ❤ love you guys ❤️ thank you for putting smiles on our faces ❤️
"Just over here, minding my own beeswax, fixing his sh*t and I'm getting my arse pummelled!" I'm dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loving the channel and the Podcast. You three make a great team and great content! 🍻
"Alex, the ketchup's on fire". That got a proper LOL out of me!
These videos just get better and better, best content of the week. Lost it at 23:40, the chemistry truly is peak top gear chaos and I’m here for it
These guys are really down to earth.
Also, These guys: "Alex, the ketchup's on fire"
Such an enjoyable episode! I’m so glad you took the leap to create AutoAlex, the content and banter is spot on. Side note, when would your Phil Shedfest t-shirt be available? Keep up the epic work mate
I love the look of the E30 BMW Touring, for me I have always wanted a Subaru Impreza Wagon as a project car. To be honest both of these would be great projects I love them both.
Alex was so shocked with his air filter that he turned into Matt from P1
An absolute gem of a channel. Deserves 5M subs, not 500K.
I hate using the term New Top Gear, it's not quite the right fit, but as far as chemistry and presenting go, your guys are equals imho. Perfect friendship and effortlessly presented.
Ooh, the touring(obviously not Alex's) is looking tasty. Lovely wheels too.
It's good to see Yorkshire Car Restoration getting some love! I live not too far from them and I took an MX5 NB and they are absolute masters at what they do. I hope you can give them more exposure as their CZcams channel has been growing pretty quickly, and it is every bit deserved! If you pop down there you'll see some of the awesome stuff they're working on and just what high quality magic they can do with some of the cars that go in to them!
They ignore their messages
Well they read them but bony bother to reply to genuine work
I have a golf GTI that I need sone underbody work doing noting major literally only a few bits
Messaged their fb page they read it and didn’t even give a reply
I live close to them too so wanted to suport local businesses
Maybe the air filter was made on that date but wasn't fitted at that date, it could have been fitted at any time.
or maybe they had a performance one and swapped the stock one on after
Probably new old stock
That compression test was hilarious, Alex's car was definitely higher due to the cylinders having oil in them, most likely caused by bluetooth rings and valve stem seals
Also things I never thought i'd hear on youtube whilst watching car stuff - 'Alex the ketchup's on fire'
Absolute gold, Taylor is the best!
One of the better ones in a while! I was giggling like a little schoolgirl watching it! Keep it going Alex you doing great job! I remember the phrase “dog’s not new the car is new” 👍🏻
Love the content on this car, keep it going! The Valve tick can be remedied with some good ol' fashioned valve adjustment! They don't have hydro-lifters yet... get a feeler gauge in there and adjust them to .25mm all around :)
About the Air Filter - it doesn´t have to be used since 2001. My father has a filter from 1997 and we KNOW that it got replaced by a Volvo Dealer / Workshop when the headgasket was renewed 2010-ish. Sometimes it´s just NOS. But yeah, both Alex and my fathers filter needs replacing - badly.
Loved doing the water pump and timing kit on these, really easy just took about a week waiting for parts as mine was the early M20 engine that uses different ancillaries
More videos like this! Vlog of the banter in the garage is pure quality!
I love how chilled Taylor is in these episodes. Taylor is very much like a father in this, let me set the scene and explain.
Taylor arrives to the garage on a sunny Sunday morning while the family are still asleep. It's been a 90 hour week at graft and he finally has a minute to himself. Birds tweet, hot tea in hand he opens the garage door to be greeted by the headlights of his BMW.
He quietly opens the bonnet, examines, fettles and tinkers enjoying the nirvana of tinkering in solitude which so rarely he finds himself in.
Enter Alex:
"Hi Dad!!!! What's this do?! *Coolant all over the floor* here's your 10mm!! *Tool box hits the deck*.
Taylor: FML.....
I had to laugh so hard when Alex spat on the oil filter. 😂 Never change guys!
Really enjoying seeing you working on the cars, nice to see some more detailed mechanical work.
Warm fuzzies seeing the 164 QV still being used and will be able to be enjoyed again...
Love watching you guys , always watched car throttle but now with you Taylor and Rory what a good channel now! Such a laugh keep up the good work guys 👍
As the owner of a red 325i touring, this is lovely and utterly recognizeble. Now also remove the sil covers and check under the battery 😅
Love the passion with which Taylor tests the structural bodywork of cars. Each gratuitous stab a glory hole for the lad. Taylor and Alex bounce off each other so well it's unreal, absolutely ace to watch. 👍👍👍
How anyone in that workshop gets any ACTUAL work done is beyond me. Complete and utter chaos, I love it. Keep up the good work folks
What an adventure, no way that E30 passes an MOT in a bit. Glad you’re having fun, great video. Please get that touring back on the road, the world needs more cars like that.
I was going to say check if the cylinder head bolts have been replaced, because the original ones are a bit snappy-offy, but it looks like a lot of things might snap at any moment. Could be relevant for Taylor though.
Alex, your channel has came from so far but it now my favorite channel of CZcams. Me, my dad and brother always watch your videos together. It gets us more together and we love your videos!!!! Keep it up mate 👌
E30s & chronic rust a match made in heaven 😂 It was nice having a some technical content featured as well.
Great episode!
Taylor attacking the e30 with the screw driver while Alex is on the phone was quite possibly the funniest thing I've watched on CZcams 😂 that grin says it all 😂😂
I love the silliness you guys have to each other. you bring me a smile and a laugh every video you make. Keep up the good work. Thankyou :)
13:15 That plug in the background looks safe 😂. Great video 👍
Alex quitting CT and starting this channel was the best move ever, the banter you guys have is out of this world 👍
Love watching you guys. Brilliant video. The chemistry is so good. Please keep these videos coming. Ps Taylor is definitely the main man and the star of the show.
