I just got back into working out and I've only doing it for a month so far and I believe if you do not have a good physique and you are new to fitness you should start out with calisthenics for the first 6 months to a year. Then start incorporating free weights and bench press and a weighted vest. Weighted Calisthenics to get Jacked in the Upper Body, regular Calisthenics for show, and Olympic Style weightlifting and explosice plyometrics for lower body.
weightlifting is a sport based on lifting the most amount of weight over your head, its competed in two events, or two movements, called the "snatch" and the "clean and jerk". You meant weight lifting.
There are just two questions, do you have excess to a gym? No? Do calisthenics. Yes? Move on to question two Is your goal to just be better at calisthenics? Yes? Do calisthenics No? Do weightlifting. Calisthenics is good if you want to become better at calisthenics, and that's the only thing that it truely has over a gym. @@tjmasemola4054 true, I'm tired of hearing I'm skinny and I'm trying to get wide as quickly as I can with this and some other exercises. Haven't noticed much change but it will take time
Just do high reps (8-15) of basic exercises (push ups, pull ups, dips, etc.) and make sure you eat at or above your maintenance calories. Later on, progress to weighted calisthenics.
Quickest way to put on muscle is realistically weight lifting easier to progressively overload . But calisthenics has some essentials like the pull up which should help you look wider. If body weight is too easy add some weight .
