This longplay is from the Super Mario Bros 2 game, originally released for the NES in 1988 in the United States and Europe and in 1992 in Japan (where it was called Super Mario Bros 2 USA) and made over the gameplay of the game Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. This game has a gameplay very different from the previous game and many even consider this game a spin-off, because the real Super Mario Bros 2 was released only in Japan and did not even go to the United States, because it is a game for the Famicom Disk System and also by the extremely high level of difficulty).
This Super Mario Bros 2 of this video was very well received and is a very good game, although it is very different. To beat the enemies I need to pick up vegetables in the no or fling the enemies against each other. The game allows you to play with 4 characters and they inherited the characteristics of their Doki Doki Panic counterparts: Mario is the most balanced, Luigi leaps higher; Peach has may float for a few seconds, but is slow and has little force to throw vegetables; Toad is the strongest and fastest to run, but has the lowest jump.
In this game, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad must save Dreamland, known as Subcon, from villain Wart.
This is the SNES version, included in Super Mario All-Stars cartridge with enhancements in graphics and sounds. I played with all the characters alternately between the stages. Hope you like it. - Hry

It wasn't supposed to be a Mario game in the first place, that's why. It's not the true Super Mario Bros. 2, it's a reskin of Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. Yeah I agree the game is kinda scary.

I got Super Mario All Stars for the Wii and my 3 year old loves to play “Mah-Mee-Ohh”. her fave is Mario Bros 2. there’s no time limit and the game starts off with your chosen character falling and ultimately landing in a “pre-level” which is perfect for her. she just moves around and jumps occasionally. a few times she actually made it through the little door into level 1-1 but she doesn’t get far because she hasn’t mastered the ability to jump when she needs to but it’s fun for her to just play like mommy does.

April 2021. I brought out my Nintendo today, I was just playing Super Mario Bros 1, 2 & 3. I will forever love this game! My cheeks are in pain from blowing on the cartridge 😆 So nostalgic. I miss the 90’s.
i forgot about having to do that 😂. it was satisfying when it worked tho. the music and sound fx really take me back.

blowing does work in that it can help the game to start. in the long run though it can damage the game. And let me tell you, super mario bros 1,2 and 3 are worth quite abit of money so take care of them, if they break it might cost too much to replace!
@@aynsley1002 They're really not, and those expensive sealed copies you've probably heard about are a scam. Blowing also doesn't really do anything, and it's really just going in and out that makes it work.

I've been playing Mario for over 25 years and thought of myself as really good. Just finished watching Mario 3 and now this... You are by far the best video gamer I have ever seen! You make this look easy! You deserve some kind of award or record in the Guinness book. I'm not even joking. Good job and thanks for making these videos!
I also wanted to note that your judgement for aiming/throwing and dodging enemies is breath taking to watch and it seems at times you aren't actually human, but a bot. Everything is scientifically/mathematically figured out and your memory is outstanding! Another thing is the side mini games in both videos I've watched is scary how good you are.

So many of the elements introduced in SMB2 ( USA ) made their way into SMB3 and SMW.
Imagine having never playing this game and going from Japanese SMB2 straight to SMB3 😳 that would have been a drastic difference - ability to move forward AND backwards within a level ( and even up and down ) carrying and throwing enemies, non-linear levels, mini games at the end of levels. Even the SMB3 intro of being on a stage with curtains comes from the character-select screen from this game.
IMO, SMB3 looks drastically different if not for having to release this version of SMB2 in the North American market.
Even though its the black sheep of the Mario series, I liked this game for so many reasons.
First off, I could beat it all the way though on one life, playing as any one character....always a morale booster for a kid. Also, there was no time limit like nearly all other Mario games, so you could screw around and explore if you liked. And it was fun making Miss Princess do all that manual labor! ;-)

Super Mario Advance led me here. Since the GBA is sometimes considered to be a portable, improved SNES, I watched this video to compare with the Super Mario 2 on my Super Mario Advance I just bought for my Game boy Advance SP. I noticed that while it seems indeed that they indeed copied the graphics and images to the GBA from the SNES, I noticed that on the GBA version of Super Mario 2, the sounds were improved and there were even character voices, which was absent in the SNES version.
Did you notice how the GBA version pans from left to right, they didn't have to do that with the GBA version. I enjoy playing both versions.