I just think it's smart to design a car where the hood/bonnet hinges are in the front, that way, it won't ever unlatch and fly up and smash the windshield, thusly causing you to soil yourself...
One of the best videos on the channel ! Super fun and educational . Love to see more videos over 30min !
You can manually adjust the valve clearance on an M20 engine to get rid of the ticking
Great video!
I thought that when doing compression tests it will be higher when all other spark plugs are in as it is forced out the single plug space. I also thought it was all about them being consistent across the cylinders.
Always excited to see a new video pop up each week. Awesome channel!
When the engine dies... put an M52 2.8 in there. With an M50 inlet manifold, they're such a gem of an engine! Smooth and grunty.
While you had the valve cover off, you should have done the valve adjustment. It is really easy on these.
Nearly bloody choked on a mouthful of a nice red (wine) @ 21:20 i.e. Alex taking a crowbar to the sills! Wonderfully entertaining (as usual), keep up the good work 💪
Fair dos you three never fail to make me laugh brilliant content keep it up 😂
Alex and Taylor play scrapping never fails to raise a guffaw!
Just brought some Febi struts for my audi after Alex reminded me struggling with his boot 👍
"the ketchup's on fire" now there's a sentence i never thought I'd hear 😂😂😂😂 these vids r honestly comedy gold 👌
I love how accidental Alex and taylor's relationship is, and it works so well on camera. Great stuff
Awesome video, make sure to flip the lift struts the other way up so that it doesn’t “bounce” when the tailgate opens!
This video has got 'Boys doing boy stuff' written all over it. It reminds me of my days working in the garage doing a 1.6 to 2liter swap on an e30. Great content! Taylor is hilarious and Josh is great at explaining everything. Keep this stuff up!
I'm so glad Alex found Taylor, their love is so pure with the garage ass pummeling
Today I learned you don’t need a fire extinguisher as long as you have a bottle of ketchup
After all that there was still insufficient screen fluid and nearside front headlamp not working on dipped beam. I guess it didn't matter given the rust 😂.
It's difficult to watch an episode without laughing 😂. Alex and Taylor are just two kids in adult bodies taking the piss out of each other and that's exactly how my friends and I act when working on cars 😂. Thank you for the entertainment
I've just come over from Alex's channel. Really enjoyed this!! Fair play to you guys. I've just subscribed 👍😊
Sending it to the rite boys over at Yorkshire car restorations, been watching their channel for a good while now and their work is impeccable.
Any viewer of auto Alex should definaly check these boys out.
@17:23
Taylor: "You're so weak!"
Alex: visibly shaken.
That is exactly why I haven't purchased a very tempting E30 325is. The guy is selling it here in Paraguay for the equivalent of 4000 pounds and he's got nearly twice that into it. Parts are super hard to come by here, and really expensive. Few people know how to work on them and they're rusting out. I'd LOVE to own one but I know it'll just become a black hole for money. If you're not a content creator with a following big enough to get stuff for free, you'll go bankrupt, never get it working properly and never see your money again.
Me and a mate bought 90's monocylinder enduro bikes and did them up together a couple of years ago. We did exactly the same comparisons. I just remember rolling around the garage laughing when my mate realised the air filter on his Yamaha Ténéré 660 had been hand made using a sponge and some kitchen roll. The sponge had dried out and disintegrated into the engine block. When we did the oil changes, his was the worst we'd ever seen! It was like raw crude oil slowly excreting itself from the bike. Safe to say, he didn't hang on to that bike very long. And he was gutted when I made 1000€ profit on the Honda Dominator that I worked on. Result!
I’m loving this channel😎💪🏽
I agree, run it to the ground & then however, put an m3 engine in there. They do fit with a bit of fettling... 😊
I really want an e30 325i touring. But good ones are impossible to find!
If you want something even more obscure and hard to work with get a lupo 3L! It has many unique parts including the transmission!
I reckon the air filter was shoved in a box when it was turned into a track car and then put back to standard. Great works Lads keep the entertainment coming
Thank you editor, I love the noise XD
28:44 Nearly couldn't breathe. Too funny😂😂😂. "Joooosh, stop spilling it"
Your dogs look on its face @2:33 time code, just priceless
Aw Taylor, Brian is BEAUTIFUL! The second car I ever owned was a 1989 E30 320i 3 door in exactly the same colour of blue. Amazing car even though it had no abs, power steering etc 😂 loving this series
I love the way the bonnets sound deadening is there, then not, then there .. and so on 🤣
Mazie mugging off Alex at every turn... priceless
what happened with the e46 touring m3 swap?
That’s m20 and the valve ticking is because it needs valve adjustment. Basic m20 maintenance in every 15-20k miles. And probably that silver in oil is from rods bearings (still easy fix when crankshaft and rods haven’t got damaged. Been there, done that, but i had to do full rebulid because i had to drive with rod knock 200 miles to home. I also have 5 e34 525i with m20b25. And finding a good condition m20b25 885 cilinderhead is not an easy task on those days.
My 2001 E46 Cab was called Brian :-) He was metallic blue too. Looking at the MOT history is now dead due to rust... RIP
Brilliant video! More like this please, your all great!!!
Incredible episode guys! Very informative and even funnier than that! Keep it up!
This episode was cinematic gold. Love you guys!
Alex please don’t promote Yorkshire Car Restorations. I’ve seen a few other comments here saying the same, but they’ve screwed me and dozens of other people over. Steve had my car for A YEAR for restorations, sent it for an MOT and it failed on rust he was meant to repair. He then *allegedly* caused £1400 worth of damage when he welded through my wiring loom, which was rectified when I took it elsewhere having had enough of a year’s worth of deception. I’ve got hundreds of messages with Steve detailing all the failings.