I remember when I first discovered the Super Mario Allstars pak, I wasn't much of a gamer then so I didn't care. But the second time I played it, I WAS ADDICTED! Because of that single pak, I've played the original versions of the games, The entire Classic Sonic games and the Adventure games, got a Nintendo Switch and 2DS. This pak did a-lot for me, and I'm thankful for it.

I played these games years ago. After watching this game and others I thougHt why not? Went up into the Attic and found my old SNES console. Along with Super Mario world 1&2, Super Mario all stars. It still all worked. The only thing I need was an AV to HD TV converter. Now playing them all again.
Never throw away your SNES. When I was a kid back then it was my dream to have a SNES. 30+ years after I could finally make that dream come true (it could happen sooner, but I was to busy getting drunk, high and getting ladies LOL, so only recently I remembered this old dream of mine).

Not only do I have the NES and GBA releases, I managed to somehow get 3 copies of SMB All Stars in my collection over the years. My original was a re-release, the one with the Million Seller seal on the cart, my other 2 versions are the first run copies.
Remember playing this back in 2004 my parents were early 90s kids so I had a chance to enjoy the classics from they’re childhood and became mine as well!

I guess you need to be very fast in spotting when the right picture comes up, to get what you want after it stops. But that happens so darned fast, so it's pretty tricky. I would like to be better at this too, because without getting extra lifes I don't come much further than World 2-1

This was such good graphics back then.. compared to NES when I first played it.
Now I just don't remember what that felt like
It's not really held up the same way the 8bit versions did. This came out when I was 17 and I was in awe of it, gave the games a new lease on life. But looking at it now, not as special.
Also the wavetable sounds, while they do a great job at "sampling" the original, just do not sound good to me like the innovative 8bit versions do today.
If I were you, whenever I play any this and other versions of it, I would choose these Characters for the following Levels.

As far as I remember, the fastest way possible to get to World 7 is to use the Warps in World 1-3 & World 4-2 & then complete World 6.
Man I cannot get past level 3-3. I get the key and get into that other room where you have to do a lot of climbing and for some reason my character just keeps falling off of the ladders. I've tried with all four and the same thing always happens. It'll let me climb a few steps and then it's like some invisible force causes me to jump off even though I don't press anything. I haven't had a problem on any of the ladders prior to that area, but once I get there it's like the game is just kicking me off of them. It's frustrating.

Flawless victory..
One of the best parts about this game, just like the original, is that if you know where to throw those potions, you can unlock doorways to jump LARGE gaps of levels to get to the ending faster. Just like if you knew where to jump off screen in the original and which pipe to take, you could get to the end faster.

I was born in 2000 but when I got a game boy advance Mario games were all that my parents got me and I loved it! Still do to this day thanks for the nostalgia trip (: Mario for life!!
All I know is when I got nes for my bday it came with mario1 duck hunt combo n to this day brings me joy. The hours we spent omg it was an amazing time an then this an mario3 came along you'd thot we were on top of the world. I got pretty lucky to my buddies parents were over the top rich so he got every game accessories anything he wanted and right now so playing at his house was a dream. I can't play newer systems m games too many buttons anything past ps1 I throw the towel in. Twisted metal was avkht as new as I got lol

I, like many, thought this was the official sequel too. Let's face it though, "The Lost Levels" is more of an addon/expansion of the first "SMB".
I didn't know lost levels was a sequel to Super Mario Bros. Until I looked up Mario 2 localization. This game is definitely better off being labeled as Mario 2.
